But seeing as the last theme park attraction MTS worked on was MIB, it could also mean that the division of MTS that handled those projects no longer exists and thus wouldn’t be making any parts for their old rides. It definitely is a topic that could use more research, but really all we can do right now is speculate on what the status of these ride systems is and why certain changes were made.

Honestly your not wrong , but I believe E.T. Was relevant in today’s world then they would actually do something with it instead of waiting for Steilburg to die so they can get rid of it
Personally part of why I think Revenge of the Mummy is unlikely to get axed anytime soon is that it has a somewhat "timeless" aesthetic going for it. Unlike other rides that live and die by the success of their respective franchise, RotM I almost could imagine being built without The Mummy movie even being made. That's what I assumed as a kid, to be honest. We harp on Disney rides for being obsessed with nostalgic rides, but part of why I think so many of their original IP rides last for so long is being able to embody a timeless aesthetic rather than the contemporary.
@@wjsproductions1784 😷Snow White scared the absolute piss out of us when we were a kid, hahaha. But yes, just because some Disney rides are based on IPs doesn't necessarily mean they'll age poorly. It depends on the content and context of the ride. Peter Pan is definitely a movie ride, but because many elements of Peter Pan have lasted for a long time (flying to Big Ben, neverland, fighting pirates, etc.) it hits a timeless feel. Universal rides tend to run into a problem where they often use short lifespan material instead of more, well, 'universal' long lasting rides. It's an interesting phenomenon.
A Nickelodeon land at the new park would be awesome, or even replace Kidzone cuz they already have the store there. Only thing is there's like only 2 notable Nicktoons airing rn, that being Spongebob (obviously) and The Loud House. Or you could even just have Bikini Bottom be the land itself.
Isn't Nickelodeon owned by Paramount though? Like, it's still possible, but buying the rights would likely be prohibitively expensive. (On a side note, I would LOVE it if Unviersal bought out the two Nicklodeon Universe parks
There was, at one time, plans to overhaul the kids zone into a bikini bottom land. Stella @ theme park stop has a great video w/concept art and what not. It seems, universal let that ship sink, a few years ago, so to speak.

Fear Factor had its big popularity spike in like...what? 2003? It had long since fallen off into obscurity and I can't fathom *HOW* the show managed to last for as long as it did with its constant near-empty theater.

Shrek and Fear Factor are the few attractions where they need to close its doors soon. The rest of the attractions mentioned by AI need to be updated. As much as I think that the Studios really need some really new killer attractions, realistically I think Shrek is next to go. If we were seeing Kid's Zone or Men in Black/Fear Factor replaced, I think that construction would have already started. Perhaps with the opening of the Velocicoaster, Universal's one new attraction a year policy will end for a bit due to their loss of money from the pandemic. That being said, the Studios have so many underwhelming attractions that it really should be the park that gets focused on.

Main thing with the Hulk Coaster and Dueling Dragons was that they were steel coasters that ran year round outside. Just by virtue of that would have less stresses on Mummy that the other ones have to worry about, like rain and wind.
Shrek has to go or Fast and Furious. If ET and Mummy go, I’ll cry and be super disappointed in Universal. I also don’t understand the hate with Jimmy Fallon, I’ve enjoyed it every time we went!
The day Men in Black eventually leaves is going to break my heart. It easily has some of the most replay value (re-ride value?) of any ride I've been on across the state. The only rides I have been on more at Universal would probably be Spider-Man and The Mummy, and even that's mostly because I get pretty lucky with attending on the least busy days. Also the Magic Mirror's Star Wars joke during the Shrek preshow makes me crack up every time.
Yeah the MIB ride is a shit load of fun to ride I’ve gone 3 times in a row before. They really just need to refurbish it or replace it with a new IP but keep the ride system
I heard from someone who works at Revenge of the Mummy that they are planning on closing it for 10 months or so to rebuild the track and show scenes etc.
I'd like to see them re-do the axed Beetlejuice show (or a new Beetlejuice show) at the fear factor stage. I'm not sure how it compares to the demolished stage, but it would make a lot of fans happy.

Twister was truly one of the best attractions. It's just universal did not take any care of it whatsoever. They let it rot there and didn't even update the most basic things. Such as the speakers on stage and behind the guests. The attraction had so many issues. But when it was very new it was something truly mind "blowing" to physically see and experience in person. I believe this video perfectly shows the importance of Execution: The Mummy: Literally ONE movie (That wasn't practically straight to video) 2 decades and it is still one of the most beloved rides in Orlando. F&F: One of the most profitable film franchises of all time yet people have been calling for the death of the ride since its opening.
They can do so much with removing fear factor. I hope they switch to this idea once velosicoaster is done. Shrek they can let go as well. They have so many things they can do. Looking forward to going here over Disney.
One of the main issues is that Universal really doesn't have another strong IP to replace any of these with. They can only milk Harry Potter & Jurassic for so long.

If they do anything to it, I’d be ok with a revamp of some of the animatronics or effects, but the ride itself is AMAZING!! Fiancé’s isn’t a fan of coasters of any kind but he LOVES The mummy ride. We went there a while back and had the 3 park pass for a week and we woke up every morning for the hour before opening time after the second day to go hit up the ride before the lines got massive.
Universal needs less video based rides and more traditional rides. They have tons of properties that would be awesome for a land, or multiple lands really.
lost continent should be rethemed to legend of zelda if they change the area like that as you’ve talked about. it’s such a great attraction to escape the florida heat and rain. they could easily make it a hidden shrine from breath of the wild or make it themed to the yiga clan hideout with “hylian” entertainers in costume telling you to head there! i think that would be awesome!!
Fear Factor Live was my kind of show to be an athletic participant...kinda. But the pandemic was the reason to close it. Having to be a champion of the stunt portion, and being able to eat that gross smoothie, and survive the scorpions in that chair, I completed my Fear Factor “bucket list.” So to close this show, it’s understandable. My message to Universal: Thank you for letting me participate, thank you for the memories, and I will miss it.

Jurassic World......
I mean, yeah a lot of Disney’s old rides were original
@Cheese23145 I think they’re talking about Disney’s old rides that were actually based on IPs, like Snow White and Peter Pan.
It’s long overdue for spongebob to have it’s own ride at universal
A Nickelodeon land at the new park would be awesome, or even replace Kidzone cuz they already have the store there. Only thing is there's like only 2 notable Nicktoons airing rn, that being Spongebob (obviously) and The Loud House. Or you could even just have Bikini Bottom be the land itself.
