It really is hard if you don't have your medication. People who do not have ADHD do not understand how difficult it is. Just to complete a simple task without feeling overwhelmed or distracted. It's tuff , I went thru my school years with no medication and being on them as an adult has really helped my understanding and to better comprehend.
You lack exercise and eating right

I’m 70 years old. One of the original ADD kids when they didn’t have that name.
I quit 6 years ago because I got tired of feeling like a Junkie trying to get a new Doctor prescribe it to me after my Dr retired. While there is a product shortage, there is also a discrimination in the Doctors themselves, in writing such a prescription. Probably a result of the multi million dollar opioid epidemic and all of its fallout.

@@jakeplumber1373 Thank you. I went to several doctors before I just quit. They all denied me. I was also told the new doctor who replaced the retired one would just continue my treatment with no changes. That was, until my first visit when new doctor met me and before she said hello, she blurted out “ Adderall? ….. won’t prescribe. Too many rules. “

I'm right there with you.
I really don't care who's to blame at this point (for the shortage) I just need this nightmare to end. ADHD treatment is one thing, but the group of people being overlooked is narcoleptics. I can't survive without this medication. Survive as in stay awake for a full 8 hours, and not fall asleep at work. And if I'm being forced to ration my prescription, then I'm not able to drive to work. No work, and I can't afford to pay rent. It's a vicious cycle...

@@robertlee6338 Amphetamines aren't opiods and narcolepsy means that person has a condition to where the just fall asleep out of nowhere, which Adderall is prescribed to treat.

You literally CAN'T refill even a day or two early. When you say "don't delay" you are ignoring the fact that we HAVE TO wait until the fill date. I live in a town with 3 pharmacies. We had 6 before Covid. NONE of them can get my meds. I'm 66-years-old.

What the FDA is failing to tell everyone that the reasoning for this shortage is simply due to a opioid lawsuit filed in 2021 (Please look it up for your own reference). Adderall isn't labeled as a "opioid", but in the lawsuit it technically is. Thus, limited how much pharmacies can actually order per batch. For example, if a pharmacy can typically order 30k pills, now they're limited to about 5-7k. It sucks, truly, but the strict regulation should be lifted by the end of this year...

Some mormon families in Utah were selling it mail order. Aaron Shamo. Anyway a bunch of Mormon college kids died from addiction. Then the Mormon families all got together with some Mormon congress members and sued. Trump changing the prescription laws didn't help either. Doctors can't prescribe or they will be red flagged. They are only allowed to prescribe a seven day supply. Many of them won't even do that because they are afraid of losing their license. If that isn't a recipe for mass death, I don't know what is. Maybe euthanasia was the plan all along. I haven't seen cruelty like this since I heard about alcohol prohibition. The mafia got really rich selling poison to the poor. Kind of what they are doing with Fetanayl today.

I’m blessed to not have issues so far. My Dr always asks if I have issues and tells me I’m blessed to have a pharm that hasn’t had many issues /: im sorry for my friends who can’t :( one month someone from my work stole mine and it sucked…. :(
literally searched this up because I have ADHD and I had to take my SAT and State Science Test without my adderall it was so bad

PHARMACISTs will not share their information unless you're a customer. Its infuriating, you basically have to drive around with the prescription but the prescription only works for your specific dosage, you cant ask them if they have other dosages available because its not your written dosage

It was my understanding that there were some online services during the pandemic where you could take a survey and get diagnosed. This lead to a huge amount of need than before the pandemic and drug manufacturer could not keep up.
Drug abuse. Adults LOVE adderall bc it makes you very productive, suppresses appetite, and keeps you awake. Essentially it’s speed.
LOL it wasnt THAT easy. You still needed a licensed professionals opinion, it just happen to be convinent and over facetime lol
You can't get a prescription for this stuff without a doctor in this case, a psychiatrist most likely. It's a highly controlled substance.

This is happening to chronic pain patients as well but nobody is talking about that 🙄🙄🙄. But hey….ADHD is more debilitating than chronic pain right? We are never talked about. It’s actually the government controlling the quantity of certain medications that can be distributed. The 3 lettered agencies need to go like CDC and DEA.
I don't think it's fair to say that one is more debilitating than the other but as ADHD person who has experienced pain, when literally the pain is all I can focus on I can only imagine what you're existence is like. Both ADHD and chronic pain often are blown off because they are often invisible to the outiside even though we are struggling to exist since. It's awful the media isn't covering pain med shortages. We all get treated like drug seekers when we have to try to.figure out where to have our prescriptions covered.
Those with chronic pain don't work. Those with ADHD can work with meds. We are the taxpayers. We get priority.

There's other countries experiencing shortages, including the UK, and a number of smaller countries whose supplies depend on US manufacturers.
Weird, im from one of those smaller countries (the Netherlands) and anyone i know with a perscription can get it the same day. I dont know if we manufacture ourselves but all i know its the brandless version just called "methylphenidate"@@LucarioBoricua

Adderall is not addictive and shouldn't be controlled like it is today.
You should probably clarify the type of addiction you mean because I can slay some addies in one binge and that's a pretty big hallmark of potential for abuse.
Amphetamines, which Adderall is, can be addictive. Especially for those without ADHD or even for those with ADHD who take more than they're supposed to. I have no desire what so ever to abuse my meds because they help me so much but you cannot deny this exists.
I've been lucky to not be affected by the shortage, so far. I've been accumulating a significant stockpile, just in case.

@@JBBost Yeah. I usually only take about half my prescribed daily dosage. That means I can save 1 month's worth of medication every month. Multiply by 12 then multiply by the number of years this "shortage" has been an issue. That's about how long I'm set for if the shortage ever actually hits me.
Vacuum sealed with desiccant in the freezer, it stays good forever. I do try to rotate stock, but I'm not obsessive about it. The bottle I'm currently using was filled in May, 2022 and it's perfectly fine.
