Fantastic people - great arguments put in three different ways. What is also refreshing is how they manage to weave their own views into one braid.
When are we willing to hear these voices and understand the message????

Thanks for posting, rainforestinfo. I want to go to school and study deep ecology. Would you recommend me to study agroecology if deep ecology is not offer in any US school? Or what other very similar careers, degrees or courses to deep ecology would you recommend to study?

If you're still in college, try going on the Expedition Education Institute for a semester.

I am a huge fan of Stephen (his books are fascinating) and Lynn Margulis.. genius, but if only James Lovelock was a part of this. If only Barb McClintock was on here too and I can list some other names, but I won't bother. =)
Is there anywhere we can legitimately download this video?

We do not need to reduce human population by 90 percent.

i came here for stephen buhner (lol at the name mispronounciation) but i have to comment about the other two speakers. John Seed eminates such a joy, its really amazing. on the other hand Lynn Margulis is frankly annoying me. She is too preachy, eager on telling us how wrong we are. Im not arguing that she is wrong, but i am sure its not the most efficient approach to changing things.

The most efficient approach? We do nothing. And now it's too late. People pay attention to lots of superficial shit and never to what''s really important. Fucking selfish dumb beings we are...

Wonder why these 3 speakers together? Margulis was arguing against the notion Gaia is a spiritual entity or earth one being/ unified thing, stating well known science - humans part of eco-system in which diversity is essential. Seed tries to go beyond ecological science showing importance of humans' deep connection with nature to activism - an idea Buhner makes ridiculous taking the heart to be the literal seat of emotion not the brain, and plants subliminally communicating knowledge to humans!

We shouldn't be surprised that nothing is being done to reverse the damage. The reason is simple. Who will be the first to voluntarily unplug their refrigerator? Who wants to give up taking hot showers? Or doing without your heating/air conditioning or your washing machine? Are you ready to go back to hand washing your clothes on the rocks down by the river? Not to mention your car, your TV, your phone, your oven, your stove, your electric lights, your airplane trips? Case closed.

I can answer that. Very much case open.
Anyone who has experienced deep loss of all comfort or security - whether through impoverishment of only economic circumstances, or through severe illness or through deep social loss and grief, especially such as being the recipient of social injustices. Going through that, daily, for extended periods of time, a human knows that what really matters is to hang onto life and let go of what they have lost.
Attachments to those conveniences you mention is a priveledge that belongs way down the list of reasons to live and why to get by when you are really in dire straits. Ok? So.. picture a person with long term heavy shit imposed on them and no way or means to lift that, these are the people who routinely can and do act out of human nature to survive. We are always taught that it's the worst and lowest side of humans that gets triggered into action in these lows but we have enough data now on what recovery is and how people live after it.
If you recover from 7 years of chronic pain YOU ARE NOT IMPRESSED BY WASHING MACHINES OR CARS ANYMORE, you are impressed by qualities of humanity that you had to choose to live through hell. And the greed and sloth and selfishness that you speak of is not one them.
So. When we get to a tipping point of how much of the population has been through recovery from really deep , acute, trials the marketeers are gonna be shitting themselves to try to find anyone who wants to buy more shit that makes life for everyone harder.
