I just recently studied with Zhong-shifu in Guangfu. This form/style is radically different from the Chen influenced Yang style I have studied for 25 years, but I immediately felt a kinship with this WuHao. And Zhong-shifu is an amazing teacher: he emphasizes the details of the form and the physics of movement. He is always approachable and generous with his time and individual attention.
This is in Guangfu, an ancient walled city within the exurban district of Handan, Hebei province. The actual site where it was filmed is the Wu family compound. Guangfu is the historical town of origin of both Yang and WuHao styles.
Wu style taijiquan is came out from Zhaobao group, i.e. Grandmaster Wang ZongYue lineage. Its not under the Grandmaster Chen WangTing lineage, and from the Zhaobao group view the Grandmaster Chen QingPing is not practicing Chen style. This is a issue always arguing between Zhaobao village and Chenjiagou village for long times...
+天孤星 Tin Gu Seng Wu Yuxiang Taijiquan was from the following sources: 1. Wu Yuxiang was a scholar who deeply understood traditional Chinese culture; 2. Wu family had the tradition of practicing martial arts; 3. He learned Chen style at Taihetang Pharmacy but didn't get the essence; 4. He learned Chen style from Yang luchan but only get a general idea; 5. He learned from Chen qingping and totally understood this art; 6. He got the "Taijiquan Theory" by Wangzongyue. Wu yuxiang and Li Yiyu, his nephew, practiced for years, adopting what was useful and discarding what was not, and created a completely new style. Wu Yuxiang Taijiquan is different from both Chen style and Zhaobao style. The earlier history of Taijiquan has been controversial as you mentioned, but Wu style has a much clearer lineage.
Gieszkanne Master Wu Yuxiang learned the Chen style from Yang Luchan, not the "Yang" style. Then he learned the "new frame" Chen style in Zhaobao from Chen Qingping, which was also known as the "small posture style." That is why in the Wu/Hao/Li styles the arms are never fully extended, but always keep a bend.
Wu Tunan did made some interesting research on the history of Taiji. In the time where Yang Luchan was in Chenjiagou was a foreigner Jiang Fa who teached him Taijiquan. Chen Fake was the first who called the Chen boxing Taiji. Yang Luchan called his style Taiji before the Chen Family did. That Taiji is from a village of simple framers ist communist political propaganda!
And if look for the older Yang Taiji versions espacially small frame th-cam.com/video/LQQnVM9z-N8/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/vm8mD9wyxbo/w-d-xo.html&feature=related You can clearly see the relation to old Wu/Hao style.

He may have learnt some from yang but the story goes he was intent of travelling to Chen village but stayed at Zhaobao
I love this form. There seem to be two or three strains of this style around.
Excelente maestro.
I learned sun 73 recently. I've only studied the first minute of this video but so far sun style just looks like a sped up version of this style.
Sun was a direct offshoot of Wu.
@@zhenjiu Hao but Hao style is almost the same
You are not right Wu Yuxiang learned also from Yang Luchuan!
This is really interesting to watch. I study Wu Hao taiji in the UK. Can you tell me in which country/town, this was filmed?

And at that time yang style would have been Chen

+iowataiji I know that, what I reply is just simply talking about Grandmaster Chen QingPing, the controversial issue between Zhaobao and Chen style.
天孤星 Tin Gu Seng i agree. I think luchan learned a style like this one since yang and chen are not similiar. Remember chinese like to save face.
