metropod yes then the mp transfomers line is g1 and g2 based peaces, were all combiner wars, and titans are part of the generations line witch is base off the idw comics
As an IDW fan, I gotta say Minimus Ambus was the main reason why I tracked down this beauty rather than get the Siege version. I'd have preferred to see the white prime body as well, for that neat nesting-doll effect, but the idea that huge enforcer Ultra Magnus is actually just a small dude with wicked moustache game piloting a huge robot… It just really does it for me. And I love that this idea is represented in toy form.
This is the one figure I splurged for the Takara version. It takes all the great molding and paint apps of the Hasbro version, and ups the anti with a deeper blue, brighter white, and adds a fair bit more paint(And Alpha Trion, for some reason). If you ever want to get another CW Magnus, get the Takara version. Or you could get the RID2000 Magnus. That's a really underrated toy.
in the vehicle mode it is apparently f ing giant. there is tiny ladders and a small door or two on the truck. also little walkways on the trailer. and Lol worlds of Nintendo waluigi.
I know this is an older review, but since HG revive was out during 2014, and RG's before then... And MG's have had this feature before... "articulated shoulder armor flaps are genius" \*laughs in Gunpla*
Back in the day I could not afford either Ultra Magnus due to school, I am so glad Siege came along and gave us perhaps the best Magnus yet. I appreciate the stylized approached to this Magnus in robot mode for sure.
I’m not as big a fan of siege ultra Magnus, he’s alt mode just isn’t as great and his possibility is severely limited. That’s not to mention the strange proportions
You'll hate me for this but nothing you have in your collection will scale with this Magnus besides Minimus Ambus. If you inspect the cab sides closely directly behind the wheels you can see a step ladder and door. These doors are TINY and can be found on the trailer too complete with walkways. I have no idea why but hasbro has made this vehicle the size of a god damn oil rig! In truth Minimus Ambus is a miniaturised delux figure, if he was in scale Ambus would be the same size as any other combiner wars car bot and magnus would tower over everyone like a new fortress maximus.
@@FlamesofJagger This figure isn't IDW Magnus it's Combiner Wars Magnus, it takes a lot of inspiration from IDW but stands as it's own separate figure. Im thinking about either getting this guy or Legacy Toxitron for my birthday sometime soon, but can't decide who. I already have Siege magnus, but he doesn't feel too much like what I want. Should I get this Ultra Magnus?

While I do own the MP Ultra Magnus, I also own the Combiner Wars Magnus too. However, it was a choice between either the Hasbro or Takara version as both differ in their colour. And favouring the colour look of the MP Magnus, I went with the Takara one.
Have you looked at the Siege Ultra Magnus? It's not as big as the CW one, but it's still an impressive sculpt. The only thing I feel it's missing is the ability to act as a car carrier.
I asked him about it in his Cyclonus vid after he mentioned it in his ER Optimus review that he still stuck with this, or rather, just got another one. He didn't like the Siege mold's transformation or inability to function as a car carrier or look accurate to the original. Personally, it's fine, but this version already had the superior transformation. And the more I think of and look at it, the more I just get further and further convinced that they definitely could've and definitely should've downscaled this, added the missing joints, adapted the 3P Core Magnus mechanism to give us a truly accurate Ultra Magnus. At least for Kingdom. If the "engineering" to accomplish that would've bumped it up to being Commander Class, Magnus would've been more worthy of the class than Rodimus.
I think that the best and definitive version of this Ultra Magnus mold has to be the Platinum Edition version (wich I own) Colorwise, platinum Magnus has the MP color scheme, but keeping (and even adding more) of those silver details seen in the combiner Wars version, also including metalic blue pain in zones like the chest and arms that just look awesome to the whole look of the figure A great and highly recomended mold, no matter wich version you get: Hasbro-takara-Platinum
One thing I think is cool is since I don’t care about minimus ambus you can store a matrix in his chest where minimus goes. Which helps for stop motion based on the g1 movie

For me this is the best Magnus version out as of late. It's really preposterous how a 3rd party upgrade kit would fetch a price almost double of that of the original figure, but it takes care of all of the problems that I had with the original figure's articulations like the lack of ankle tilts and wrist swivels. Mastermind Creations have a knack of making exceptionally great figures out of the IDW incarnations so I imagine that if they made their version of this Magnus, THAT would be the perfect Magnus. I also noticed Fanstoys and Toyworld to be making iterations of the 1986 movie cast, so we'll see how that comes out. If anything, I bet they'd also take care of all the official Magnus figures' problems, so that's something to look forward to.

It's funny because this version is able to act as the car carrying truck that Ultra Magnus is supposed to be but I actually really like the white Optimus Prime body so I cannot feel disappointment with this figure meanwhile The siege/kingdom Ultra Magnus comes along with the ability to have a white Optimus prime body but doesn't act as a car carrying truck in fact that figure just looked like the transformers are model Ultra Magnus with G1 colors. I don't know hopefully someday we can get an Ultra Magnus figure that gives us the best of both worlds.
What if you happened to get the Takara version? Its colors are a lot closer to the darker blue that Magnus is supposed to be and is why you picked Masterpiece. Sure, the legs are red coz they're matching the toy than the animation model, but the otherwise deeper colors make him more worth it, even if you're saddled with Alpha Trion instead of Minimus Ambus.
As I said in my review of the LG-14 version of this mold, it takes a good figure to have solid build quality, a kibble free truck and robot mode with great articulation along with amazing screen accuracy. It takes an amazing figure to expand upon screen accuracy with additional intricate detail, expand upon the design elements of a $240 masterpiece collectors item, add appealing non intrusive gimmicks to said figure, and keep it affordable to the mainstream retail market. This review is excellent, and the figure itself beats the masterpiece in my opinion. The production value compared to the retail cost is more befitting of the CW version being 5 times less at retail and still managing to beat out design elements of the masterpiece (IE: No bull shit shoulder hinges attaches with white thin plastic, MUCH cooler gimmicks, WAAAY better use of the truck cab's mass in to the chest instead of the back, etc.) I love this channel and I love this review!
