      Glad it helped! I feel like Anki has a big barrier to entry. The concept is fairly straightforward but the app design and user guide are so confusing!

      Same here! I’ve had it installed on my computer and iPhones for years, but could just never really figure out how are you’re supposed to use it. I finally decided to turn to Google for help, and this video was the first thing that popped up. Interestingly enough, the deck that is imported in this video is the one that I had just read about on Reddit as being really good, and that was what inspired me to finally figure out how to use Anki.

    Thank you for this. I'm also using Matt vs. Japan's learning method for Japanese and while I acknowledge the guy knows his stuff, he kinda skips some steps in basic explanation sometimes. This video was a lifesaver, Anki is not a user friendly program lol.

    • @AliviasNook
      @AliviasNook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they are very different in terms of the algorithm, but you'd hardly know by the way they are labeled! You can tweak the settings so that the difference isn't as prominent, but I found it was simpler to save the 'easy' button for words that I already knew very well

      @@AliviasNook My apologies. Yes, I a referring to typing kana and kanji on my computer to make my own cards. I have read several articles that state an add-on must be downloaded before Anki will have the option to write in kana and kanji. I have downloaded several of them, and I cannot get them to work. I followed the author's instructions, at least the best I could consider their less-than-clear writing. Hey, anyone else here on 2023? I've tried to use that deck (the one she mentioned in the video description) but it seems that is not available anymore. I'm also trying the android app but once I'm on the japanese public covers there are alot of decks and I couldn't find the one she mentioned (JLPT Tango N5 MIA Omega Deck). I would really appreciate if someone can give me a hand with that 💪

    Thank you for making the video, but it is probably obsolete now that Anki's UI has changed substantially. I'll need to look for a more up-to-date one.

    Best Anki video I've seen. Thanks! So you did this deck alongside going through Anki and Wani Kani?

    thanks for the vid! this makes me excited to start learning. I'm new in Japanese. My first textbook in Genki just came in. Any recommendations of other anki sources for fresh new learners? the cards in this video look really intimidating when I dont have the best grasp of hiragana yet

    Hello ! It's a very good video, I think it's a quick introduction for those who don't know how to use the app. By the way, I noticed the kanji wallpaper on your PC screen. Do you have a link of this wallpaper so I can download it, or even the name of it ?

    A very usefull video Alivia. Do you also make your own cards for words you encounter? If so, how do you go about doing it? What is your strategy?

    • @AliviasNook

      Thank you! I actually don’t make my own cards (I find it makes me less motivated to read), but I think it’s definitely a great strategy if you are up for it! I’d say pick how many cards you want to make per day, and once you reach it stop making cards and continue your reading. If you make a card for every single word you’ll never have time to review them!
