Let me start off by saying that in order to write the sentiment that you did…the one I’m replying to…you’d naturally have to be (and clearly are) highly intelligent, with an exquisite taste in music, poetry, theology , physics and philosophy etc… However, if I may offer a dissenting opinion RE: these lyrics being the basis of a religion…. What I would say is that, the research he is basing this is myopically focused in regards to how he extrapolates it out, from micro to macro; and using the transitive property between science and the human condition… however, this is also what creates the juxtaposition that makes this song so wonderfully, quirky and personal…. despite the seemingly clinical nature of its source material…. I supposed what I mean is that, often time, we look to concepts/constructs like science, to provide either the answers were looking for, or the excuses to not challenge ourselves appropriately to find those answers…
What a violin solo!! :O He is grade A musician. People can create electronic stuff and make hardcore grunge or rap their heads off, but none of it is as refined and graceful as Mr. Bird's music. There's nothing like a good old fashioned multi instrumentalist. Where did all the classical instruments go anyways? They're so versatile and lovely. Not to mention his whistling is mighty dreamy.
Wow. I saw Andrew Bird live last night. I can't believe how amazing he is live. Was not disappointed at all. Such a great show, even though it poured rain the entire night
absolutely incredible. I've watched this several times today and it blows me away each time. It's just a shame that on the albums his stuff is so hit and miss. One song is genius, the next one is boring and forgettable. Oh well, they can't all be Tom Waits.
i get what you're saying when it comes to his latest stuff, but earlier albums like the mysterious production of eggs, were as chalk full of character as anyone's, just like waits
He's keeping busy, yeah, he's bleeding stones With his machinations and his palindromes It was anything but hear the voice Anything but hear the voice It was anything but hear the voice that says that we're all basically alone Poor Professor Pynchon had only good intentions when he Put his Bunsen burners all away And turning to a playground in a Petri dish Where single cells would swing their fists at anything that looks like easy prey In this nature show that rages every day It was then he heard his intuition say We were all basically alone And despite what all his studies had shown That what's mistaken for closeness is just a case of mitosis And why do some show no mercy while others are painfully shy? Tell me doctor, can you quantify? He just wants to know the reason why The reason why Why do they congregate in groups of four, Scatter like a billion spores and let the wind just carry them away? How can kids be so mean? Our famous doctor tried to glean as he went home at the end of the day In this nature show that rages every day It was then he heard his intuition say We were all basically alone Despite what all his studies had shown That what's mistaken for closeness is just a case of mitosis Sure fatal doses of malcontent through osmosis
props to the recording engineer, this sounds damn near like it was a live studio recording, i especially LOVE the way the bass sounds in this
This is what I show ppl to introduce him to them. I find that ppl who are serious musicians are the one's who really stand in awe of this man.
An underrated musical and lyrical genius
oh well, hopefully he'll become overrated someday.
@@TSpike73 it's really hard to overrate him imo. You gotta make a religion of him to overrate
Underrated by whom?

Its rare when you get someone with such amazing thought, and its so worth it when you do. True genius
god i love him. he is so amazingly talented and alluring.
Since everyone else has already remarked what a talented handsome man Bird is, the hair of his bassist/now guitarist is amazing : D
I seem to find myself always going back to this particular performance of this song. So, so wonderful!
He has such control over his whistle-range; he has mastered the art of whistlery.
it's crazy how much all these musicians have to be counting to be so on. it's almost flawless. so glad i stumbled upon this guy.

Richard Geraghty who is Tom Waits?
Music isn't objective. I totally disagree with your opinion. Opinion is the keyword. You should remember that when writing music critiques
The best!!!!!!!!!!

That man is just too awesome
He is so talented!
Sad I can't play this to someone who I know would have loved it xx
His guitar is so beautiful. It's had a lot of love!
Anyone else find the tempo and pitch change of the loop at the end spectacular?
He should really put some bells on his head because that's how badly his head wants to make music.

Andrew is an elegant man.

It's a technique known as Pizzicato.
He has a black belt in whistle-smithery.

Do you realize he's playing the violin like a guitar?

People ask me why I don't rate Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson and Goyte. It's because Andrew Bird exists.

Are you fucking kidding me????????????????!!!!!!!!??????
6 people would rather be listening to lady gaga =(
Oniric...
I miss this andrew bird. When Martin Dosh was his drummer
