    I played fast pitch 30 years ago. These pitchers are balking on every pitch. You can't leap off the rubber prior to delivery.

    Back in 1978 thru 1990 we had teams in California that would beat these guys in the video, no brag just fact. WAY BETTER PLAYERS back then when fastpitch was very popular. These pitchers in the video would have been average back when I played. No crow hopping either. Jim Stupin, Chuck De-arci, Eddie Feigner......We played teams from New Zealand and those guys threw 90MPH from 43 feet.....That's like a 115mph fastball. These guys are good on this video no doubt but I'm telling you as a fact, they would have been run of the mill back in the heyday of fastpitch.....

    • @stevedakota943
      @stevedakota943 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chuck was a good pitcher but did not throw anywhere near 90 and was known as a finesse pitcher not a hard thrower. The hardest throwers are actually around 80 mph. Peter Meredith from New Zealand threw the hardest. Brad Underwood from Owen Sound was the hardest throwing lefty. Mark Smith of California threw hard too. Ty Stofflet from Allentown in his prime was among the very best. Pitching was actually from 45 feet. around 70 at 45 feet is comparable reaction time to a 115 mph fastball. Appreciate your enthusiasm but time exaggerated your memory a bit.

      @@MeLoNHeAd00 They started putting stickum on the ball in the 80's. Cheating bastards. Michael White would use a whole can of it. The pitchers a few years back were much better than today. One reason was the shear numbers of pitchers. Nobody today throws as hard as Meredith and Underwood. Doubt they can move it around like a Tangeroa or finesse it like a Michael White.

    I can't stand the crow hop. Too bad the men's game decided long ago to accept this style. Did they ever change the rules books to formally allow it or is it just accepted? I fail to see the need for it. It does not enhance the weight transfer or leg drive.

      Hitters would have their way with pitchers if pitchers aren't allowed to hop off the rubber. Yes it does provide more forward momentum, and decrease the distance from the ball to the plate

    • @ajojoe5316
      @ajojoe5316 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@spencerschaan8647 It's more indicative of the lack of pitching talent the game has these days. .... Ty Stofflet didn't crow hop....Kevin Herlihy didn't crow hop....and I can assure you none of today's hitters would "have their way" with those guys.

    • @spencerschaan8647
      @spencerschaan8647 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ajo Joe I was not alive when the rule change was made to allow crow hopping. What was the reasoning? Was bat technology becoming too advanced that the pitchers needed something extra? Yes there are not as many elite pitchers today like in Stofflet’s time but there are at least a few.

    These guys defense is horrible. Go watch women’s college fast pitch softball. Why don’t they have to keep their foot on the ground and stay on the power line? Would be to hard for men to multi task.

    • @Tevatron044
      @Tevatron044 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even with this level of skill, any pitcher on this team would dominate the ncaa if allowed. Monica Abbot holds the record for the fastest pitch in women's fastpitch at 77 mph and the average is 65 mph. That's Rec league quality in the men's level. The fence is 60 feet further than NCAA st 285 feet dead center. There has never been an NCAA women's fastpitch home run farther than 280 feet. If anything, the fact that the NCAA and AIAW forced fastpitch to be a women's only sport to comply with Title IX destroyed the sport itself, which is why finding the male talent is difficult when the perception is that fastpitch is the girl's version of baseball when in fact, men play fastpitch and women are amazing at baseball like the leagues in Japan. If you were to look at the men's leagues from 40 years ago, it would blow your mind. Only the legends like Joan Joyce were able to play in those leagues. Whereas today, the only women's team I could think of that could compete in men's fastpitch today would be Oklahoma or a time traveling international all star team of the legends like Lauren Chamberlain, Keilani Rickets, Jennie Finch, Lisa Fernandez, Tanya Harding, etc.
