  • Hong Kong is known the world over as a glamorous city and a top choice for luxury shopping. I went outside from airport to visit the city during the month of October, 2019 during protest. I found it safe for travelers.
If you need any info regarding itinerary or how to plan your trip during layover, feel free to message me in comment box.

@@tba1453 hi it was very easy actually. Take the AirPort Express and it’s about 25 min ride. It drops u off in downtown , then take a very quick taxi to Victoria Peak. I forget the name of the exit but ask someone at airport and they can tell u . Enjoy!

Hey I had a query , so I have 15 hour lay over at Hong Kong on my trip from Bangalore to San Francisco using Cathay Pacific. So my queries are
    1. Did you have to check out and check in your bags again ?
    2. So with just the transit visa , we can exit airport through immigration and get back before our next flight right?
And any other important points we need to keep in mind before doing this.

      1. You don’t need to checkout or checkin luggage again, you will collect your bags at your final destination, if both of your flights are on the same itinerary.
      2. Yes, you can exit the airport with transit visa to visit the city and come back before your ongoing flight.

I have a 18 hours layover at hongkong. How do I get the transit visa? Could you elaborate please 🙏

It depends on nationality. For Indian citizens, It is a free visa on arrival and only “pre arrival registration” form needs to be filled in online. You can check your transit visa requirements here by selecting your country- www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/visas/visit-transit/visit-visa-entry-permit.html#notes

    Wonderful Video Mr Nitish
    BUT
You need to make it more self speaking by adding whether you reached/stepped onto Victoria Harbour or not as somewhere in your video you have written, " That is where Victoria Harbour is..". It is not very clear that Star Ferry left you on Victoria Harbour Side or just sailed past and that how you came back_whether using the same Star Ferry back or what? Further, does one need to buy another set of Return ticket or same old ticket works on Star Ferry i.e. return is free or not?
Please clarify from where one can again board a Public bus to return to Downtown Area and eventually reach Airport Express. If not mistaken, the Airport Express return is stated as absolutely free by you in your video. Please also clarify if one can again board Airport Express Train at Victoria Harbour instead of goi g back to Central Ferry Pier and then to downtown and then to catch Airport Express Train. Please clarify/confirm.
I am very scared and going for the first time to Hong Kong during my stopover of 18 Hours at Hongkong. Hence, little clarifications shall help travelers like me in a big way.
Also please advise if you have ever gone to 1. Avenue of Stars (The iconic promenade) 2. Tian Tan Buddha
Hope you shall definitely reply and shall not disappoint.
    Thanx in advance.

      Thanks for your detailed feedback.
I purchased one way ticket for Star Ferry from Central Ferry Pier to Victoria Harbour, so yes I stepped onto the Victoria Harbour; thats where Star Ferry stop was. I did not come back using Star Ferry to Central Ferry Pier side. I just took the Airport Express train from the Victoria Harbour station to the airport. Hope this clarifies your questions.

Thanx again for the quick reply.
However, you didn't touch my other point like, "Also please advise if you have ever gone to 1. Avenue of Stars (The iconic promenade) 2. Tian Tan Buddha"
How about food. I am a vegetarian.

@@128a51achd I did not go any of those places you mentioned as I did not have much time left after covering those destinations. I took the lounge at the airport and thats where I ate.
