I'm so glad you opted to do a video course! I have been fooling around with PIC's for 20 years but mostly with canned programs created by someone else. I bought your developement board and additional PIC chips and downloaded the material, but have had limited success. I'm more of a visual guy and that's why I'm excited to see you here on TH-cam!
1:34. This is not a reason to work with PIC you can built whatever you like without shields. But you need to work with them if your company is working only with PIC for reasons....

This board is excellent. If you want to get started with PIC the tutorials are thorough and clear.
