Dire! I have played with bees in like 1.6 in agrarian skies(like, a lot), and if it has not changed you WILL NEED A GENETIC STABILIZER UPGRRADE on your industrial apiaries if you want to keep the bees from mutating back to their old traits! It is visible between rain upgrade and jungle upgrade in 21:51
Not been the case for me, after having 1000+ cycles on my bees, they still haven't changed any traits ( I customized all of them, so I would've noticed )
well, if you modify them, at some point they can return to their original traits like fastest can turn into fast on the queen, which can screw the whole farm if you don't have 40 + good modified drones
Flowers:flowers is a good trait to keep! This way, you don’t have to keep all kinds of flowers around for the bees and just use vanilla flower (unless you don’t mind having to get the different flower types, in which case go ahead and not keep it).
I never really liked Gendustry, mainly because I highly prefer normal Forestry mechanics. I feel like they reward you well for fully understanding them. Also, I don't really want bees to be fast. I consider it a more relaxing task that you do on the side.
Would you care to devise a system that would constantly keep a certain amount of basic crafting components in your system, like hoppers, various gears, redstone torches, e.t.c.? So that when you`re crafting something new you won`t have to constantly switch between different crafting recipes because you realize that you are missing these components.
was hoping you would take a look at the binnies bee stuff. i agree that gendustry makes bees much less grindy i am wondering if the binnies stuff is similar?
I agree, I also prefer binnies, however now it requires you to have royal jelly/pollen to get started with the genetics stuff but I find that is a much better trade off than just having some power and the ores to make the gendustry machines and you can get any ore bee you want fairly quick
For those who complain about GenDustry... yes, it's not for everyone, but not everyone likes spending hours upon hours grinding and grinding... some folks just wanna have fun, and need bees in a utility sense. If you don't like it, don't use it. No one's forcing you to use a mod. To be fair, it does balance it out with RF and other resources, so it's not like you get a magic box that just makes it work.
Yeah, the RF cost is actually pretty damn hardcore if I recall, though honestly, they should make mutagen from nether stars or something instead. Like, 1 star makes quite a bit, but you need a reliable source of stars before you can use it.

Taking the waiting and luck out of Forestry kind of goes against its mechanics. Understanding Forestry mechanics rewards you with having to wait less and reducing the impact luck has. Imagine a trading card game where you decide what card you draw at the start of your turn, that's Gendustry.
I think you're right. But then again, the waiting and the luck don't really mesh well with a high subscriber streaming TH-cam channel. It's unlikely we'll enjoy the waiting and luck on camera quite as much as we may enjoy it in our own Minecraft worlds. It's possible, and I roughly quote from dire during his skyblock playthrough, that people prefer bees because "chickens are entity based while bees are block based" so bees have much less lag than chickens.
Chickens (which I love) are many times more powerful than bees and I think are primarily used in sky blocks or ultra casual mode packs. Easy to breed up, minimal infrastructure required, and I think more output per entity. Chickens will definitely kill your FPS if you have enough, but I think the reason they don’t get included is for balance reasons.
I know for a fact the redstone furnace from TE worked for gene samples in 1.10 as I have a system set up with them on my server. Possibly a bug in the newer version?
@Direwolf20: I found I can't make the armored resonant flux pack, the recipe is missing and the invar armor doesn't attach to it, so I can't make the Flux infused Chestplate without cheating it in. :(
Yeah :(. well not a huge issue for me, I just deleted the items and cheated it in. But for the work I just don't feel the same sense of accomplishment getting the item from a craft, lol.
Melt uranium into tinkers smeltery, and put it into ingot cast, you get yellorium! Did a melted uranium dimension + pump + tinkers and got infinite yellorium :D
Guys i want to get into bees in my own world but do i need to have like super high tech level to get into bees? i am not in a bad situation but i took a different path and i am not in a place where dire is.
Also you can do bees the manual way when you have nothing more than wood and wool. If you want it semi-automated you need some basic RF and item transport. Gendustry could have been done back in episode 10 if Dire had wanted to (the power consumption is pretty small if you use the regular Forestry Apiary)

There definitely used to be an Industrious Bee that came from Common and Cultivated. The last time I played with bees was 1.7.10, so I couldn't tell you when that got changed.

Does anyone else think dire should just auto import the combs into the machine and then have them extracted? Like do you need combs for anything? And even if you did, you could just have it export when there's more than a stack...

You can actually use a Mechanical user with sunflowers on a Teru Teru Bozu from Botania for the same effect. All you need is 1 sunflower and bone meal.

You didn't need those liquid pipes it seems. The mutagen was already in the machine as soon as you placed it.

Haven't had that happen. Ever. Genetic stabilizer upgrade is so you can run ignoble bees without them dying.

I prefer to put Flowers: Stone on all my bees. Just dump a stone or cobble block nearby and all is well forever.

binnies stuff is in between. Mutation is still random, but you have tools for increasing the chances.

You should use a forestry squeezer. It gives you DNA for clearing up the sample. Only problem is is sometimes (as a bug) loses the blank sample.
do you remember regrowth? it taught you about the Hibeescus? it let you turn your ignoble bees to pristine useing mana and takes two days

The AA double furnace doesn't dupe. It's fast enough for most uses and can be automated.
But there's a chance the AA Furnace won't take it.
I know AA Furnace works because I set up basic automation with it over a month ago on the server I play on.

Dire the mutagen producer autopushes fluid so you didn't need the fluiducts.

I love GenDustry. I love Bees even without it, but when you've done it a couple of times GenDustry just makes things faster and less of a hassle.
