The reason Soul Food 2 has the same beat is that it was supposed to be Soul Food 1, but they couldn't clear the sample back in the day so they had to remake it themselves. Now that logic is ballin, he paid to clear the sample and finally got to use it. I think it's awesome
man i is is your guys' speed , it sounds like its ripped straight off the incredible true story . I can see ryan loving those horns & george bopping his head to the chill but hard hitting beat . A beautiful song
The sample which was used in “man i is” is actually very famous because J Dilla (legendary hip-hop producer) used it with Erykah Badu in “didn’t cha know”. They both probably love the Dilla & Badu song so either they also gonna like logics song or they will be unsatisfied because logic took that legendary sample and didn’t got all the potential of it
Evs come on man its for sure the same beat just reimagined since they got the sample logic originally wanted. Its like a remix, for sure different but its got the original at its core

I agree withthis comment :D People still saying Logic ain't hip hop and trynna bring the racial thing into it. Just give props where props due. Skin colour don't matter.
While I love Soul Food 2, I don't see the second part as a beat switch and more of a separate song at the end of Soul Food 2, so I could see that part getting mixed reactions and especially if the person isn't familiar with the storyline in TITS.

I agree with George’s point that when the beat changes in certain songs you find yourself wanting more from one of the two beats, however I think if the whole song was the second instrumental it wouldn’t have the same effect. The change in instrumentals really makes the second beat stand out and increases its impact when you hear it switch.
Ricardo Barrera yeah but they’ve said that the massive view increases from Logic vids are what got them to keep going because they were about to quit before the growth from logic vids

I believe it’s more of a reference to when The Roots used it for “A Peace of Light” considering he’s a huge fan of The Roots. Great sample use either way.
Love this! Yall went through all the good bars and the ways he makes the song good. So many rappers will ignore or not hear those and say he's walk. Love from the Rattpack ❤
He didn't use the same beat lol. It had the original sample that he wanted to use for Soul Food 1. It sounds noticeably different. It shares similarities, but the sample is now the original sample rather than a remake of the sample like in the first one. Just compare the two, they're different
I think he meant in general they’re the same beat because they are. The sample is the same with like you said, a bit of a difference but in general I think he means they’re pretty much the same beat

Y'all damn near had my exact reaction to this song. This song really sums up a lot of the talent that Logic has had throughout his career. Reminiscent of the incredible true story for sure in this song. I love how you guys have noticed one of his most talented qualities and that's Logics ability to make a great sounding sound.
The intro of the song is a reference to the movie “Love Jones” but with a minor change in the dialogue!!! He also references the same movie in his early work like “Can I Love”

The reason Soul Food II has a similar beat to the first is because that’s the original sample that couldn’t get cleared. That’s the reason I like it because background info makes it more meaningful
Guys, I love your reviews and if you do more rock would love to hear your reaction to Muse. Especially with your love for drums. bchatt1024 only the second half samples Gold Watch

Soul Food 2 has the real sample. Gonna have to harshly disagree with you about that song. Crazy bars, fire sample, good beat switch.
Honestly though I agree , it’s opinions at the end of the day.
+ its kinda contradicting to say because george is a jayz fan and jayz did the same thing with dead presidents. But again opinions
Yes in his livestream Logic said they weren’t able to get the real sample the first time which is why he opted for the part 2
Logic could literally pull a Kanye poop deedee scoop and y’all would still say it’s fire
