  • Note-taking is one of the most underrated skills in law school in the Philippines. Abot-langit ang hanga natin sa mga classmates natin na organized ang notes. Abot-langit din naman ang hiya natin na manghiram ng mga notes nila. Notes will allow you to cut your review time for the exams in half. They will help you study ahead of schedule.
    Notes also give us that intense buff of confidence that we are coming to class truly prepared, ready to recite and ready to learn. Making notes is the first step towards our shared goal of coming to law school ready for a quiz every day. If you proceed from the presumption that there will be a quiz every meeting, you are already setting yourself with that real, tangible and actionable goal right from the very start.
    In this episode, I’ll be sharing with you how I make my notes, what I use them for and how to improve your note-taking skills for instant law school success.

    Sir I would like to add that writing notes is like having a muscle memory sa mga athletes.

      Comepletely agree, bro. There will be a point where answering an exam will feel like you’re re writing something you’ve already written down as a digest or part of your notes. When you get mechanical in an exam, that’s when you know you’re in the zone. ❤️😊🙏🏻

    Yas! Thank you sir Lex! And also, thank you because watching this vid just validated my habbit of "writing down what I read (sometimes word for word)... masasabi ko namang (I USED to think, at least) magaling ako sa comprehension, pero yung confidence ko dun bumaba because of my poor memorization skills. The habbit was my solution...it worked, but it definitely did not help me regain my confidence; it made me think baka slow ako. Watching this, and now knowing na ginagawa mo rin pala, is a huge thing for me. So thank you. Tsaka yes naman mabuhay tayong mga left-handed people. lol.

      Hi, sis. Thank you for sharing. Note-taking is one of the most useful skills you'll develop in law school. It relates in part, in your ability to discern what is important and what's nice to know, but not important. It'll also help you sort out the bar matters from the reading matters. When these two skills coincide, you'll be able to spot the issues with greater precision when you take your exams.
      Note-taking is a great daily habit that'll help you feel prepared and be more confident night, after night. Ang goal talaga natin dito ay pumasok nang handa sa klase, may quiz man o wala.
      Thank you for sharing, sis. Natuwa ako. May God bless you with the very best version of your law school dreams. 😊❤️🙏🏻

    Based on research that I've read few years back, but I can still remember the pie graph on my mind that writing down is more effective to retain what we needed to remember, rather than just listening to someone while they're speaking. Same as reading or listening to audios. Thanks to this vid Atty.

    I usually use steno notebooks for note taking but one of my profs require us to write our notes in a record book. Gtec 3 colors gamit ko for note taking para hindi space consuming since anlaki ng handwriting ko and anliit ng steno and record book and also, antagal maubos ng gtec

    Thanks for this Atty. :) I'm gonna start my 1st year proper this coming 1st semester although I took some advanced classes last sem already. Note taking was really one of those things I struggled with as I was trying to figure out what will work for me. Your crim law 1 video is also a big help to prep for next sem and I'm looking forward to improve on my note taking and I'm excited to take Crim Law as well. Can I ask for some advise po on how to improve on answering case questions during exams? I'm having some difficulties still on structuring my answers considering the time limit and making it on point. Thank you po and God bless.

    Sir Lex salamat sa mga videos na ito. I am binge listening to them and taking notes especially when classes are starting 2 months from now as of this writing. One question about note-taking I have always wanted to ask is the usage of a recording device especially an IC Recorder. What is your take on this and is it recommended that I buy one right now or is it up to the discretion of the professor? Thank you again for answering this question.

    • @LexInMotion
      @LexInMotion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for asking, kapatid. A lot of this would depend on the policy of your professors.
      Some have a clear desk policy - no pens or notes or anything on your desk.
      Others will even allow you to place your recorder on their desks.
      Hope this helps This Friday, let’s talk about the changes brought about by the Revised Corporation Code. 😊❤️🙏🏻.

    Hi Atty Lex,
    Question po. Should I read the assigned topic first before making notes or should I make my notes during the 1st reading?
    feel ko wala na akong time para mag notes dahil sa dami ng babasahin. :(

    • @LexInMotion
      @LexInMotion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, kapatid. Thank you for sharing. In this episode, I mentioned two methods I use. The first, I take notes while I am reading. Mabagal at matrabaho. The second is for when I am truly pressed for time.
      You have one thing going for you and that’s you’ll get better at it every day. Bibilis ka ring sumulat, bibilis din ang abilidad mong himayin ang batas, at sauluhin yung mga dapat kabisaduhin.
      Hope this helps. 😊❤️🙏🏻

    Sir Lex, as an incoming 1st year student, kailangan po ba lahat ng subjects may notebook even the subjects that are not included in the bar exam?

    • @LexInMotion
      @LexInMotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I've mentioned in my handwriting episodes that I do not keep notebooks. I write on yellow legal pads for work, school and for doodles. At the end of the day, I file my notes into separate folders (individual subjects, separate projects for work and others). This way, I don't "forget" my note book. At the end of the semester, I have them bound together.
      Hope this helps, bro. 😊❤️🙏🏻

      Some professors require that you keep a clean desk in both face to face and virtual classes. Others allow handwritten and printed notes. My recommendation is to ask your beadle or professor during the first day of classes.
      I hope this helps, kapatid. God bless you and your law school dreams. See you again on Friday! 😊❤️🙏🏻

    Sir do professors in law school allow students to use notes ( something that could remind them of what they've learned last night) during recitation? I mean they were holding notes while delivering their answers. I'm a PolSci student, its my pre-law course. Thank you sir!

    • @angelikacotejo5066
      @angelikacotejo5066 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mon Clemente Hi! Based on my experience, it really depends on the policy of the professors but they really prefer it if you don’t read your notes during recits
