I grew up in a small country in the East Africa ( Rwanda) but trust me Ja rule was a big name in all of Africa in early 000's and he really marked my childhood. We didn't know much English but i can still remember how as young boys we were trying to mimick his songs in our local dialects. It was more fun than you can imagine. He deserves all the respect.
Another amazing thing about your story is you said you didn’t know much English back then but are now capable of composing a comment so well that I personally feel like I can relate Inspiring shit bro👌🏽
I remember as a teenager I was forcing myself not to like this song because I was TEAM 50 lol but I loved this song too. Good job to Ja for not going down without a fight.
Rule was that guy... unique voice, always consistent, setting trends, making hits. Industry tried to play him when 50 showed up. It was crazy to see everybody turn on him.
@ Michael Bull I like Ja but him and Gotti got karma for trying to stop 50cent's come up. The had him blackballed by record companies until Eminem found him and gave him a shot.
I tell people all the time irv saved def jam he brought them jay X and ja rule their 3 biggest artist from 98-02 with ja probably bringing in the most money
Saw what u want. Ja made hit records. AT THE TIME were at top of the charts. Music changes over decades. Hard to survive when whole industry of juggernauts are against u. He did the best with what he had. props a+
I faded away from ja rules music awhile ago but as I listen to it again I understand why I liked his music in the first place.. its catchy and its actually good music... he had so many hits.. its a shame that he is no longer in the music bizz...
He's totally still in the music bizz, he just did a tour of australia I supported him on his Sydney leg, was a great show he did all the hits in an hour set - he's just got back with Irv Gotti. You can check out my performance from the night on my channel :)
"Young black and gifted but stuck at the bottom" He aint as young anymore, but he was certainly a gifted lyricist. No doubt. I mean.... FOUR. Four of his albums went platinum or mult-plat; because of what? Image? Nah, he was was gettin' air play. Even today I can't deny; Rule was a part of my soundtracks for some crazy good summers But then? It got more pop-like. Back and forth between thug and J-Lo - Then The FBI case? Then the 50 beef? Looking back? I dont think it was as much the beef between 50 and Rule, it was simply because 50 was critically on FIRE at the time it went down -By the time Ja dropped this? His best days were behind him. Like now. 50's best days? Seems like a generation ago. Oh yeah... cuz they were. Animal Ambition was turrible. Ja has the resume to speak for itself to warrant the comeback he desrves - and when I hear him speaking today? Sounds more like an adult. I look forward to a Ja Rule return - a real one. He's waiting for the right time. Smart.
