You can run the headlamp off a third-party power bank (i.e. with the 18650 completely removed). Available output levels depend on the power bank. With my old-school Dark Energy Poseidon, I had access to L/M for the two White output modes. You can charge some devices with the power bank. I used a USB-C -> Lightning, for example, to charge my iPhone 14 Pro MAX. Thank you.
Too bad the output tint of this headlamp is 6500k instead of maybe around 4000-5000k for outdoor use considering fog etc. Still love my fenix hl55 , nice neutral white tint for outdoor, lightweight yet robust solid body without any worry about charging cover port being damaged One issue is the head strap very poor quality, it stretch easily become loose So i mounted it to helmet with fenix alg 03, very secure Pro tip, you can use go pro wrist strap band too for more universal headlamp
That's an excellent question. In terms of base performance, you'd likely get much longer run times at a comparable level of illumination with the Fenix, but the Nitecore offers a much better balance between downrange punch and side-to-side visibility. Two rather different types of lights - it just depends on your UI preferences and use cases. It might be worth a future comparison video to better differentiate the two lights. Thank you.
@L5-SAR I was thinking the same thing 🤔 I thing the Fenix is better in a since you have a separate flood and spot beam . The nitecore always going to have a hot spot in whatever ur looking at .
The flood is also high CRI if that is of use to you. I did a 4K HDR night videography video using that headlamp for the SAR Team (private community on the channel). The Nitecore has a neutral flood (aux light), but it does not have much reach. You can see that in the field test. Good luck to you.
Thanks again for your generous support of the channel. I have considered it. I record in HDR, but post-production/delivery is SDR (sRGB/sRGB). This seems to work well in general for YT. I have to create a completely new Resolve project and grade/produce differently for HDR output (i.e. REC 2020/PQ 1000-nit). What I've considered the most is that since SAR Team members get advance releases of all review videos, I'll produce a second (shorter) HDR video of selected products and release that to the SAR Team only. Since you're a member and putting your $$$ where your comments are, I'll make that happen.
Mate your video is fukin excellent I'm now going to buy this light, you do a great job showing everything, keep up the good work, cheers from Australia, okay I bought it just after my comments and it's a beauty very happy with it definitely recommend.
Finally Fenix has a headlamp with a higher red output than 10 lumens. I was super intrigued when I got the email saying this was a new release. Might just have to grab one. Now I’ve only got one question, can you go straight to red from it being off and not have to go through spot and flood?
It would have been interesting to add a second off position at the end of the rotation. You could go forward Red -> Off, then back for Off -> Red. Thank you.
If you have both batteries connected, you have a LOT of run time. Output is higher on the 35R. You get a nice Red light o the 75R. I suppose it comes down to which light best meets your expected use cases. Good luck!!

Only the flood is high CRI
Excellent would love to get one of this hm75r ❤❤
How does this compare with the nitecore hc65 uhe?

@@L5-SAR Thanks, keep up the good work
Hi can you run a powerbank on the HM71r when it is in use thanks.
You can run the one supplied by Fenix or sub in another. YMMV relative to output and total run time. Thank you.
I really liked your HDR short. Have you considered doing a full product review in HDR? Would like to see at least one.

Best business trip I ever took back in the day was to Australia. Thanks.
Good day sir. Can you please tell me how i can make the headlamp to use power from the small battery AND the power extender at the same time?

No. There is no direct-to-red from off. Have to turn the dial. Thank you.
@@L5-SARhmmm that’s unfortunate. Thanks.

@@L5-SAR So you basically have to blind yourself before accessing the red? That's really not optimal at all.
I go back and forth between red and the other modes (on lower levels) often when using this headlamp for reviews and have never blinded myself. YMMV.
i have hard time to choise between this and hp35r. i need more battery capasity than old hm65r.
Ouh now i see, you can't charge it same time if extended battery is connected? So 35 would be better for me.

I use cheap streamline cap light all the time but it’s time I get a longer run time now with all the hell Americans weather has caused 😢😢😢
Not being able to access red directly from off is a total deal breaker. What were they thinking?!
Are you serious???
Can we access the red directly?
No.
