Rallye 7 Vallees Artois 2023 - The Brits

The 9th edition of the Rallye of the Seven Vallees Artois saw the entry of nineteen crews entered in vehicles from the UK. Eighteen and a half crews were from the UK as one of the British based cars was co-driven by a Frenchman. The R7VA is becoming ever more popular with British Teams as it provides an excellent Hillrally style competition towards the end of the season and less than an hour's drive from Calais.
Justin Birchall and Andy Powell took first place in the T1 Group by the narrow margin of just 4.9 seconds pushing Chris Bird and Anthony Brinkman into second place. Justin and Andy went on to take third place behind Chris Bird at the Plaines Rallye three weeks later and this was sufficient to secure the Championship titles for both driver and co-driver by the margin of just one point.
This year it was a very wet event and that clearly suited some of the crews whoose performance seemed unafected by the conditions. Due to the adverse weather I was not able to capture as many pictures as I had hoped, however here are a few views of the British entries.

Dix-huit équipages et demi étaient originaires du Royaume-Uni, l'une des voitures basées au Royaume-Uni étant copilotée par un Français. La R7VA devient de plus en plus populaire auprès des équipes britanniques car elle offre une excellente compétition de style Hillrally vers la fin de la saison et à moins d'une heure de route de Calais.
Justin Birchall et Andy Powell ont pris la première place du groupe T1 avec une marge étroite de seulement 4,9 secondes, poussant Chris Bird et Anthony Brinkman à la deuxième place. Justin et Andy ont ensuite pris la troisième place derrière Chris Bird au Plaines Rallye trois semaines plus tard, ce qui a suffi à assurer les titres de champion pour le pilote et le copilote avec une marge d'un seul point.
Cette année, c'était une épreuve très humide et cela convenait clairement à certains équipages dont les performances ne semblaient pas affectées par les conditions. En raison du mauvais temps, je n'ai pas pu prendre autant de photos que je l'avais espéré. Voici cependant quelques vues des participants britanniques.
