  • Adele Romfh teaches first grade at Irby Elementary School in Alachua.
“I want to create a community in my room. It is all about love first and making those relationships” said Romfh.
Mrs. Romfh has been at Irby for 6 years.
She has taught ESE and kindergarten and is now teaching first grade.
She enjoys seeing the development of her students. “Seeing them come from kindergarten, where they’re learning about numbers and putting them together. Now we’re getting into the writing and delving into some of these concepts. Their writing this year has just been fantastic, and they get so proud of themselves for being able to do something they didn’t think they could do” said Romfh.
Mrs. Romfh grew up watching her mom be a teacher and said she’s always been destined to be one.
She describes her teaching style as compassionate loving and family-oriented.
These are traits principal Tanya Floyd agreed with. “She’s dedicated. She goes above and beyond. She’s committed to supporting her students through every facet of their learning, to their social and emotional support” said Floyd.
Mrs. Romfh said she hopes to teach for years to come. “I tell my husband all the time, I can’t see myself doing anything else. This is my job, this is what I’m meant to do.”
