    Where do you think Severance ranks in Apple TV+ Sci-Fi shows? Dark Matter, Foundation, Silo - there's so many to choose from!

      Foundation fucking sucks, so idiotically written crap for empty headed dorks who don't like to think, so can't even place it on a list and I haven't watched Dark Matter.
      So here's my list:
      1. Severance (pretty much a prefect show, when even the color grading is top tier, you can't lose)
      2. Silo (even with some stupidity in it's writing, it's still a great and captivating show)

      *_Okay, hear me out. All of this is taking place in the brain. You've got three Marks. You've got the innie, the outy. Then you got what I'm going to call the intuition Mark That can carry information back and forth between the innie and the outy._*
      *_Then you have intuition Mark's sister and brother-in-law and the baby. But the thing about that is that The sister Is this brain's rationale. The brother-in-law is the imagination. And the baby is when we're being a baby. Then you have the "executives" Which would be like a persons executive function which is like what controls a humans heart beat and keeping a persons lungs breathing on its own. But the executive function doesn't communicate with the any of those Marks that I was just talking about before. You got Cobell and Milchick, which is the prefrontal cortex. They are what's in charge of all the other marks or all of the other parts of the brain. Cobell was the prefrontal cortex that was in charge of this person before milchic refined the prefrontal. This is why milchik and corbell are not severed because that part of the brain would not need to be need to be in order to make all of this work. The green door with all the ancient symbols is the doorway to the central nervous system. That's the oldest part of the brain. Marx's wife isn't Marks wife She is his mate, but she's his opposite. She's his feminine side, and Mark is the masculine side. Corbell remembers being part of luman since she was a child. So that part of the brain is the last part of the brain that develops and you start from baby prefrontal cortex to adult prefrontal cortex and then ultimately in control of the whole system. Cobell/Cortex._*
      *_Then you got emotion which would be the two gay guys. I come up with a few more connections that has done slipped my mind but basically you get the idea of what my concept is. So if this ends up being right then make sure to show some love. Oh yeah, the work that they are doing on the computers are rewriting the brain or refining rather. And I think their whole scheme is that they want to rewrite every human. I think that's what the imagery of the guy feeding the goat was supposed to symbolize. That dude with the beard is trying to clone himself into every human. That big dude in the suit that sets in that room next to that ancient green door It's like the guard between that part of the brain that has language and the part of the brain that doesn't have language, that's why he doesn't talk. I just realized that Millkick or however you spell his name might be that part of the brain that will override the prefrontal cortex and its good judgment capabilities. Because when you are hungry That literally overrides your good judgment because food is the most essential. So he could quite literally be a meal check._*

    The blackface Kier moment was probably one of the best scenes this show has had. As a person of color in a corporation, we have all had to share that Natalie look with each other at one point of “I know, but we have to behave”
    She killed that scene. The difference between what her eyes and smile were saying was nothing but impressive

    The moment between Natalie and Milchick speaks even so much more when you're connected to Black lineage. The nonverbal looks in each other's eyes is so important when you're a person of color in the workplace. To me, i saw Milchick's look saying "what the fuck is this shit?" And Natalie's look saying "I know, right! but keep it together and act grateful. They're watching and listening."

    • @mzmendy
      @mzmendy 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +24

      That lip tremble spoke volumes, or said nothing.
      Natalie was assessing Milkshake's face for clues, but you're not sure WHICH clues.
      Was she deathly afraid he'd spazz? Or was she searching for a sign he isn't completely loyal to Keir?
      I caught that they used the word 'uppity' about Devon and wondered if it would have layers.
      I saw the after show commentary and Tillman proposed that his character may not be aware that he's Black. And THAT blew my mind.

    • @mzmendy
      @mzmendy 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      But I wonder, in Natalie's paintings, were they of Keir's Wife? Or of a female Eagan scion like Myrtle? Cause I know, 1 would make me feel like less than the other. As a Black Woman that 1 scene added even MORE weight than this show was already carrying.

    I was so touched by Dylan this episode. In season 1 we saw how he fantasized about how great his outies could be. After he met his son, everything changed for him with the experience bringing to the surface how much he must love his children. But now he's facing the fact that not only is he not the grand man of his dreams but also he's the type of man his family can't depend on. How devastating! The innie Dylan we've come to know is funny, loyal, intelligent, and courageous. He's now in a dreadful position, left to choose between his real family and his work family.

      I feel like this breaks a lot of norms with modern television. A lot of times today, I feel like show writers would drag out the decision to reintegrate for a few episodes or make it a big fight against the clock or against a pursuing force to reintegrate in the finale, and make us wait to see its effects until the next season. They really just let it happen, with no unrealistic or questionable decisions, just a quick decision to reintegrate with no going back at the last second (another thing that too many pieces of media do). I fully expected something to go horribly wrong, there to be complications, Mark to bail out, Mark to say that he will “think about it” until some grand revelation forces him to reintegrate, or anything like that. Loved how they did it, can’t wait for next Friday.

    Mrs. Cobel got super nervous and left when she saw the guy next to Helena. Recently one guy has been operating the "export floor" aka the spooky black elevator where people get reset.
    I think that was the guy and thats why Harmony was so scared

    • @renx81
      @renx81 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'm thinking that guy possibly replaced Graner after he was killed, as the security manager for the severed floor. It would make sense then that he'd be the one guarding the "exports hall", which probably started right after they "retired" Ms. Casey. It also tracks that Harmony would be aware of that fact, so your theory makes sense.

    1. Harmony clocking that it's weird how the board just out of nowhere would have time for her leading her to flee in terror is the sanest decision in the entire show.
    2. Milkshake receiving blackface'd painings has strong "corporations celebrate pride month" vibes. A corp will be exclusionary and horrible to every minority whenever it can, but they will use imagery to pretend they aren't.
    3. It feels like a major faux-pas to me that Lumon would allow Dylan to meet his outtie's actual wife. Just get an actress and you can steer it anyway you want without any danger. This might come back to bite them.

    • @princessthyemis
      @princessthyemis 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +17

      Yeah!!! I was thinking the wife was going to be a Lumon actress, but she was real?! And they didn't wipe her mind or blindfold her on the way out or anything?! Everything they do as a coldly caculated reason behind it, so why did they just let her in?! :O

      @@princessthyemis The way I see it: They are in a confrontational argument. Helena offers to call the board and says they agree to meet/talk. Out of NOWHERE. At first she thinks she got everything she wanted but then it dawned that it's the Lumon board. Whatever they are, they wouldn't be available on such short notice at that time of day, and Helena wouldn't give in this quickly. It was a transparent trap, so she ran. The "chauffeur"/enforcer was just to hammer it home.
      Also, Gretchen makes less and less sense to me. It takes a second of a slip-up and suddenly they'd have to kill her to avoid the message getting out. And Dylan to boot, because oDylan knows she's visiting iDylan. And the kids, probably.

    As someone who works in corporate this is so relatable. Cobalt and Millchick are like the middle managers of companies who are torn! They are not happy with the treatment from their employer yet they were given a higher status compared to the rest so they feel loyal and devoted even though it’s conflicting. I feel like my supervisor is in this category. She grumbles about upper management and the decisions they make but some of her actions tell me she is still somewhat in the cahoots with them probably because of her given position and compensation. It’s kind of like the abused wife who despises her abusive husband but still feel dedicated to him and will take his side even after the fact of being mistreated!

    I agree that Dillon's wife is probably digging the 'inny' version and the way she kinda shrugged off talking to 'outy' dillion about the visit makes me think she's almost treating the encounter as if she were maybe considering pursuing a 'separate' relationship with the inny version. She was alomst acting like she was 'cheating' on the outy version with the inny? 😏

    I don’t even think I would call Keir being depicted as black for Milchik’s benefit as blackface (in response to other ppl’s comments). It feels rather closer to tokenism. It feels similar to when corporations will say they are diverse and inclusive, depicting people of non-white ethnic background and culture on company documents, but are not in reality. It’s just to make a person from ‘lower levels’ (as viewed by upper management-the board) feel somewhat important (but Milchik sees through it)
    Edit. Also, great summary and analysis, as always! I agree: not the strongest/most impactful, but still great episode. Being allowed to explore more the outie perspective this season has really been good

Just like the innies retain learned knowledge from the outside world, yet do not remember anything from their own lives, perhaps Irving retained knowledge of Kier, the manual, etc. which is why he is so much more of a follower of “kierism” than everyone else.

    I could be completely wrong, but it seemed like certain goats were close to a particular caretaker at the Mammalian Nurturable (ie: a white goat who stayed closeby Gwendoline). For instance, when Gwendoline rung the cowbell, all of the hidden caretakers appeared out of nowhere to backup Gwendoline; a few goats also surrounded Mark & Helena, keeping close & mimicking their caretaker. I believe that a few selected goats must have been mentally integrated with a conscious, conscience, or possibly even a subconscious connection with particular caretakers. It could mean that Lumon is or has conducted a different form of severed & unsevered experiments on those human caretakers, who are paired up with their mental connection to those goats specifically chosen best for them. This could be an extended version of Lumon's cloning & mental/mind-integration experiments. 🤔

      The Limo driver looks EXACTLY like the statue of Baird Eagan (CEO #4).
      Check out season 1's visit to the Perpetuity Wing.
      Cobel recognized him and figured that Lumon was resurrecting the dead.

      I think that has something to do with sleep. Irvs outie stays up late painiting, his innie was seen falling asleep at work and was punished for it. Plus he saw the black paint but didnt know the meaning. Maybe falling asleep as innie unlocks memories/dreams of outie. Which is why he was punished for it

    As weird as it may sound, I don’t think it’s Helena who’s going to work. There’s some things about Helly that seems sus, but I feel like it being her outie it’s predictable and the writers would come up with something better. At this point, I’m leaning towards it just being iHelly, who for some reason is acting sus after what she saw up there, or Helena has reintegrated. I hadn’t considered this, but after Mark did in this episode, it could make sense. Helena reintegrating seems strange, because her innie and her outie have very different goals, but perhaps it’s some sort of “official” reintegration that Lumon can do, so in a way she is both Helly and Helena. Would explain the sus things, and also what she says to mark on episode 1 about not owing anything to their outies. Idk. I just don’t think it’s so clear cut it’s Helena going to MDR

      I agree that it's definitely not clear cut, and frankly, it irks me when people speak with absolute certainty whichever way they lean. The question is deliberately left open, and I have a feeling that they have a good reason for keeping it this way for as long as they have. Future episodes will tell.

    Lumen is so evil. They are manipulating innie Dylan for their purposes. Exposing innie Dylan to elements of his outie life such as his wife is obviously going to cause turmoil for both versions of Dylan. I believe their intention is to have his wife convince outie Dylan and Lumen to just do away with outie Dylan because je is the more productive and productive version of himself.
