Speed Up Your Pistol Draw From Concealment

  • When drawing from concealment, there is an additional step that must take place. The clearing of any clothing away and off of the gun so you can get a proper grip on your firearm is an important part of the process. It may be a shirt that must be lifted, a jacket, or a cover shirt that must be swept away. The ability to do that quickly and efficiently under stress is critical for the CCW owners! In most self-defense situations draw time is critical.

Outstanding video! That’s how I draw but you’re explanation made it easier to break it down into its component parts

Breaking down the skill and creating layers of tasks helps with the progression of improvement. 👍🏻

@@TacticalPerformanceCenter absolutely it’s always easier for me to learn new skills by breaking it down.

@@TacticalPerformanceCenter Outstanding and I will keep a eye out for it as I am in the process of changing from the 3 o'clock IWB to the AIWB due to an old injury to my right shoulder . And AIWB is more closer to where my hands will naturally be at and the move is faster and smoother. But somehow I don't clear my shirt or contact it just right everytime on demand as sometimes I grab for it and my hand moves upwards but the shirt is left behind. So right now I'm in the process of going slower and really thinking, feeling and focusing on just what's taking place to try an get a feel for what right feels like . But it would be a big help from you that I also see what right looks like 🇺🇸👍 and again Thanks A Million .

What about drawing from under a shirt with a iwb hostler with a thumb break and a safety on the gun. The gun is a smith & Wesson 45 shield 2.0 may not be the same as range shoot but more in line with conceal and carry type of drawing any pointers on this other than practice. I carry at the 3:30 position.

A little different than I learned from Bill Jordan's No Second Place Winner. To me it seems that a revolver would be faster for the first shot. I have a 1911 light weight Commander .45 and can't reach the thumb safety with my shooting hand as I draw. I'm thinking I might have to go to a different gun for carry OR carry it with the thumb safety off. What would you do? The grip safety is still engaged either way.

Do you consider using thinner grip pannes, so your thumb will reach the safety easier? ☝🏻 Remember, you only disengage the safety when the gun is pointed toward the threat and you are committed to the shot!
