I like how Jun "thanks" the magnetic knife holder for being helpful. He is so respectful even to an object, he folds the wood cover instead of just crumpling it. This is a concept that the rest of the world has a hard time understanding.
He probably follow´s the KonMari Method. :)

My Japanese host grandmother did that as well when I asked her where to throw out my broken shoes. She said "Otsukaresama deshita", bowed and threw them into the bin. Kinda changed the way I look at things now when I throw them away :)
Lavan Volkov I would say a lot of religions follow a similar principle in general. Basically that we are caretakers of the earth and we should treat it with dignity and respect. Shinto was mentioned as well

Just a suggestion. Maybe heat the stick tape up with a hairdryer before removing. Might help a little. Better than tearing up the sheetrock!

Me too! I also felt a little better about some of the damage I have accidentally caused if even Jun is not immune to these kind of mistakes. I hope it doesn't cost them very much.

There are sprays based on citrus oils that will dissolve adhesives without destroying your walls. I would highly recommend using those next time. They're safe and organic and smell like orange peels. :)
Good idea, but there’s another option. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the adhesive. When adhesives warm up, they will usually loosen up as well and peel away clean. This also works for stickers or any glue backed label.
There are many ways to dissolve glue. Most of them are based on alcohol. But if you can't get to the tape in the first place is is usually an issue.
But it's magnetic strip, heat will weaken the magnetic effects ...
It's like an important rule for magnet care, no heating or direct heat, no dropping it from x height and no sudden impact like hammering it and such ...

When I was about to move to Japan, I saw your videos about japanese apartment and when I came here, it was just as you showed. I was thrilled! Today I felt a little touched by this video, I'll have to say goodbye to my little beautiful japanese apartment and go back to Brazil next month. Moving is hard and leave Japan is heart-breaking. After seeing the kitchen naked, I can say that you guys do a FANTASTIC job at making things look aesthetically pleasing/using space efficiently. I'm somewhat new to you guys' videos, so I kind of assumed that that was how the kitchen was designed.
This video makes me really emotional because I lost my cat just three days ago. He was nine months old and he got hit by a car. He was the sweetest, cuddliest cat I've ever met and because of Jun I taught him to give me his paw before he got food. I'm going to miss him so much

My cat was 11 years old, died 3 months ago. My dad closed the garage door and didn't know him lying under the door. It's still a huge pain for me. I raised 4 generations of his family, he was the last. He was smart, well behaved. I taught him to wait for food until I pat his head, then he was allowed to eat. Never in my life, I have imagined that he could be death because of his own house. I feel sorry for your loss
Oh how tragic. 😢 I'm so sorry for your loss. ❤️ RIP little kitty. I wish they knew to stay away from the roads... My cat will be 15 on Valentines day. He is an outdoor cat but he has always had big respect for cars. Thankfully.

I had the same silent moment of "oh no!" as you when I saw you lifted the paint off! I would have also been overly excited to lift off that stubborn magnet and pull it off quickly! Hopefully the charge to repair that paint wasn't too expensive!
Yep. When you did all that pulling and it wasn't coming off, I knew you were going to take part of the wall with it. Maybe a hair dryer to loosen up the glue before the pizza cutter. next time
I was thinking heat gun, but yes, same idea. If you can find a chemical that will dissolve the glue without dissolving the wall, that would be even better. Perhaps 90% isopropyl alcohol.
@@redpillcommando - Not sure what chemical would work without ruining the paint job too. Though, oil is supposed to help loosen sticky stuff. What is that stuff called, Goo Be Gone or something. But all it is really oil. Any oil, olive, baby, etc works the same.
Goo Gone is the name of it, and its mainly citrus oils with some petrol, but rubbing alcohol or a heat gun (even a hair dryer on highest setting) works as well, since Goo Gone and such can deteriorate certain rubber materials.
