the best way to change your MOS is to wait until you're a year away from your reenlistment window, which is a year away from your ETS date. You will have to reenlist for more time in the military. If you have a three year contract then you're window is in two years. But if you signed a much longer contract, five or six years, you're going to have to wait four or five years. This is why you should try to sign as short of a contract (three years) as possible.
@@lawrencedilin2327 In some cases. The unit can just simply move you from a mortar squad to a light infantry squad and you can be put on a fire team without having to go back to fort benning for reclass. But it all depends on the chain of command. Some units will send you TDY back to benning to go through the 11B portion and reclass you to 11B on your ERB. It would be silly to do so. You already know how to patrol and do bounding over, traveling overwatch, react to contact. linear ambushes. setup a temporary fighting position. recognize TRPs and so forth.
Plus when going through the EIB test to get your badge, its the same badge for 11B or 11C. or if you deploy and get the CIB. and you still wear the blue infantry cord and blue disk.
A contract is a contract meaning once you sign it your basically committed when it comes to the Government. But when i was in close to the ETS ( end of service). Most inservice recruiters are desperate to( just like regular recruiters ) to keep an already trained experienced Soldier in the Army. So a good inservice recruiter who's job it is to get you to re-up will work with you if you want to change your MOS. My inservice recruiter recommended to me to try and raise my GT score by brushing up and take remedial math and etc. courses which is offered at the learning center during afternoons while on duty. Which i did then a month later i retook the exam to just to raise my GT score ( higher the score more job opportunities) It did raise my score but i re-uped with my same MOS anyways. Then again there is always Infantry which back then they were so desperate to fill the ranks they gave a big bonus
1st Cav man would that work the same way in army national guards? I just recently took my asvab and I wanted 68w but I wasn’t qualified. One of the mos I’m qualified for is 31b which I’m considering doing. By the end of my contract would I be able to be retake my line scores to see if I can qualify for 68w?
Do you have any idea what the minimum contract is for reenlistment? I'm interested in reclassing, but I'm NG, so I'm not trying to sign on for another six years lol.
Abby A. If you go to a recruiting station and have them assist you in a form called a 368 which is a release form that your chain of command signs for early release you can process while in the reserve to active duty. Any questions or assistance please let me know I’ll be glad to assist
Getting out, and trying to get back in is rough too, you have limited options to choose from and the recruiter can't hold it for you like they can for non prior service. So go to through meps to see what they will offer you is not ideal
Interesting. I'm an infanteer in the Canadian armed forces and our policy is pretty similar. I also want to change my MOS (called VOT (voluntary occupation transfer)) to a non combat role but I am going to have to wait around 2 years to change my MOS since I just completed infantry school. The reason they do this is because they don't want people to be constantly showing a lack of commitment to a trade since it's so expensive to retrain for a different trade.
Bout to graduate AIT 13B( cannon crewman). Also my battle buddy older brother is in the army. He said the infantry is very low of men. When he went to fort ben, for infantry school. Their were only 30 cadats that were eligible for the infantry.
My son-in-law was in the ASA starting in 1970. They sent him to three schools. He ended up being a 72B Communications Center Specialist. With other duties as required.

That MOS is always understaffed with fast promotion rates. The only issue is that if you hate being in that MOS, it's either you are stuck in it or get out of the Army entirely.
I want to enlist as an MP in the Army but I also want to reenlist after my contract as Infantry I feel like that would be the easiest transition since a 31B is essentially Infantry but with extra duties. The reason is I just want to do more than one job in the Army because 4 years of guard duty and patrolling as an MP sounds boring and switching MOS could make things more interesting. I'm not saying that its a goal its just if its possible at the time and the higher ups allow the transition then I would definitely take advantage of it.

No, you are pretty much locked in. I'm guessing you would have to be half-way thru your current contract before you can consider changing MOSs. The only other possibility is if the Army did away with your MOS, but that's a rare event.
I’d imagine that youd have to wait until full enlistment is up. They do have programs though i.e. “Green to Blue”. Probably not the same job though. Had a guy in my basic who was from the Air Force who did stuff with computers combat wise and came into the Army with a different job (Intelligence Analyst). So yeah.
If you know you want to join the army, and dont want to do anything else, then try to convince your family that its what you want to do and then just do it

When you reclass, do you go through AIT again?
You go to reclass school for that MOS. I’m currently going through a reclass school. I’m classing to 42A Human Resource Specialist.
@@PENS68 I’m now in the same process. How soon after you picked 42A did you get a AIT date
I need to know the actual steps. Like, who do I contact first, etc. Step-by-step. Who can help me with that? I'm not getting much help.
Cee
Your recruiter
Quick question, can you switch your MOS after your contract ends? Or is that impossible to get the job you want?
Yes you can. If you qualify for that job you can reclass as part of your reenlistment
Shipping Today Ft Sill thanks Matt for the content
Hi Matt. Im still in the process of security clearance so i cant pick MOS 25B. i picked 68W instead. I have 4 year BA degree. will it be possible to switch to 25B after my AIT? recruiters said yes but i dont know if they just wanted to get me in
Look at green to gold program. Go get a masters and do 2 year ROTC program and branch select
I’m NG, Is there a way I can switch my mos from 31B to 11B....I just finished osut training
Hey did you have any reclass guys in your osut
@@armyguy986No we didn’t have any anybody reclass everybody who was in OSUT signed as a MP. We had people who came from different MP company’s tho
Anyone shipping to Fort Sill September 24th?
My Retention NCO said I have to wait until the end of my contract to reclass? Is this true
no every body is fuking lying
Welcome to the army. They are lying and they are also holding all the cards.
Can you switch your MOS during basic training? If so, how?
No, you are pretty much locked in. I'm guessing you would have to be half-way thru your current contract before you can consider changing MOSs. The only other possibility is if the Army did away with your MOS, but that's a rare event.
Future 68u, does anyone about this mos?
Can you switch branches?... Same rank? Job?
I’d imagine that youd have to wait until full enlistment is up. They do have programs though i.e. “Green to Blue”. Probably not the same job though. Had a guy in my basic who was from the Air Force who did stuff with computers combat wise and came into the Army with a different job (Intelligence Analyst). So yeah.
What advice do you have for a person who's entire family is against them joining the military?
If you know you want to join the army, and dont want to do anything else, then try to convince your family that its what you want to do and then just do it
Me personally I say It Is your life and you are an adult at the point of joining or now idk. You have to decide what is best for you. That is all I can say from me. Good Luck!
I hope your in by now…it’s your life so what you want, not what others want.

Paralegals are understaffed pretty bad!
NEVER FEAR FOR THE NOTIFICATION SQAUD IS HEREEEE💯
Go 68w we always need medics
Does a pog have to start osut from the beginning or start at the ait portion
Technically yes, but you have more freedoms than the recruits
Oh well, back to my layouts
