    I'm so impressed with, not only your endeavors, but the life skills you are teaching your kids. How to use power tools, how to build, how to swing a hammer, etc are skills most people much kids their age, know.

    I want to thank you for the videos and the t-shirt that I bought. I got the one with the list of critters and Oh my! on it. I’m in Arizona now because my father was dying of cancer and the whole family came to be here with him and our mom. I wore the t-shirt one day and everyone got a giggle out of it, including my dad! You never know how important something you do or offer can be to others so I wanted to let you know. Thank you so much for your inspiration and imaginations!

    I’ve learned so much from watching your family build. You’ve inspired me. I’m planning on building an open sided garden/ party shed in my backyard only 8x8, I don’t have a family of six but I think I can do it with help from granddaughters and a few friends. The snow is finally all melted and the ground is firm enough to drive on. This will be a summer project since now is garden time and planning and clearing take presidents. bonjour la famille. another day at the Composite Closet. Hello Miss Photobomber Ada. • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn't explain it that much in the video, but the main rafter is a single unbroken 12' board with birdsmouth cuts on both ends that are load bearing. Then there's about 2' of overhang on the front that also has a birdsmouth and then runs down the other rafter a bit for structural integrity. The second board that's screwed to the long one isn't really load bearing, it just extends the front by 2’

    • @TinyShinyHome
      @TinyShinyHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re not split in the middle. The long one rests both on the front beam and the back beam. The shorter rafter piece extends 3’ past the front beam and sistered to the long rafter. We consult with builders and this is common. Two points of contact for the longer section of rafter. It will be just fine.

      @@TinyShinyHome Wow! I bet they were delicious! Our pigs were Berkshire and about 300 lbs on the hoof so a couple hundred pounds of meat each. We are only a family of 4! I think I still have a couple packs of pork chops. The bacon was gone a loooong time ago! Finished our hams two years ago.

      You said they're rated for sheer strength, for some reason I thought you said they had an R rating... I have no idea, we hosted Easter yesterday for about 30 of our family members and it was a long day, we must be delusional 😅

      You're right, they did say rated "R' screws. Usually "screws" are "R" rated! Loved the pun once you explained it! It sounds like you had a great Easter! The more the merrier! This was the first Easter it was down to just our little family of 4 but it was a great Easter! This time after our Easter egg hunt for the kids, our kids hid the eggs for us to find. It was fun! We played a board game for 5 hours! We ate a lot of food. So much fun so close to home!
