Should have thrown the budget SmB in there for giggles despite being a 6 bottle lineup. It holds it's own in this lineup from my experience. Great lineup however.
1792 feels so underrated but we love a lot of their lineup. The bottled-in-bond is the easy winner, all things considered. It’s rarely released in our market (once annually) but we always buy a few when we see it. Great blind, Jaime!
Nice blind. I haven't tried many of the 1792 in this blind yet. I would like to have seen the small batch included. The Bourbon Junkies did a similar blind with 1792 Small Batch a year ago, and the small batch won. They didn't include the 12 year or wheat. Enjoy both of your channels. Cheers.
love the 1792 lineup, just a little puzzled by your order, I don't think I would start someone off with Full proof, I like to build up to a higher proof, but thats just me. Glad to see you guys enjoying this bourbon adventure together. I wish my wife would try it...Keep up.the quality videos.
David was trying to trick me. He felt making me believe the first one was strong bc it was the first pour oppose to lining it up last where it may stick out from the rest as being high proof. Not sure it would have made the difference, I can handle higher proof but don’t love how hard it makes to sip them. Thank you so much for your kind words. Does your wife drink cocktails? Bourbon cocktails are a for sure easy way to help her find something she likes. We created Vanilla Bourbon(go to my last cocktail Friday). It is amazing and easy sipping. Cheers Mathew🥃
Bottled in bond is better than small batch, though i love the small batch too 1792 does not make a bad bottle of any offering i have never had a bottle i regretted getting
most of the special offerings you have to ask for as they don't tend to keep them on the shelves Bottled in bond is well worth asking for ,depending on the store you can special order as well 1792 was known as Ridgemont reserve 1792 until they got sued and changed the name to just 1792 back then it was just as good though not yet trendy i would order it by the half gallon and pay about 40 dollars a bottle after it won awards and got more name recognition the price went up a 750 ml bottle is about 40.00 now still a good price point
I thought the BiB was my favorite until I tried the lineup blind and was surprised by the SiB. So good. I wish the SiBs had more info on them (dates, barrel numbers, etc.) Cheers 🍻
I tried the Small Batch first a while back, and was very underwhelmed. I then disregarded the line. Then I got a Full Proof store pick and was blown away. Full Proof is now on permanent rotation in my bar. So I decided to check on some more, and I was similarly blown away by the 12 year (once I found it at retail - the first few places I saw it was over $100). The 12 year at $55 is a no-brainer, so I bought several. Also picked up a Sweet Wheat, which I agree is solid, but nothing special. I have not tried the BiB. Still don't like the small batch though. There are a lot of other $20-$25 bottles I would rather have (WT101, Elijah Craig, OF Sig, etc). I may have to pick up some BiB while running errands today.
Picked up a Specs store pick single barrel 1792 FP for $36 earlier this month. Fantastic bottle. Their BiB and regular small batch is great as well. I could drink 1792 offerings everyday. I bet in a year or 2 their line will be on the radar of more people and the BiB and FP will be harder to find, especially the store picks and SB store picks.
You are SO right about letting it open up. My first bottle was the small batch and I honestly thought it was tainted it was horrific. I was going to bring it back but held it for a month. Incredibly harsh taste. After time it totally changed. I agree that the small batch is the least favorite of mine. Ya live and learn. Great job Jamie
I'm in Europe so we don't get a massive selection of bourbons (I'm mainly a Scotch drinker anyway) but I'm absolutely loving the FP I bought when I was in the US last month. And for around 40 bucks? Come on, hard to beat.
I love 1792 single barrel. I get the cinnamon, but it really comes across like Kraft caramels to me. It beat many other more expensive bourbons in our recent double blind. The next week I was on the hunt until I found a bottle for 40$. We'll worth it imo.
Saw 1792 FP this weekend in southern Illinois, but passed as it was $140. They had the same price on Blanton’s and Weller 10 year which I consider $60 bourbons in the past. Some are even higher now.
I did this awhile back in my channel didn’t have the sib or the sweet wheat but I had 12yr, FP and then BIB for me. I liked the extra age of the 12yr and the FP was a store pick
I am kinda a broken record on this, but when the Kirklands first came out, we blinded the Small Batch against the 1792 SB and found the Kirkland just a little inferior to the 1792. I didn't have a 1792 BIB but the Kirkland BIB was VERY similar to Old Barton 100. I wonder if maybe the 1792 BIB is much better, so I will have to keep my eyes (and wallet) open for it. The Kirkland SiB--at least at my Costco--was killer. I didn't blind it against my 1792 SiB because the latter was so much lower proof but I may just have to do it. We blinded the Kirkland SiB against Smokewagon UCUF and an Old Ezra Distiller's Collection store pick and the Kirkland came out on top for me 2 separate times and my buddy put it a very close second against Smokewagon. I would be really curious to hear others' experiences blinding the Kirkland against the 1792.
I buy a BiB and FP store pick every year. The standard BiB is too banana runt for me, but SPs are good. Have my first SiB recently and it is a very nice easy drinker.
Being a big fan of 1792 single barrel. And my over all favorite as of right now being the Weller 12yr. I'm really interested in how I'll like the 1792 12yr.
@@Beyondwhiskeyrow you're absolutely welcome. If you get the chance or the opportunity. Look into Loan star 1835 bourbon. It's my Daily and I believe it's a sleeper. I'd love to get you n your husband's input. Thanks
I love the 1792 full proof total wine store picks it drinks easier than the BIB to me. I try to sip neat the BIB but it always feel a slight bit stronger to me for some reason and I end up always mixing it into an old fashioned or some other bourbon cocktail
@@Beyondwhiskeyrow yes I usually open get a taste then I store in the closet for about a month before revisiting. Then drink my already open bottles that’s my routine. The only 2 bottles I went all in after opening was rare breed and WT 101 rye; I had to force myself to stop drinking that one. I finished about 3/4 of the bottle July 4th weekend.
The BiB I had just wasn’t for me. Drinks hot, very little sweetness, and a bitter aftertaste. Now OTOH I just got a L24 SiB for $35 and it hits all the marks and drinks well below its proof. So good!
It's a shame because the 1792 Small Batch is the only one easily available in the UK market, unless you luck out and find others at auction or one or two shops might have the single barrel.

I've only tried 1792 small batch out of these, I think Elijah Craig small batch is wayyyyy better than the 1792, but palettes are different for sure. My next hunt is that 12 year 1792
Ok.. most of those are hard to find.. the only one in VA I have seen is the small batch which is ok.. nothing special .. they recently won some awards because the sent specail barrel picks to these competitions. Way OVER HYPED.
