Howdy A8 Ep. 15 - How to fix the 'flat battery + key stuck in the ignition' issue on the Audi A8 D3

- The other day we discovered that the battery was flat (dashcam drained it), so had to use the key to open the door and put the key in the ignition to see if there was power. No power, so time to pop the trunk and connect the battery charger.
Simple... nope.
The trunk release won't work because there's no power so you decide to use the key to open the trunk, but it won't come out.
You need to get into the boot to charge the battery, but you can't use the key, the trunk release button won't work, and you can't press the buttons on the remote. What do you do?

Thank you! 2007 Audi S8. The little thing by the ignition didn't have the pin hole. It was like it was gone and I tried everything. I ended up using this method through the trunk. Life saver.
Thanks my friend. I left the lights on my 05 A8 while on vacation . Fixed it fast. Saved me. Trunk key lock was also froze up.

you could have pressed the small button on one side of the ignition circle. depress it while turning the key counterclockwise until you hear a click and the key should release. Then use your key to open the trunk instead of your Audi-approved OEM trunk release tool.
Hey Samer, thanks for the tip :) We did try that, but couldn't get it to work for some reason, so we had to MacGuyver it :)

@@williamthibault5545 it can be tricky but you need to pressharder on the indent right at the very center with a pointy tool. (I was even able to depress the button with a hard toothpick) Press and hold while turning counterclockwise. It will work. It is mechanical, not an electrical mechanism.

Access the battery charge jump point located on the passenger side, right side kick panel. This is where you can jump your car from.
20 years old technology of D3 overgrown you guys. In post above it's the answer for that situation.

Open bonnet theres 2 jump pins jump from nother battery or connect a charger to them gives enough current to pop electric boot lock,some audis like my A6 have aa key lock on boot just have to bend down to find it

My 06 A8L. My battery died with my truck open while I was using obdeleven to gain access to the green menu and restore my air suspension menu. I'm in the process of changing my water pump and timing belt so I can't start my car. I forgot to put it on the battery maintainer. The key is stuck, the word SAFE was on the trip odometer then the center heads up display turned all read, flashed a key with a slash through it and everything was dead. The battery in the key fob was dead as well. Recharged the battery and replaced the key fob battery. The button beside the key for the release is broken out and doesn't work. When I attached the battery the lights on the dash flash quickly and then they're gone. Turning the key does nothing. I can see the mileage and the MMI is still on and active. The e-brake seems to be working as well as the leveling button on the driver door. The car is in jack stands as well. The steering wheel doesn't lock either. Turning the key either way does nothing. Any suggestions
Лично в моей а8 д3 не открыть с салона багажник как в вашем видео. Это только в Америке багажник открывается с салона в целях безопасности. Да и зачем делать так. Если можно дать питание в прикуриватель или в плафон номерного знака и открыть багажник. Хотя вы наверное об этом говорили. Но я не знаю английского на должном уровне, так что сорри
My vehicle was running perfect and I purchased a new battery due to the winter season. Once I swapped batteries now my 2005 Audi A8L. Won’t start. Unfortunately I did the same thing for my 1998 and neither will crank after changing batteries. Smh

In the trunk/boot there is a handle that glows in the dark
You could open the hood put another battery there jump start it and then open the boot
The battery is in the boot, so where in the engine bay would you connect the other battery? Who has another battery lying around anyway
@@heymadam you have another car with which you can emergently jump start a dead battery if it was drained by turned on lights you have a positive cable connection directly under the hood

Bro you have 2 keys and you can also open the trunk with the key ‘ next time when you see that the battery is empty for example the keyless opening didn’t work then open at first the trunk 😂
It's an 18 year old car, man. Not everyone is lucky enough to still have all the keys
man, there is a key lock in the trunk that you can use to unlock it LOL
And when the key is stuck in the ignition???? That's the whole point of the video.
