    I’ve was a pastor for years with several ministries under my care. It only took one small group of back biters to circulate lies and criticisms to bring it all down. It came down to one man who wanted a position on the board and I was warned by the pastor who went before me not to give it to him. He volunteered a lot, showed support but it was always with strings attached. When it all went bad me and my family were almost totally abandoned by people I served for years. The stress was insane. I went to a few pastors conferences to find that this story plays out regularly in churches.

    Facts.. most of the people I used to call “friends” were people was we’re low key competing with me and once I “fell off” they kicked me while I was down and I never heard from them again lol. Took them like ten years to finally start doing better than me. It’s sad man I have these friends Jobs,money, places to sleep for months at a time, food, weed. When I needed something all I got was excuses and people kicking me while I’m down. I learned a life lesson though and I’m never helping another person again unless they’re my mom or dad. Even my own brother didn’t lift a finger to help me while I was struggling bad! It’s like he was happy to see me down. My mom told me he’s been jealous of me my whole life so I guess he’s happy to see me down lol. The thing is I’m not staying down forever so when I’m back up again, I’m going to make him extremely jealous. I’ll make sure to throw everything in his face too.

    • @prestonpreston8082
      @prestonpreston8082 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A real friend / family member is someone who is genuinely happy for your success. There is a lot of jealousy, resentment in a lot of people. When I deal with people like that, I try to minimize my involvement with them and ignore them as much as possible. If they try to screw with me at the office, if they make a mistake, I will take them down. If I have people like that in my personal life, if I can, I will eliminate them completely or as much as possible. I tell young people do not expect other people to be happy with your success. If possible, if you achieve something, keep it to yourself. As for your statement, "...I’m never helping another person again unless they’re my mom or dad," I would not follow that path. Jesus of Nazareth said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." We are also commanded in Scripture, to, "Love your neighbor." Billy Graham said, "The greatest Christian grace is love. Not that sentimental feeling often called love today, but that deep regard for the welfare of others which will prompt us to help them when they need help." In Luke 6:27 “But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." You can get a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction and a feeling of achievement by having a positive impact in someone else's life. There is a good book that may be of assistance to you, "Looking out for Number One" by Robert J Ringer. You can get the book on Amazon cheaply. I hope you do get back up again. I believe productive behavior is the key - work, studying, a good exercise program, enjoying yourself with a good television show, etc., and avoiding self-destructive behavior like substance abuse, wasteful spending habits, consumer over consumption or being jealous of other people like your brother. I would really recommend you read a chapter a day from the Bible, specifically the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John + the book of the Acts of the Apostles. I would urge you to consider the Christian faith. (Please note I have been royally screwed by some of my fellow Christians. Again, you have to be very careful as Michael Franzese says above.) Good luck and please do get back up!

    The storm eventually calmed, but the Genovese Family wasn’t happy with the Castellano hit initially. They were pissed that the murder of a boss wasn’t approved by The Commission. They tried to take out Gotti and ended up killing his friend on a hit that was meant for Gotti.

    I think the concept of goodwill is very important in life. You try to empathize with others, help if you can, stay out of their way. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you or get too close to you. Dealing with people is a fine line to walk. Know when to keep your mouth shut, keep your opinions and emotions close to the vest. I think the most underrated thing about the movie Goodfellas was that in Ray Liottas narration of Henry Hill, the movie showed how Henry always thought on his feet, he was disciplined in what he said and did especially around Jimmy, Tommy, and Paulie.. Henry was the quietest of the group, he played the background, he was always observing everything going on around him.. The guys who were less aware, not as disciplined in their words or actions were all killed and they never saw it coming, none of them. They underestimated the danger they were in, I don’t think Henry ever did

  • @bushwhakked
    @bushwhakked 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I can't remember the book, but it was about the agents that put the mic in Castellano's lamp. Anyway. And I'm paraphrasing, but the book pretty much said the same thing and referenced the grumbling on the street about Paul's greed, and that he was a recluse, and Tommy was pretty unpopular as well. But he controlled most of the businesses and took in something like 25% to 50% of their revenue. He could shut down that city if he wanted too. Even if Gotti didn't kill him, he was done anyway. The FBI had loads of tape on him from that lamp.

He looked awesome and there were many Gambino people in our neighborhoods. In my opinion, RICO Laws made American suburbs more unsafe. The Mafia is a necessary Evil. The Police are constrained by the US Constitution. The Mafia will keep the neighborhood safe just by their presence. Fear is a powerful motivator.
