You can't help someone who doesn't want help.
She finally asked for help.
Sometimes there doesn’t need to be a “twist” like when someone is dead. The point isn’t finding out that the character is gone it’s finding out why it’s so unfortunate that they’re gone. Many people pass away that you’ll never know but when someone close to you goes it leaves such a void.

Totally agreee! The emotional Impact of Bellemeres death isn’t spoiled because we saw her grave… a lot of anime use death as a shock or a twist but Bellemere’s, Nojiko’s and nami’s story is told beautifully without there being some big shock factor.
Exactly. We don't get spoiled of zeff has a peg leg before we know he sacrificed his leg for sanji in the flashback. Flashback adds more depth to the story, especially before we hit the climax of the story.😅

Theres a thing you need to understand about the the straw hats, especially Luffy: they are not heroes, at least not in the classic western way we are used to. Luffy was there, in that island for Nami, for no one else, and he alredy make his mind of what Nami means for him and his crew. The reason he ignore any idea of knowing her past, is because he doesnt really care about that, he care that he has seen the good of her that not even Nami can admit to have, the only thing that he is waiting is for her to realize that and, like she end up doing, asking for help. A normal hero in anime or other media would have come and force his way to save her physically, but luffy being the incredible people reader that he is he understand that traying to save a person that doesnt trust others or think that she have to shoulder the weigth of the world only herself will just make her put those barrier even higher, so he wait for her to ask.
And finally, about the other straw hats, again they are pirates, a crew not even more that a few weeks created, they dont have any obligation with this town, Arlong hasnt done anything personal to them as a group, if it wasnt for Nami i can assure you Usopp and Zoro, before the backstory, would have gone away of the island with out remorse (Sanji doesnt count, he will stay because he actually belive himself a classical prince saving a damsel in distrees), but is a combination of context and their captain guidance towar an enemy, that give them a push to "save" the village, although like i say thats more of a fortunate consequence for helping their new crew member, and yes i say new because Nami start being oficially a Straw hat when she finally ask for helpse too

The strawhats have no business with arlong, until Nami says to help her. I don’t think she understands that bc the way they work is they won’t help someone fighting, even if it’s namis situation unless they ask for help. It’s always been like that
@@upskill9024 actually its all base on luffy, if luffy say fight then strawhat will fight. They only wait luffy order. There are many times luffy help people even if they dont ask for help. For example when luffy save dog chu and.when luffy fight don krieg.
She doesn't understand luffy is the captain and tells them when they are going to act and ue wasn't going to act until Nami finally needed their help.
Nami wasn't too proud to ask for help. She really liked the crew and honestly thought of them as her real friends so she just didn't want to drag them into her problems. But in the end she didn't have any other choice, she was backed into a corner. Luffy didn't need to know who Arlong was, or what he did to the village and it's people. He doesn't need any other reason except for the fact that someone hurt his Friend, his Navigator and they're gonna pay for it. That is the only reason he needs to fight! Hook , line and sinker!!
Pride does indeed play a role, albeit small. Belle-mere raised them to be strong and independent women, so there's that. But the main issue was that she ingrained into her mind that asking for help means people will get hurt, and she didn't want to put anyone at risk, nor the people from the village, nor Luffy and his gang, who she grew to like a lot. It's not until she feels hopeless that she finally takes a step into the abyss and asks for help. It's also something she needed to overcome, even if she didn't realize at the time.
@@Chandhoule I disagree. I don't think pride had to do with it. I do agree with your point about how it was ingrained in her since she was a child and the trauma she experienced made her to not want to involve people she care about and might end up hurting them. It wasn't out of pride that she decided to join Arlong but she saw them sinking Navy ships that were sent to help and realising that there was no hope for help from outside and she had to stay strong and fight her own fight without burdening the other villagers. She feared for the lives of her fellow villagers.

Your POV is different from the show's POV 😂 and them not taking action is the request of Nami and Nojiko 😅 Unless when Nami herself ask for help. They will not move a hair because they respect Nam'si decision.

The walk to arlong park could be drawn by a blind person and it would still be better than the muzan walk
luffy dont like meddling other people business unless he want to. But if someone ask for his help, he will do anything to help them. Thats just how luffy is and same goes for his crew, they only do it if luffy order it since luffy is the captain.
Some people don t want to be helped. How many time people who were rescued trying to jump from a bridge were find dead because they wanted to die anyway...

Nami was so used to pushing everyone away over all these years. She took everything upon herself to keep everyone else safe. It wasn't until she specifically asked for help that the squad stepped in. The truth is they didn't even need to know her backstory. All she had to do was ask.

I'm from Argentina, Latin America, I see their reactions, this reaction caught my attention because we are literally millions of One Piece fans in Latin America, It's a masterpiece, but another masterpiece is seeing them react, I love their reactions.
The reason Luffy doesn't act is very similar to the reason that Nojiko stops them from acting. Nami has taken this burden on herself and worked so incredibly hard to get where she is today. They are outsiders and do not have the right to judge or interfere in what is essentially a private affair. Inserting yourself unasked into a situation is rarely appreciated, especially when it involves someones most treasured thing or people. Them, a bunch of pirates who will eventually leave again, can only muck things up by meddling without being asked.
For Luffy though, the reason is even more simple. Nami is his friend. Friends trust each other and are able to ask each other for help. It is one thing to save your friend when they are in trouble, but it is something entirely different to solve their problems for them in your way without them agreeing. Whether Nami was a slave or got abused for many years does not change how he sees her. To him, she is NOT a victim who needs saving, but a FRIEND. And while he will come to understand her suffering, for Luffy that sort of understanding does not come from stories told by others. It is a story that Nami should tell IF she wants to in whatever way (actions or explanations) she decides. But if she doesn't? That is totally fine with him. She'll share when she wants to do so. Knowing her past is not a prerequisite for them being friends.
Dont forget one thing thats straw hats are pirates they are not heroes who saves everyone. Straw hats know everything about nami eccept luffy. Luffy is their captain. They dont move a finger without luffy's order. Thats their loyalty towards their captain.
my favorite part about the straw hat exchange, is , it's a half step deeper than trusting her with his treasure.
She is his 'nakama' -friend. And those are equal to his treasures. so him anointing that to her, not only signified he was prepared to fight, but also showed that SHE is his treasure followed directly by: " OF COURSE I WILL"
The episode where mostly everyone considered as the point of no return or where everyone get hooked in OP. Some character development for the reactors too LOL. Luffy just doesn't care about the past that is why he doesn't want to hear it too. Whatever's Nami's past is it is not important to him, what's important is the present which is they are now friends and friends help each other.

Here’s the thing about the Nami stabbing her arm scene. Once you go back after you eventually catch up to the current episodes or just decide to randomly revisit that episode. It will hurt like a thousand bricks because of how invested you become of Nami and the rest of the crew.
