  • Which gun do I prefer for concealed carry, the Glock 19 or the CZ 75D Compact PCR?
    ➡️ For me there are a number of points to consider and it is definitely a subjective opinion, but I think you can take a lot of facts from it and apply them to your own. This is not a review about which gun is better!
    While the Glock is the most common pistol in America the CZ might be better if you are just starting off.
    A detailed comparison of these two guns, specifically for CCW.

    But mainly, thanks for getting right to it and listing the differences and moving on!

    I started with a PCR as my very first gun, moved to Glocks for a while and have now come back into CZ’s.
    Glocks are great guns. They are super utilitarian, incredibly simple and I can have every single spring and part taken out of a Glock in about a minute and a half, conservatively. CZ’s, especially the decockers, take significantly more time, work and attention to fully take apart and put back together. There are more parts that could potentially break and the parts aren’t quite as easy to get as Glock parts are.
    Basically, if we’re talking about a pure duty use handgun, something which needs to be so simple that even a grunt can fix it, it’s really hard to beat a Glock. However, if we’re talking about guns which come with a little more pride of ownership, that take a little more know-how and care to work on and can even be considered heirloom guns that’ll stay in the family for many years, CZ’s really are great. In my experience, they have been every bit as reliable as any of my Glocks but they just offer a little something more to me and my shooting experience. It’s a little hard to quantify - I just get more out of shooting CZ’s.
    All handguns are tools but not all handguns are *just* tools. A Glock to me is a really great tool but its still *just* a tool.

    The CZ is my EDC. Replaced the guide rod with stainless, the firing pin (CGW extended firing pin), the pin block spring (lightened it up) and the firing pin retaining pin (DO NOT get the solid pin replacement, get the rolled pin). It’s a real gun, not a ballistic tic tac box...and even as a compact, it’s the most accurate (for me) gun I own (two Beretta’s, a Colt 1911 and two S&W). Only drawback for me - and it’s based on an actual advantage overall - is the low sight radius (because of the internal rail system). Makes the gun more level and balanced, and accurate, but also lowers the profile of the slide so lobster claw is better than over the top if your hand gets sweaty. I have a Vedder holster for tac classes and an Urban Carry lockleather for my day to day EDC. The gun is a dream. The Glock is a lot easier to find, but in my mind there’s just no comparison. If I crave the Glock experience, I’ve always got my nephew’s NERF gun to play with.

    I don't mind the extra weight of the PCR. Target re-aquisition is extremely important. The extra weight isn't objectionable at all. And the CZ is much better looking. :-)

    • @b0men
      @b0men  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually find the pcr's extra weight doesn't help a ton in recoil or target re-acquisition speed. The funky glock grip angle allows me to get my hand up much higher on the gun which eats recoil pretty well, so I've found it shoots a little flatter despite being lighter. Really a marginal difference though.

    • @ColonelCarnage
      @ColonelCarnage ปีที่แล้ว

      The Glock 19 is my oldest gun and I’ve never had any issues with recoil. Especially given I first shot a Glock 43. Only gun I own that preforms noticeably better with recoil is the Shadow 2. I bet the regular 75 compact would be a nice shooter through with its steel frame.

  • @RichardWright142
    @RichardWright142 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Nice review, but the PCR is what I decided to carry. It just feels better in my hands and I shoot it better than the Glock. I even tried the 43 but wanted more capacity. No disrespect to Glock, they are fine guns, just that the PCR does it for me. I shot several pistols before I decided on my EDCC and PCR won it for me.

    • @b0men
      @b0men  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, even with the aluminum frame there's still more metal parts on the CZ that are prone to rust. Grip screws, for example, can rust pretty easily. And some internals if you carry somewhere really humid. Its not the end of the world but I've found that I can sweat all over the glock and I just haven't had any rust at all. Great question man! Here is the routine that changed the game for me:
      PRE REQ: watch this video first. Dry fire is useless without this concept: th-cam.com/video/li0rGtXh23I/w-d-xo.html
      Once you've got this concept down...
      1. Buy Steve Anderson's "Refinement and Repetition" book. This is a book of drills with explanations on how to get the most out of every drill.
      2. Get a shot timer. Dry firing without one is half as valuable. You want to be able to track par times, etc.
      3. Buy or make some scaled down dry fire targets, to use for the drills. You can either cut your own out of cardboard or order some from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop. You want scaled down USPSA targets.
      good luck man!

    Do you carry without a mag inside the Glock? Becasue they are the exact same length once you put the mags in. The CZ mag sits flush and the glock mag sticks out negating that difference completely. As far as me the PCR conceals better because of the smaller slide and rounded grip. Where as the Glock grip looks like I have a 2x4 under my shirt. Also the PCR is an aluminum alloy frame that has a finish on it. You really don't have to worry about it rusting. The only rust I have on mine is the grip screw that comes in contact with my body in humid ass Florida.

    • @b0men
      @b0men  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For one thing, everybody's body and mode of carry is not going to be the same. I'm talking explicitly about AIWB carry. Your experience will be different if you carry some other way, or are shaped differently.
      My Glock disappears on me in the appendix position. My CZ does not. It's also not about length it's about angle. If you stack them on top of each other, the CZ grip absolutely protrudes more because it has a traditional grip angle (curved, as you said). Whereas the Glock grip has the "Glocky" grip angle which conceals a little bit better in my experience. I carried the PCR for about 2-3 years and still own/love it. The 19 absolutely carries better for ME, however.

    There's one factor you've apparently not considered, probably because you're so experienced. As a newbie, I want to have the same kind of action on my guns so that practice on one doesn't undermine carrying another. I have 2 guns, both CZs, both decocker models. If I am in a dangerous situation I want my actions to be programmed. That means, clearly, no mix of safety and decocker. But it also means that the triggers should be similar. So, DA/SA, not a mix of DA/SA and striker.
    I remind myself regularly how bad I am overall, even though my aim and control are much better than they should be given my inexperience. Every time out I make some mortifying error. I want to keep things as consistent as possible.

    • @b0men
      @b0men  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I 100% agree with consistency of platform for a new shooter (or any shooter really who wants to get better versus just collect guns). In this video I am not advocating both, but rather I am comparing the two. All of dry fire is with Glocks currently. As well as all of my competitions. That being said. I’ve dry fired enough with DA/SA that if I were to run my Shadow in a match I’d be fine, provided I get some dry reps in prior (every now and then I do this because the Shadow is just so much fun). Whether one goes for DA/SA or Striker, dry firing regularly is the key to success. "It’s the Indian, not the arrow." That sort of thing.

    Imo..the cz's are so much slimmer in the slide. They slide into a waistband much easier..the glocks are lighter, but the slide is a giant squared off block, and is much thicker to try to slide into a waistband

    • @b0men
      @b0men  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although the CZ slide is slimmer, they are still larger in a KYDEX holster than a Glock. This is because the slide release control protrudes a lot from both sides, which requires additional clearance in a holster. The Glock is still slimmer when carrying in a kydex holster (not hybrid/leather etc) than the CZ, because of this. The controls are flat.
      The Glock grip angle is also much better for AIWB carry because it angles up towards you as opposed to out to your side.
      This comes from a very long time carrying both in the exact same way.

      @@b0men thanks for reply. I have also owned and carried both (full size cz75) and for me, the volume/size of the slide is so much smaller than the giant rectangular block of the glock slide, it effortlessly slid into the waistband much easier than the glock 19 (or the 26). The controls def poked out more like you said tho, while the glocks are smooth on the sides. The glocks are also vastly lighter, which helps. But to me in terms of overall comfort, the glock's thick, blocky slide makes it worse than the more natural, slimmer shape of the cz

      On a side note: I really liked the video, but you dwelled on ADs a lot. The best thing to do when re-holstering, is to simply remove the holster, follow the cardinal safety rules, re-holster, then put the unit (holster and gun) back into/onto your pants. I really like that Glock gadget though and appreciate you mentioning it! As far as your question, I don't have any issues with holsters jabbing me in the groin because I only carry in very long holsters. I carry my glock in a g34 length holster. It clears my pelvic bone, is more comfortable when sitting, and acts as a rudder to tuck the gun in, offering better concealment.

    The aluminum frame of the PCR doesn’t rust either so I’m not sure why frame goes to the Glock because of “rusting”. I think the frame of the PCR is miles superior to the Glock. I mean you have the under cut filed out of the grip as well as filed out a 2nd finger groove in the trigger guard. You also have grip tape on it. How can you say the frame is better when you’ve obviously had to take a file and sanding to it to make it fit your hands better and be more grippy? if you shoot the pcr enough (which you haven't) you would learn that the chamber indicator gets stuck over time and is no longer reliable. That's why I don't even mention it here. It's not worth using.
      But for you this would not be an issue, because your gun rarely gets shot.

    Is the frame width/ slide width on the PCR the same as an SP01? Haven't been able to find a PCR locally to measure, but I could compare to my wife's SP01. Thanks

      @b0men  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      about the same but the SP01 obviously weighs more. both double stack. SP01 mags work in a PCR, for reference.

    I got the CZ75 compact I’m not impressed I’ve twice to have the slide not going all the way forward and it hard to eject the round . Plus it’s hard to rack because the slide is so thin . I trust my Glocks much more never had a failure and I have 4 Glocks

    The point of people telling you to take their word for a weapon being unloaded is that you shouldn’t take their word for it and should STILL check it. Discipline. Show them empty. No exceptions.

      Nah on youtube its just annoying. Would you want everyone in the movies to stop, look at the camera, and show you that their gun is a prop?

    I sold my Glock 19 gen 4 so I could buy my CZ PCR, I also own a CZ SP-01 and I am getting ready to purchase a CZ P-07. I sold my soul and belong to the CZ cult.

    Which do you feel is most ergonomic for smaller hands?

    • @b0men
      @b0men  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CZ is more ergonomic but I get a better grip with the glock, and I have small hands.
      Ergos does not always equal optimal grip.
