Tasting this for the first time as we speak. Good tip about smelling for over a minute before it opens up on the nose. This whisky made my mouth bone dry instantly, but I do love the strong peat smoke and taste to it. Thanks!
Hello guys from Dublin Ireland , discovered ye yesterday loved the Brexit banter . I bought Uigeadail two weeks ago it’s fantastic, corryvreckan is next!
You have the best whisky reviews anywhere, but one of things I love about your reviews is that you truly just never know what is coming up next: The story about George Orwell was priceless. And smelling the glass in the morning is a great suggestion.
I had a glass of Corryvreckan at the Whisky Bar last week and I didn't add any water to it. It drank very pleasantly. It was hot but I wouldn't have guessed it was almost 60% ABV.
I have unopened both the Uigeadail and Corryvreckan along with a 10 years old on the shelf waiting to be compared and enjoyed. Should be interesting. Just waiting for the opportunity with a friend who similarly enjoys a fine malt. Slainte! I spend altogether too much time enjoying your reviews.
Seems I'm super late to the sip but I'm picking up this dram Thursday after work all the way here in Cave Springs Arkansas. 😂 I love watching y'all drink whiskey together. Cheers 🍻
Ireland (the island) is one of the British Isles. Great Britain is another. These are geographical terms. The island of Great Britain is the biggest British Island and contains 3 countries (England, Wales, Scotland) all part of the sovereign state known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (a.k.a. the UK). The island of Ireland contains 2 countries (Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland). Northern Ireland is part of the UK, and the Republic of Ireland is a separate sovereign state. There are many smaller British Islands, such as Islay. Obviously, since Great Britain is a geographical term that describes the biggest island, Islay is not part of Great Britain. It is quite simple really.
Same here. But I am gonna need to be in the mood to REALLY GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE by hardcore peat smoke in a super high ABV% potent single malt.... Eventually I'll traverse this one and then savor the bottle by letting it oxidize over a good year or longer whilst I chisel away at it as a flavor bomb and contributor to my personal single malt blend infinity bottle.......
This is one of the best videos you have made! The videos are much more entertaining when you both host them. :) Those who say that germans don't have humor, has no humour are wrong!
This is one whisky that I've tried with a drop of water, and made it much less desirable. This is one of my favorite whiskys and I'm sad you added water BEFORE trying it from the bottle! None the less, vids are still great.
Dont knock it til you try out, brings out so many more flavors. Also if you were to try two glasses, one with no water and one with a few drops of water, the first sip of the one with water will be so much more intense than the one with no water.
If you translate lord of the isles into the gaelic translation it basically still meant king of the isles so although he did lose his status within scotland was still seen as a king by the islanders.
I honestly dont know - never had an issue for years, and really enjoyed the product. I've had even had several bottles from the same batch (L6632 28/09/2016 16010657 0730) - last 2 gave me screaming headaches and even a sore neck (I drink only 1 to 2 drams, 4-5 times a week). Bottles were obtained from several stores as part of a local distribution chain. I still have a bad bottle that I use for "cooking scotch", cause its just not suitable for drinking. There's no serial number to identify the bottle, so I cant really tell at what point it went south. Just the same, at $70 US, I have all the "cooking scotch" I need for a while. Maybe I'll try again in a few years? It tastes fantastic, so its just a shame really.
@@alexk3088 Nosir, not in a modest quantity like that. Same with bourbon - no issues with only 2 drams. What's really strange is that neck pain that coincides - on such a trivial amount. As I think about it, I had the same experience with glenmorangie 10, but to a lesser extent. I have purchased at least a dozen other bottles over the years (Bacalta, Astar, Ruban..) which have an NA or 10 year age statement - perhaps comparable cask time/wood exposure as corryvreckan. Ardbeg and Glenmorangie are sister distilleries... I would love to know how the identify batch, and whether others have had this problem. I have thought about the cork being a source of the problem - perhaps reaction with, or leaching of binding agents. Where I buy my spirits, I see a lot of "tire kickers" who read the labels and put the bottle down. I've learned to grab a bottle from the back of the shelf, as I have had some off tasting bottles in the past ('farclas , and signatory bottled edradour), where the cork left a reside on the mouth of the bottle from a year or 2 of "tire kicking". Really, I have no idea though... Heaven help me if I got a condition where I could not enjoy my scotch.
I googled Ireland’s place in the British isles. It seems to be out of favor now since British is synonymous with UK and the Irish don’t really like that. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles_naming_dispute
Great Britain is an Island. Ireland is an Island. Islay is an Island. All these Islands make up the British Isles along with islands like the Outer Hebrides and the Shetlands etc. All terms like The Republic of Ireland, Scotland, England, the United Kingdom etc are political terms about states, not geographic.
Hello Ben and Horst! I know you rarely answer ???s here but can you (or one of the viewers) tell me what glasses you are useing and where I can buy them??????????????????????????????...........................................Cheers!
Corryvreckan - my favorite! There are probably better whiskys, more obviously complex, certainly smoother, easier on the palate, but this is the one I like best -- among the affordable ones I ever tasted. I describe it as "a whisky for men, real men". You won't like it if you're weak. Sorry, dear ladies, I'm too old to be woke. 😄
Hello Ben and horst Why don't you give a rating 🤔 on the whiskey you sample, it's of no use to me as a buyer if I don't have a bottle of what you are drinking, please start doing a rating of what you have to sample, I will stop watching your reviews if you can't give a rating on what you are enjoying or not enjoying, devoted fan, of last year 2019 and beyond !!!

I'll be in Dublin in two weeks time. Where can I buy fair priced whisky in Dublin? Thanks
You can go to the Celtic whiskey shop it’s great

It's really damn good. You'll get a lot of bite from the European oak that isn't there on the 10.
The Uigeadail is currently my favorite, and I also managed to get a bottle of the Drum committee release. Both are fantastic.

Couldn’t agree more. I usually add a little to most drams but Ardbeg really knows what they’re doing with this expression! 57% is perfect for this one
Glamping haha, loving the style with Ben and Horst together.
Iugedail, the perfect combination between peat and sweetness. My favorite peated....Corry is VERY good, but for my taste, Iudegail!
The beard is looking good, Ben. Keep up the good work.
Horst doesn't cringe over this peat like he did the octomore.... such a funny thing to see him flinch by the peat
Im new to whiskey but already realized i love smoky ones. Today ordered corryvreckan and after this video insta sub👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Would not dialude it

Enjoyed the conversation!
Great review. I need to pick up some of this- love all peaty whiskeys
Best single malt whisky 2020
True, the day after aroma. So difficult do non pour again.
My middle name is Corryvreckan and it means Cauldron of the Deep. Corryvreckan is the third largest maelstrom in the world today!
Bought this for Burns night tn
Ireland is part of the British Isles. But for a more interesting view on peoples and nations look into "freeman on the land"

❤ your guys! Ardbeg is king! 👑
When do you guys come to the states?!
I like their dry sense of humor
Expected whisky review, got lessons on geography and politics. Interesting...
I enjoyed the history of GB, UK and England more than the scotch review! 🤣
Mans poured a smidget of liq
Was a favorite, but is now headache juice.

I've been interested in these occasional reports of headaches. Do you get them from wine? I wonder if this is related to tannins.

I can see that Ardbeg was not the first whisky of the day they sipped, too merry to do a sober review. I like it better like this!
