Great info for new gardeners. It took me a few years (and a redesign) to learn to start my garden plan with trees and shrubs, then perennials and biennials and resort to annuals as a last item (which I mostly grow from seed now, and I collect seed from my successes).
Hi Candace! I think it takes a lot of beginner gardeners a while to get to grips with plant types. Often we just ‘dive in’. However like you say it does pay to start from the top and work down through the 5 groups. I’ve been collecting seed this week from some herbaceous perennials.
