Brilliant erosion comparison video yet again. Just shows you how much the council knows about how the people who near the sea have to cope with losing their land and how ignorant the council are by putting up council taxes without even going to look to see what the problems are 🤬
70 years ago I started to visit as we had a caravan at United British the changes are so saddening , South of Galleon Beach was a farm with a corn field I watched the house fall that winter .The last pic I had was camping in 1965
So sad to see it like this, my mum lived in the house on the end of the road I can now see is just a pile of rubble. Go back around 20years and they was around 200 feet Infront of them houses, it's scary how fast it's eroded 😞
I used to take my caravan on the seaside caravan park at Ulrome. In more recent years I go to Mr Moos. The erosion at Ulrome is hard to believe. We used to visit the shop and cafe on the site next door. Beach bank amusements as well. That site had huge concrete blocks made to try and hold back the sea! It didn’t work! The shop and cafe are long gone. Don’t know if they were removed or literally fell over the edge! It all looks so shabby now. Unloved as the sea is going to take everything.
So sad that no one is doing anything ! goverment, councils,volunteers ,and the local community.Large granite rocks.,wooden wave barriers to slow down wave action ,and storms we are losing land at an alarming rate we really are a shrinking Island.!

What you should have looked at is the hundreds of soak away pipes coming from the caravan sites that is helping the erosion of the soft sand/soil banks

I'm near 60 & used to go fishing here as a 8yr old kid with my dad. We used to walk down path similar to this & into a ditch to get onto the beach. A lot has changed over those years
I have shared this video with the local councillor who has passed it on to the Coastal Change Manager at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. He has replied acknowledging this video and issues of Coastal Erosion here.

I’ve been visiting Ulrome and Skipsea since 1983 and we called the properties on green lane Shanty town. They’ve always looked like they’re on the cliff edge. People living in sheds. Every year I expected them to have fallen into the sea but they’re still there!!
Isn't Shanty Town the name given to the community at Cliff Road, off Hornsea Road, at one time the track to Skipsea Withow? It's still there but moves inland every now and again.
Chantry town was given to the wood huts on cliff road Skipsea I remember the dustbin wagon going down there and I helped move them back on mr moos land. We put gas bottles underneath and pushed the entire property back
I was on holiday at the caravan site approx 2 years ago. I walked behind one of several unmarked white pick up vans using the plot at the end of the lane. They were tipping rubbish, I was told to "f*** off " as it was their land , indeed they had several large caravans on the adjacent plot which they were in and out of. Looks like they have continued to use it as an illegal rubbish dump!!!

Search 'East Yorkshire coastal land use' and you'll see that there is a lot that the government would not consider spending many thousands of pounds per metre on (only this week, a spokesperson for ERYC quoted a figure of approximately £20,000 per metre). (ii) Impact elsewhere. It gets complicated, but to cut off the supply of sediment that comes from our cliff erosion would do no favours to the Humber Estuary and the (size of) shipping that is able to use it. Also, North east Lincolnshire would eventually feel the pinch (and have to go to the same government department for money). Defences against the sea accounts for 16.11% of the local coastline, but look at the increased erosion these cause. The situation in Holland is not the same as here, geomorphologically speaking. If truth be known, the Dutch probably benefit from our sediment swirling around in the North sea current.
All because people believe they should do as they are told. Councils are employed by the people they are suppose to be serving the people. But they are criminals robbing the people, putting this charge or that tax on the people. Wake up folks they are no higher than you. If they profess to be higher than you, they are then servants of the people. To serve where do we get law from? The law that stands forever is the Ten Commandments the law of love, love of God and love of neighbour. We are all answerable for what we say and do.
Have lived in Skipsea for 30 yrs on other side of village Green lane was and still is classed as holiday homes not homes from day one they all knew this and when a bungalow was 9 metres from the front door it was pulled Down Now gypsies live there The drains from local camps do not help they wash the cliff away
The largest single incident of cliff loss within the 500 metre section of monitoring profile Pr25, the centre line of which crosses Green Lane at 89.5 metres to the north of October Cottage, appeared in data for March 2007 when 9.36 metres of cliff succumbed. Guide lines for safety are to assume a historical recorded maximum loss as being repeatable and arguably one that may be exceeded, given the composition and height of the local cliff together with other conditions. It would possibly be considered irresponsible not to apply the knowledge. In fact, this is by no means the greatest individual loss along the coast. Do a search for 'East Yorkshire coastal cliff lines' to see the methodology and cliff loss maxima. A background to the Skipsea Green Lane community is shown on another page (and, yes, it has happened before).

You have to remember that when people bought these houses they had around a 100foot garden Infront of them then a road then another 30-50foot Infront of the road before the cliff. They didn't imagine losing there house in 20years time
I took a few pics along Green lane as I was staying in one of the Caravans behind at Parkdean last September. Such a gloomy outcome for everyone there, just biding time for the inevitable.

What you should have looked at is the hundreds of soak away pipes coming from the caravan sites that is helping the erosion of the soft sand/soil banks
