Hi, don't know if you're still responding to comments but did you have to submit any school specific videos for bu? or do you just have to link a portfolio that showcases your work
I didn't have to submit any videos to BU! I believe there was an option to include more information about myself and I may have linked my TH-cam channel but beyond that I didn't do anything.
Thank you for the video! I do have a question about the honors&awards section in CA. It seems like everything you've put in are acdemically related, which is really what the prompt asks, but what if I have a prestigious award that's linked to my photography and art works, or awards given by film festivals that are not necessarily acdemic awards but are still honors? Do you think I can put in those instead cause my acdemic awards are just not as outstanding as the awards I've earned outside of school. Tysm!
Hey, Xavier! In the honors section, I only put my academic honors because I didn't really have many film/photography related ones; if I had had some stronger ones, I probably would've put them in. There isn't really a stereotypically "right" answer as to what you can/should put in the honors section, and it's definitely not wrong to put film/photo awards in. Generally speaking, you want to convey yourself as authentically and as well rounded as possible, so if these awards do that, then I'd say put them in. If you're still on the fence, there are plenty of other places to put this award; for example, my NYU slideroom application prompted me to submit a creative resume (a film/photo award would fit perfectly there). I'm sure some other schools have similar prompts to that. You could also potentially work it into your essay/supplements or your activities section, if you felt like it. Also, you can change your common app from application to application, so you could submit the film/photo award to some schools and not others; there are tons of options. Definitely get other opinions, though, because I could be completely wrong, and most importantly, just try to convey yourself as authentically as possible. Good luck with your applications, and I hope this helps!
Congrats!! BU is my dream school, I hope I get in!!
