This podcast striking the balance between being hilarious and sincere, and the wide range of guests (and now cohosts), is why I watch/listen every week. Other comedy podcasts were people just talk shit all the time don't keep my interest, and more straight up interview/conversation style podcasts only really interest me if I already am interested in the guest.
I’m so lucky to have to recommended to me by a friend because I didn’t have to sort through all the other podcast channels before finding this one and chosen family.
I sincerely can't remember the last time I laughed this hard watching the pod. I'm listening at work, and I've had to keep ducking down in my desk to laugh. Jamie & Nico are both so effortlessly hilarious!
This was one of my favorite episodes to date!! The chemistry was amazing, please have Jaime on again! Also, Nico is super quick witted and funny as well as deeply empathetic 😂
On the cubbyhole drama- context, I'm a trans guy who presents androgynous. Recently a trans woman I'd hooked up with invited me out to an event that turned out to be pretty clearly intended for wlw only. (Either they forgot I'm sort of a man, or they forgot the event was called "d/ke night" 😅) and when I figured this out I was immediately like "alright so I hope y'all have a good night" and dipped lol. Can't imagine why anyone would want to insert themselves into a space full of people having a mutual interaction that they aren't a part of, even aside from the fact that a classically cis heterosexual guy is a directly threatening presence in those spaces.
I listened to the podcast today instead of watched it but wanted to pop on here to say that I thought Jamie did a great job “looking pretty and pressing those buttons” on today’s episode. Hope to see that cis-het man back on this gayyy podcast very soon. 💖
I lost count of the amount of times I cackled out loud this episode. Jamie and Nico are both SO funny! ( ....Also "James Corden being the + sign" is wildly hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣) ... Please let's have them both back on regularly!
I have a younger sibling (afab non-binary). Obviously not sisters, but close to I suppose. I love them more than anyone in the world. The bond between two siblings being raised as girls is truly something else.
PARIS- the Eiffel tower is fine. But the best way to see it is a bateau mouche- the boat tours on the Seine. You get to see way more, & it's super romantic (as long as you avoid school groups! Which is easy- just pay more or go at/after sunset)
Thank you for not doing a bletter hlelp sponsorship since theyve been soooo problematic. Im sure its hard to turn down that ca$h but its the right thing to do. ✨HASHTAG PATREON ✨
@@sushi_girl4768 there’s a lot of stuff out there and sometimes it “mysteriously” disappears but Mickey Atkins has a few videos talking about it. Look up “therapist explains why I’ll never take a sponsorship from better help”
so just cuz I wanted to check, from the L word episode Jaime watched, it could've been Bette and Tina, Tasha and Alice, or Bette and Jodi who were making out lol
Jamie & Nico are always a great time. Hilarious episode. Thoughtful too. Sorry to hear gay bars are less fun in NY! UK gay bars are extremely fun. Cheesy pop music wall to wall. Highly recommend
I live like 45 minutes from Wake Forest and it’s much better here now. Yes, there are definitely people here who are homophobic but there are just as many that are not. And I have found a really fantastic queer community. Hopefully it’s going to keep going!
As a transwoman, going into a lesbian bar was harder after coming out. Then when identified as a man Anytime you go into a space where there are women, you have to be accepted. Every time But now I'm along in my transition where I would walk into a lesbian bar and not even think twice. But let's be real there are A lot of lesbians that are terfs, which we know are unsafe. To people like me
I think a lot of people pretend like terfs are an "online only" thing but at least where I'm from (Czechia, dating women from all over Slavic Europe) I learn A LOT about lesbian transphobia on first dates. I have a little trans brother so it's important to me not to date a transphobe and I thought I'd have to be sneaky about checking for transphobia on dates but nope. They sometimes use trans slurs before they even order a drink. EDIT: My little brother is trans. Not that I have a brother who's a little trans lmao
Yes this was my thought. I think Ashley is technically correct that a day 1 trans woman should be allowed in a lesbian bar but I've never met a trans person who wasn't super afraid and avoidant of those situations in the earlier days.
As a gay in North Carolina. There's more of us out here. In Raleigh, there's Legends and Ruby Deluxe and the LGBT center. Within reasonable driving distance, there's gays out in the wild hanging out in Chapel Hill, just go where the rainbow flags hang in the street (not inside, in the streets). Pride is kinda meh. Sorority girls are scary AF. And there's literally a women's college: Meredith. Are we San Fran? No, never 😂. Is there a bigger queer community in NC from Raleigh to Ashville than Montana (where I lived before)? YES. Raleigh to the coast.... You are on your own kid, might as well pray.
Please can we have some femme & butch & stud -identifying guests !! I love the pod but want these experiences & culture & history to be represented too
I appreciate this comment but I think if you scroll through, besides stud, which I believe you mean black, more masculine lesbians, but just clarifying because people get these wrong all the time, I think femmes and butches are extremely well represented as compared to bisexual men, trans folks, or even gay men. I understand people want lesbians and bisexuals, especially femme presenting, (I see the data), but I’m really invested in keeping this podcast diverse. But if I’m misunderstanding you, please let me know. I know recently I’ve had less femmes, prior to the summer, I leaned into already famous, femme lesbians and bisexuals by request. Most of whom were white (see famous). But unfortunately, the stories were very similar and it wasn’t typically as funny. And the chemistry wasn’t as good. So I moved away from that, and now I’m getting better feedback the pod is funnier, and that’s the direction I love, and is better for my on stage career as it creates more comedy viewers. So I’m going to go towards that. Please let me know if I’ve misunderstood your request. Thanks for watching!
Hey, appreciate the reply and totally see the direction you're headed and love the push for diversity. I watch most eps and have done since early Kate-era (love) but admittedly not every single one so maybe I'm missing some. When I say femme and butch lesbians, I'm not meaning fem and masc presenting or identifying, because they are distinct (I don't think I can best describe here so have a google but femme/butch/stud are specific identities of lesbians, not to sound patronising sorry it's hard to word typed vs speaking!) And yes correct re studs but again specific identity, not all black masc lesbians will identify as a stud (I believe, but I'm white so can't speak on this one). Maybe it's the case that there have been many fem/masc guests who also identify as femme/butch but didn't talk about that so much on the pod? which is totally their perogative. Idk femme/butch or femme/stud or femme/femme or butch/butch dynamics and relationships are super interesting & have so much history behind them, it would just be so cool to see that rep & I'm certain the comedy could be fab. also something great for bringing back Maddie's queer theory corner...gender identity v relevant, for eg when I say I am a femme lesbian I am communicating just as much about my sexuality as my gender... maybe it would an interesting one to have a couple on that identify that way & have that relationship dynamic ?? @@ashgavs
LISBON - ahh you could just sleep in tbh. Walking around the river up until Terreiro de Paço is nice. If you're up for going up steps you can also walk around Príncipe Real to get a vibe for the city. Otherwise, the more touristy downtown that's walking distance from the venue is really cute. Personally I think the town is most fun at night
This is the winning combination. I do love your other cohosts. Even though they failed at their job *cancel*. But this… cancel all future guests, book Jaime as the permanent cohost, and take this to the bank. I was prepared for meh with the honorary lesbian of a cis straight man bit, but I’m there. Jaime is the spokesperson for this label. Cis/straight honorary lesbian, gold star, and trans man in a monogamous straight presenting relationship- this is the ticket for all things hilarious. Bonus that Jaime took his job seriously. Love it!
please dont prepare for meh with any of my guests regardless of sexuality. personally ive taken way more risks on meh personalities with queer femme folks because they are influencers and what not and my fans request them. but when i book a straight dude, you know the fire is coming. anyway i wish folks wouldnt do this. thank you for listening.
@@ashgavs You are inferring things I have not said, nor alluded to. I came into this episode not because of your guests or cohosts, but because of your title. Cis/het dudes calling themselves lesbians in any life is cringe. It’s not cute, and it’s something lesbian femmes have had to deal with negatively forever from dudebros that keep trying after we’ve said “no”.
Can we just talk about how Nico is just the trans het version of Ashley with a tan (at least compared to Ashley) and apparently a lot more fans? Sorry Ash if u read this.
This was so fucking funny. Effortless. Lighting in a bottle. The only thing that would've made it even better is if maddie were here. But that's probably coming in the future, so I'll just be patient. Everyone, say thank you, Ashley!
Also if you’re gonna eat one thing in Paris, I suggest galette, which is like a savoury crepe. Or if you want something more fancy there’s Angelina for a good French breakfast/brunch but expect to wait in line.
well, from what I saw you're going to be in Lisbon for april 25th, the day we overthrew our fascist government and it's going to be the 50th year celebration, so definitely check out the march if you can. But also, our equivalent to MAGA republicans just got a huge boost in parliment so it might not be completely peaceful.
re: Queer bars. Personally I think policing who can be in which spaces is just silly. You really don't know what anyone is going through. Plus, hostility is not a great front to put out anyway. That Said, I'd immediately feel wary of any place that very prominently calls itself a lesbian bar cause the vibe can get real terfy real fast 🫤 it sucks
Lmao, jamie did PHENOMENAL as cancel coach!! Please have him on again! All 3 of you work so well together, so funny!!

Great ep! Very funny
Telling someone you dated your homophobic ex for years, having transitioned by now, is a great power move. That revenge was worth the time.
For that one I'm clapping until my hands get tired.
Loooved this episode the vibe between u 3 was top notch
Gay bars are really fun but with friends, it’s friends that make the difference
That's true for all bars IMO. Bars are a miserable place to go to alone.
