Minnie was a great man. I spoke with him for decades at White Sox games. He was truly a man of the people. It's disgusting the HOF voting is such that Minnie was not alive to see this day. His last game was in 1980. The HOF needs to look in the mirror
Minnie hit the first homer I ever saw, on May 22nd, 1960. Big deal to a 13 year old kid. What a man! He was loved by every Sox fan who ever saw him play. Being in the HOF is a given for a super star of his caliber.
What a great person. Over 35 years ago, I remember having him sign my baseball cap at a little league all star game. I didn't even know who he was at the time. But, almost every time I'd go to a Sox game, he was there, walking around greeting fans, signing autographs. Truly a person who loved the game and a great ambassador. Props to him, his family and the White Sox organization.
I got the pleasure of meeting Minnie in 1996 in my hometown of Michigan City, Indiana. Super nice guy. And he even hugged and posed for a picture with me. He signed and gave me a game used baseball.
Like many I met Minnie when I was 10 at a ball park and was lucky to have become his friend many years later . In his name I can’t help but thank all his fans that are commenting on the site. major league baseball , The Hall of Fame, The Chicago White Sox and the fans that made that weekend unforgettable. thank you Charlie and Sharon for inviting me to be a part of this wonderful and beautiful experience, along with the rest of the family. I felt Minnie’s presence there and It was as happy as I ever saw him. Not because he got into the Hall of Fame because we all knew then what we know now but because his fans and family were having such a wonderful time. that’s what made him happy his fans his family and life.
Growing up in the late 50's to early 60's in Chgo, I had two sports idols: "LiL' Louie Aparicio, and of course Minnie Minoso. All you had to say was Minnie - everyone KNEW that you weren't talking about a cartoon mouse! .299 Career BA, & A CLASS ACT!!! ⚾
I had the privilege of meeting Minnie, Moose & Billy Pierce at Billy Pierce's wedding anniversary. They were a hoot then I can only imagine back in the day!
Actually, Mel Almada, a Mexican national who attended Los Angeles High School, and was himself pretty dark-skinned, played for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, St. Louis Browns, and Brooklyn Dodgers from 1933 to 1939, 16 years before Minoso debuted for the Cleveland Indians in 1949 ⚾

The Cuban Comet reaction would be “Thanks but I don’t deserve this” when the whole world knows he 100% does. Humble guy to the core
It's about time for Minnie Minoso to have his day in the sun and Jim Kaat too both so deserving and long over due
As a kid watching Minnie Minoso was a thrill. Meeting him as an adult was even better. He was a great human being
OMG, What GREAT memories indeed! Altho "LiL' Louie Aparicio" was my idol, Minnie Minoso was a close second!

Minne deserved to be in the hall of fame no doubt one of the best baseball players who inspires everyone to do there best.

A glory of Cuba- well deserved!! Too bad Minnie was not here to see it- this was a long time coming! Should have happened years ago

Finally!
He should have been selected a long time ago, while he was still alive, but better late than never, I suppose.

It's a wrong that needed to be righted.
