I think you are being a bit harsh on Mr Peanutbutter, but it's understandable. He's definitely one of the 5 main characters, but he's mostly a foil to Bojack in season 1 His character development is more in later seasons
I remember the first time I watched this show in 2015, and the "You are 40" hit like a truck even then. Now as I get older, with every successive rewatch it manages to hit even harder. No matter who you are or where you are, aging, that feeling that life is slipping by you and that you wasted your best years on something or somebody, like you're staying the same when everyone else is changing... that feeling is universal. Whether you're 15 or 30 or 40 or 80, everyone feels that way at several points in their lives. I love Princess Carolyn, and this episode combined with the next one really solidified this show as something truly different and special in my eyes.
This is where the show really gets good IMO! Glad that you love PC so much, she is also one my favorite characters of the show - also she gets really fun tongue twister jokes, because the voice actress hates tongue twisters and the writers wanted to tease her.
@@eden.a7558 probably cuz a lot of people are lonely angry men who sympathize with Bojack perhaps a little too much and actually think the others in the show are in the wrong- i may be wrong but thats the vibe i got from people ive seen make arguments like that lol, people who relate too much to being an awful person who hurts others and dislike the people who are like categorically better people All 3 phenomenal characters ofc

Next week is episode 8 which is an episode that a lot of fans claim it’s when the show finds its footing and “gets good” and I’d be inclined to agree but god damn do people sleep on episode 7 because of that, which is a shame because in my opinion it’s one of the best in the series and that ending is one hell of a gut punch as Princess Carolyn is looking over her accomplishments of the day feeling empty and unappreciated during her 40th birthday.
It's such a good narrative, I forgot it was in the first season. Not that the first season is bad, but this episode is memorable and reminds of some of the good future episodes.
Oh, yes that gut punch of "You are 40" solidified my hunch that it going to be an amazing show that cares about it's characters and wants to dissect them at the same time.
This episode is where it sinks in for me... This isn't a sit-com , it's a dramedy. And it mixes drama and comedy better than any other show ive watched
Reading the comments and seeing this episode or the next one is where people think this show "gets good" and not as soon as Bojack literally refused to say that a US veteran is a hero.... well well I guess we all have different experiences 😅
Finally, the episode that really shows how it can survive not being tied to Bojack and that more likely than not all the characters have full lives that they go though every day.
I love how you guys identify Princess Carolyn's need and optimal role as a manager - makes me really reflect on what it means for her AND on a personal level!
My favorite character of the main cast is Todd, but Princess Carolyne is the one that I feel more empathy towards. She really is only doing her damn best
Hell yeah we made it!!! The first half of season one is meant to lull you with typical adult animated sitcom shenanigans… but we’re in the back half now. Mask off. THIS is what the show is going forward.
Now I'm really hype for you to see more of these characters depths and what the rest of this incredible animated show has to offer. Especially as you two get closer to the future later seasons of this series, the more episodes you'll get of these characters very human issues and flaws amongst their pasts. The more this show hits on so many levels when it comes to both the good and bad of adulthood and its struggles.

This is a good episode, but if the guys thought it was beautiful, they're in for a real treat when they get to some of the true masterpieces later in the show!
1. This is a show worthy of binge watching because that sets the tone better. 2. Emotionally it follows a wave pattern from episode to episode and within an episode, imo. 3. Her name isn't just Carolyn, it's PRINCESS CAROLYN.😅 This isn't one I consider one of the PC episode. 4. If you really wanna enjoy the story and storytelling, don't look at the thumbnail or read the synopsis, your loss 😬 5. I bet you can't catch all the punnery even if you are engrossed in it. Cheers! God there are so many voice actor cameo in Bojack Horseman, it's kinda amazing ! Princess Carolyn boss is voiced by none other than Stephen Colbert !!

This episode is really good! For season 1. I dont want to set unrealistic expectations but some episodes later are straight up masterpieces.
