Thanks for reviewing Competition Mode Beta, John! Now we're curious about what your 2k record would be! While you created this video, we already came up with hotfix 1.23.1 to remove a couple of bugs. We noted down your feedback for our next update. Keep up the great videos!
I also experience a problem when using Waterrower. It seems like it takes such a long time for the spit to catch up (vs C2) that I regularly place 1 in 2000k and 5 or 6 in 500k. I know you've made and effort to even that out with the EXR split but that makes it even worse.
@@ronmarans4989 Does anyone know if it's a Smartrow issue or an EXR issue? I should mention that I'm not looking to blame anyone, just ask if the issue has been resolved and if not - do we know where the issue lies. The reason I'm asking is that I'm in the market for a rower (beginner here) and I don't know which one to get - Concept 2 or the Waterrower. I like the looks,, sound, and lower noise of the latter but it's also more expensive.
Thanks for the new review on competition row. I might just give this a go. It sounds like it would be a great tool to use for timed tests, would definitely get the blood flowing and heart pumping with a bit of competition to get you pumped up for a personal best
The visuals are pretty nice. The cool thing is, that it works across multiple rowers (Smartrow, C2 PM5). Within Smartrow app there’s a quite similar race mode. It allows to race against randomly chosen recorded rows of other SR rowers on one’s level or live races. It’s certainly not as visual/virtual, but the race is fun too.
Glad to see this feature. It was fun to try. One suggestion. In cinematic mode (or any video mode for that matter) it might be helpful to show an angle toward the finish (maybe the last 50 to 100 meters) like you see on tv. Meaning from the side where you can see all the boats (at least those close to the leader).
Thanks for the overview and review. Once EXR competition mode is out of beta, I’d be interested in your opinion of it vs. ErgRace, RowPro and any other apps that allow racing. One thing I don’t care for is the 3-2-1 countdown. Countdowns are great for cyclists and rockets; as you know rowers do Ready, ATTENTION, Go!
When there are no connection issues etc, RowPro is hard to beat, apart from the fact it's PC/Mac only - in which case ErgRace is in the lead right now, even if it does have limited graphics. If EXR continues to develop the racing side, it could well overtake both - so as you suggest I'll keep reviewing and comparing.
Thanks for the review. I am unimpressed. The rate on the screen bears no relationship to the rate on the erg. In other words it doesn't represent you at all. The problems outlined in the video about syncing distances is also off-putting. I had a go with the EXR beta when it first came out and thought it a disappointment. Nothing I have seen would bring me back, which is sad, as I really wanted this to be better.
This is a really old review of the app. Take a look at the recent row I uploaded “Jan 7th live row” - and you’ll see that the timing and the rate issues have cleared up. Maybe I should remove this review and make a new one…
Does that model broadcast via Bluetooth? If so, when the "Connect Rower" option pops up on EXR, set your rower to whatever it needs to broadcast - and hopefully EXR will see it.
Yeah, the webpage for that model says it has Bluetooth Connectivity. But it doesn't say whether it Broadcasts that, or whether it's just for receiving HR data etc. Best to check the manual I'm afraid. If it said "FTMS Protocol" anywhere, then it 'should' work.@@innovirtua
Competition Mode is still in Beta - and they're fixing / tweaking this so quickly that they've already released a fix since I made this!!

That's great news! I know this is very much a release that's going to be moulded into final shape - but it already looks amazing.

Going to give this a go in the morning. Great review.
RowAlong Treasure Hunt I’m enjoying exploring non-rowing videos

#noneedtostop loved this one. Messed up my normally consistent numbers (low and slow) with your messing. Keep it up.

How do I connect a Life Fitness Heat Performance Row to Exr?

@@rowalongThanks, will try. I have a feeling it's down to some sort of "protocol". That's about as technical as I get!

@@rowalong Thanks for the advice mate, much appreciated. I think i'll have words with a local servicer.
Won't work with PM3?
Yes, it does. With the cable. exrgame.com/support/concept-2
Just seen Windows connection via cable.
Why is this not in VR?
I think that’s a whole level of new programming. But I agree, it would be amazing.
