  • This is an unboxing video of the new Cuckoo Multicooker Q5.
    It is an electric pressure cooker, with voice guide and announcements.
    It also has a number of nice features I go over in the video, including automatic pressure release.
    Cuckoo provided this pressure cooker to me at no charge.
    I received no compensation other than the pressure cooker.
    Here are Amazon Affiliate links, I get a commission if you use these links before making an Amazon purchase (even if it isn't this pressure cooker)
    US amzn.to/2FSYJrx
    Canada amzn.to/2Gow4bH
    List price is $200
    I would not buy from grey market sellers, they're asking up to $600, which is excessive.

    When Matt tried the rice he just tried the rice on the top and said it was good. I have an instant pot multicooker, and the rice on the top is good, but the rice on the bottom touching the pot is hard. The better rice cookers can cook the rice so that all of the rice comes out good. When checking rice in a rice cooker, or multi-cooker you need to check the rice from different parts of the pot to see how consistent the rice comes out. If he had tested my instant-pot the way he tested the Cuckoo he would have said the instant-pot is a good rice cooker. The Instant-Pot Multicooker is not a really good rice cooker, but it's good enough that I still use it for cooking rice.
    Overall I thought that this was a good video. I realize that this was more of an unboxing video, than a cooking video, and it is good as an unboxing video (Although a little long for an unboxing only video). I am just pointing out the one part of the video (tasting the rice) that he could improve in future videos.

      Really insighful and valid comment. You're right, I find that the Cuckoo is takes longer as it has a dwell cycle, but it cooks more evenly and nicely. As an "unsupervised cooking appliance" the Cuckoo is better, but it doesn't have the same manual controls as the Instant pot (or simple timed pressure cooker).

    Good info about the product just that it kinda annoys me the way you handle the product was too rough needs to be gentle with care..Geez

      I've been using it regularly for 2 years now, and it's still working great. I didn't think I'm that rough on stuff, but I am not really all that gentle. I find it's a rather decent (but pricey) product.

    I have this product. What else have you cooked? Last night I reheated left overs and it did a good job.

    Does anyone know the different times for different types of rice?

    *Found the answer myself, it's only in English and Chinese for voice audio. Really weird for an item made in Korea...*
    Does the audio have a choice between Korean and English? I'd prefer to hear my options/alerts in Korean!

    Hello,
    Thank you for the review.
    Do you know exact temp for the heat setting? Mine is not in fahrenheit. It’s just a number setting. If you happen to have that info thank you so much!

    Thanks for the review. Can you cool gaba rice with this?

    • @casond6467
      @casond6467 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, you can’t. If you want to cook gaba rice, get the CRP-HS0657F, or the CRP-EHSS0309FG. The reason is induction heating technology is not in this model, and is needed for gaba rice.

      You can try for black HN10 or Q10 or CH10. They're all great for Gaba cooks.

      It's available now. I'm not an official rep or anything, they just sent me one. Bit pricey, but it is really nice, and the automatic release and stuff is pretty cool.

    Which one is better, Ninja Foodi or Cuckoo.

    • @MattintheKitchen
      @MattintheKitchen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have a Ninja Foodi. I do use my Cuckoo a LOT, it's wonderful and rarely burns. I don't like the lack of a real manual cycle, but once you figure out the recipe it becomes a real set and forget item. Disclaimer, it was provided to me free of charge.

    it depressurises on its own when the cooking time is over

    • @MattintheKitchen
      @MattintheKitchen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it has a small solenoid that flips up the weight. It makes a warning sound, and says releasing steam. It seems to do this about 3 minutes before the indicated end time.
      If you want to cancel mid cycle, just hold the cancel button for a few seconds and it will pop the weight and vent. You never need to put your fingers anywhere near the weight.

    Condensation collecting at the back doesn't seem convenient...
    And the pin on the underside not better.
