Wow. The fan motor was working for 30 some years! These old Rheems were practically indestructible.
You can use a skillsaw/ circular saw whatever you call it to cut shaft just a tip
They may be ugly but those old rheems are tanks. I see way more of them still in operation than any other brand of that era
The nuts on the motors are usually 11/32. Must've been really hot for you working late.
