    Great video and card! Pin hole doesn't bother me, but i do wonder why it's right in the middle of the card? Usually the pin holes I've seen are higher up like someone had tacked it on the wall. Anyway, it's part of the card's history! Congrats on the addition.

    That’s a big boy card for sure. I have 3 from that set. Cannot be a 3 with a pinhole. 1.5 tops. But still a beautiful card.

    PSA is inconsistant with everything. Ive seen some horrible psa 9s and 10s. I deal mostly in vintage pokemon but I do a sports too and the inconsistanty with everything they grade is tremendous. Thr amount of money difference between a 9 and 10 is so high its criminal to miss these flaws.

  • @adamlee1562
    @adamlee1562 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    To be fair, it's not just PSA that misses things. That's great advice for ALL grading companies and sounds like you've been around long enough, you've more than likely seen SGC and BVG stuff that seemed a big generous on the grade for the card in the holder. Good content, but you do sound a little like an axe to grind with PSA

    • @vintageoddballcards6103
      @vintageoddballcards6103  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do prefer SGC over PSA. SGC tends to be more consistent with there grading. For PSA to miss a pinhole on a scarce Ty Cobb card is unacceptable. It’s not like they missed a bad corner on one of Luka’s 20,000 RC cards.

  • @montrealsports29

    If I was buying graded cards (which I don't) and someone said you could choose between a PSA 3 and a PSA 4 of the same card and pay the same price for either of them, I'd still want to see what the cards looked like because the 3 could end up looking nicer than the 4, based on how inconsistent PSA's grading is. Glad that you had a good time at The National. I guess it would be difficult having a bad time being in the midst of so many cards.

    That’s a nice photo on that Ty Cobb card. With the history of you seeing that card over the years it wasn’t meant to be in your collection. I have seen Vintage cards with pin holes graded by SGC they usually grade a 1. None the less that card is a awesome.

  • @TalkingBallCards

    Rick, this is a great public service announcement for those looking at older PSA slabs. One of my favorite things to do is finding old PSA slabs and finding a technical flaw they missed, such as pinhole or wrinkle and making them Grade Guarantee review the card. In the end they frequently reduce the overall grade and are forced to pay me the market value difference between the grades. Let me tell you, there is nothing sweeter than depositing a PSA check into your account. I’d suggest you do the same here!

From 47 thru present I prefer PSA but, I've recently noticed SGC is invading PSA territory from 47 thru 59. They're tougher than PSA and the cards just look better in the SGC slabs.

      Thanks! Love the Oxford cards. I hope to pickup the Walter Johnson one day. Crazy PSA gave the card a 3.

    Congrats to the winner! Very generous of you Rick! Sweet card, even with the pin hole.
