Putin's suggestion to Assad that he should ally with the Kurds is a hilarious red herring which he knows wouldn't work. Useless suggestions like these must make Assad feel like he is being thrown to the wolves.

If Assad feels he is being thrown to the wolves, then he is probably not alone. The Kurds have more or less been thrown to the wolves on-off at different times.
After the initial euphoria, seems that the MSM is getting a bit worried about the achievements of the Moderate Al-Qaeda Head Chopping Freedom Fighters.
If this goes on, the US may have to once again help Assad by helping the Kurds which in turn will cause a hostile Turkish reaction.
