      I faced him in a Jiu Jitsu tournament when he first came to America. I remember I had no idea who he was but I was scared of him before the match even started. He took me down and submitted me easily 😂. I never felt the strength and technique like Khabibs. Even some heavyweights aren’t as strong as him, I wrestled and grappled a lot of people won state championship California 2012.

    Rockhold had genuine fear in his gaze. You could see him remembering getting beaten by Khabib. He was just to proud to admit that he got handled by a much smaller guy. That is scary as hell. Luke is not a small guy, or a slouch, despite what people may think about him. He is genuinely one of the best fighters in his division. And he was afraid. Afraid. A wolf amongst sickly curs.

      The regional wrestling try outs for the Dagestan region have more talent than the Olympics. And then those guys have to go to nationals to wrestle against Chechens, Udmurts, Siberians, Alans and Kobordinians. There is a reason countries now offer citizenship to top wrestlers from those regions who end up representing them in the olympics and world championships. To put it this way, a guy who takes third place at Dagestani regionals would probably maul national champions from most countries.

When no one comes close to that in ten years then they will

    • @alekseydrotenko3289
      @alekseydrotenko3289 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Some people consider explosiveness as a measurement of strength. Khabib does not explode like some guys because he trains to hold you, now to hit you the hardest. If he wanted to be the hardest hitter he could have worked on that if that was his priority. So when they say strongest they probably mean he doesn't bench or squat the most. His grip strength though is what sets him apart. Once he gets a hold of someone, there is no escaping before the belt.

    • @Goggalor1990
      @Goggalor1990 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's like my coach (Brock Larson, also fought in the UFC and One). He's still really strong but he's not going to win a bench press competition. But his static strength and grip is otherworldly. He feels like he's made out of rocks and he'll give you an arm and dare you to try to Kimura him. Doesn't move an inch no matter how hard you try and it works all the way to heavyweight lol. No one is worthy haha 😆

    • @therainman7777
      @therainman7777 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think you misunderstood part of the video. When Mendez said Khabib never lost a sparring session (btw he said Khabib _has_ lost rounds, just not entire sessions)-he’s talking about a proper sparring session, in which Khabib would be doing real sparring against someone his own size and weight class. Khabib did some grappling training with Rockhold, but that wasn’t real sparring where there are rounds and everything, and most likely Rockhold was not going at 100%. And almost certainly Khabib has _never_ sparred rounds with DC. That would be insane, that’s a lightweight and heavyweight sparring. No way that’s happening in any halfway decent gym. Again, DC and Khabib have probably wrestled each other a bit in the gym. But that’s not a proper sparring session, and even in those cases DC was not going anywhere near 100%. Khabib is an incredible fighter, probably the greatest ever at lightweight and one of the greatest ever p4p, too. But there’s simply no way he’s winning against a UFC heavyweight champion who’s also an Olympic-level wrestler in Daniel Cormier. The difference in size, weight, and strength is simply too vast.
