Hi mrt performance, can you tell me if it is too complicated to do this procedure at home? My subaru forester is year 2011 and has no oil filter on the outside. thank you.

Hello, I have a 2001 Subaru Forester with a 2.5 L engine and a four speed automatic transmission. It has about 200k miles on it. I have recently been experiencing trouble going from park to any of the forward gears. Reverse works just fine. I suspect that it is the shift solenoid assembly inside the transmission. I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance. ✌️, Jeremy

i had some slow change issues = but checked the throttle cables for slackness = 2 turns on 1 cable and one turn on the 2nd cable = feels like a new car less pedal and easy take off also adjusted the shifter under the car that was 3 or 4 turns better selecting and next is the hand brake - that is a in car adjustment . hope it helps.

      Ronnie Boucher ,
Only one of my throttle cables was loose (passenger side), so I tightened it. I left the other one alone. I'm not sure about the shifter comment you made. I'll look into that. Thanks for your input. Take care now.
      ✌️,
      Jeremy

    Hello and greetings.
Can you please advice what to check for the problem that I face:
2003 Subaru Forester xt2.0 automatic transmission.
The green power light on the dashboard only turns on when I turn the main switch on but using the hold/power button it's not turning on.
    Thanks!

would you only recommend a genuine internal filter or is a ryco sufficient? Why would Subaru opt to move from the external spin on filters as seen on the pre 06 foz's to only having the internal filters on the later 4eat's? I was a bit disappointed seeing a blanking plate where the old spin on used to sit after upgrading to a face-lift SG.

ive recently had the ATF oil temp light come on a few times, ive done a host of small fixes and maintenance since, but noticed when doing a standard oil change that there was a considerable dent in the trans fluid pan, i was thinking i might have to order new temp sensor or solenoids but after watching this im wondering if this dent is restricting the flow of trans fluid and triggering the warning light to come on (usually with DTC & ABS lights as well)

Why didn't you clean that internal filter? It has the shavings as well...

How many screws does that filter have?? I have a 2011 Subaru Forester X Premium with that 4 speed auto. There is and older version of it with like 15 screws, but that one looks like a plastic filter and not pan gasket.

    HI Bret !
I got a problem with my 2006 Subaru Forester Cross Sports 2.0T 4AET gear box , basically what happened is gear box is locked in the 1 gear and reverse and it doesn't wanna change a gear and ECO light on the dash is flushing , that happened before but it unlocked it self but now is locked permanently . Car wasn't diagnosed yet .
Any word of advise would be highly appreciated.

We fixed the duty C in a Subaru Liberty 1993 after torque binding issues. After we put the gearbox back housing together we filled the transmission up with oil. When we started it up and went into drive it felt like it was stuck in neutral it wouldn't go anywhere it was slipping, its would only move at higher revs.
    What would cause this?
By the way it was kinda doing this before the duty c was replaced but it was drivable.
we never took the gearbox sump off either so I don't know weather there could be problems with any other solenoids.

The same thing was happening to my transmission. .I took out one sensor at a time and checked the resistance on each where I got one with an abnormal number [all was around 3.2 - 4.2 except one ]...the abnormal one I had to move the selector of the multimeter to a lower range so I changed it out and the transmission worked perfectly

I have had a Subaru Forester 1997/8 (automatic) from new (approx. 70,000 miles on the clock), that has been great for all the years with very little to do other than annual services. However, recently I have had a lot of vibration & shuddering on the wheels when making slow tight turns (left or right) but never on the straight or at speed. It is difficult to identify which wheels the noise or shudder comes from and I don't feel much through the steering wheel. I have had all front & rear differentials replace & this has reduced the frequency but not eliminated the problem. Hence, I suspect it may be the central diff. or clutch/transmission. Any Thoughts?

Hello, I also have a 2001 Subaru Forester. Automatic transmission. It was having problems going into forward gears but it would move, reverse gear worked okay. My brother and I changed the transmission filter inside the pan as well as the filter located on the side. After doing so the subaru won't go into any gear now! Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Justin Zedlav hey mate. Sounds like the clutches in the trans are worn and the old oil had enough material suspended in it to allow it to grip. With the new oil no longer having that material in it, it’s not able to engage the gears. That’s what it sounds like anyway

    • @brapamaldi7666
      @brapamaldi7666 2 ปีที่แล้ว

true. it is a 'strainer' at best, no filter medium in it at all. it was also the earlier model 4eat that had external filters (and remote on the 5eat), they stopped doing that in 06/07ish.
