I don't know it always feels sad when you finish a pikmin game. Just leaving the pikmin alone feels wrong, but you know they'll be fine by themselves
Well this time seems pretty good as Moss can lead and protect the Pikmin, and the Ancient Sirehound seems to be friendly (it’s walking behind and it’s eyes have turned blue) and seems to be an ally to moss and the Pikmin now, so they have that protection as well. But yeah in the past game it seems like you were leaving the Pikmin alone.
in every pikmin game you find them at near extinction, every tome you leave them they all immediately die

It even ends the same way, Louie continues to be a menace in both games
It had elements of all 3.
Rebooting olimar story, rebooting pikmin 2's story of finishing, returning, finishing and "saving" louie, and rebooting pikmin 3 by saving olimar
This whole game is basically Pikmin 2²
pikmin 2 just drops you in the map and tells you to go get a billion million dollars until the fake ending where it gives you the objective of louie. while in pikmin 4 the progression is a lot more involved and story-event driven, with more objectives.
I think the reason why the good ending of Olimar’s Shipwreck Tale still ended the same was because Olimar canonically failed to escape before his life support failed. In the good ending, it just happened to be caused by Moss who cared for Olimar enough to try and escape with him, though it would cost his life.

It's because moss snuck into the gargo hold
Moss was simply aware of the *_Canon Event,_* and was willing to make sure it happens, by any means necessary.

For this “secret ending” you can actually find the white and purple onions, causing the two behind the main onion to be replaced with randomly colored onions
Ohhh, that's why. Those onions were both red for me so I was confused when I saw this video. Good to know.
Where are the white and purple onions? I have only left the gold bar but I don't want to farm purple pikmins for that

@@ratonlaveur1090 and to unlock the quest you have to finish Olimar’s story
That does explain why it was a red and a white onion (I also had the purple and white onions)

Had a moments stare at the ending screen and thought to myself that this wouldn't be a bad place to cap off.
Having that fleeting thought and seeing "Until my next adventure..." broke me. I look forward to our next adventure Olimar, even if it is another decade away

What's strange is you don't have 30 days like usually to recover the 30 parts you only have 15 but it's easy if you know what to do
This is the first game in years that I 100% complete, it was such a joy and hands down my favourite pikmin game. Such a great experience

@@Awwsome0_0 Clear all areas 100% and complete all night missions (which would mean you're curing the leaflings too)
You can also get platinum on all dandori challenges/battles but I wouldn't say that's necessary to get the full experience
That wing Pikmin carrying the red Pikmin was everything ( yeah I had the good ending and the secret ending too )
Is it just me but I love that scene were they take off and the onions fly after them. I looks so beautiful and the music just hits home for me

I had a feeling modern Nintendo didn't really like the original bad ending to Pikmin 1 since it literally featured Olimar being dragged as a corpse back to the Onion and then planeted into the ground with no one able to actually pull him from the ground

There are wild pikmin so perhaps other Pikmin remove them at some point

Yep. The difference here is that Olimar sacrificed himself to make sure Moss could survive.
@@WriterKing92 and that, because he returned to the planet willingly in the good ending, the S.S. Dolphin technically wasn't in disrepair, meaning that Olimar could take off on his own ship instead of aboard the S.S. Shepard.
Look, it's not the S.S. Dolphin's fault. It's never the Dolphin's fault. There's clearly some inexplicable higher power at play here; that, or it's somehow Louie's fault.

Almost teared up during the endings (besides olimar's stuff lol), because it was a case of happiness and sadness. Happiness because, after 10 years, we finally got our game. A little bit of sadness because, well, the journey had to end. But it was also a happy sadness!
While I doubt this is the end of the franchise, as Nintendo has been using pikmin more in advertisements and this game has made bank. I hope this ends olimar story and we move onto something else like helping a colony of rescues rangers survive and colonize the planet
@TheFPSKingsGaming Oh, I didn't mean this comment as like the end of the franchise lol. Just, sad that my first playthrough of the journey is over! I know I can always replay lmao, but the first experience is special to me! Also, I do hope so as well. While I wouldn't mind Olimar existing, at the same time, I do want him to eventually get a break.

If anyone paid attention you would know in the good ending moss tried to leave with olimar and got sick so he turned around and crashed again

The canon event was him leaving returning for Pikmin 2. Him finding moss changed the canon event
I'd be surprised if we don't get any dlc for this game considering how succesfull it was specially in Japan. Playing as moss with the pikmin would be cool
It is so dark that it doesn't matter if Olimar manages to repair his ship or not, he ends up dying anyways, and the only reason he survives it's because of the help of the rescue corps finding a cure to the leafling disease, that ironically is the thing that managed to bring him back to life
Well it does matter; in the good ending he at least gets to keep the SS dolphin at the end of it all
Makes me think that they kept that part consistent between endings because they intend to follow up on it, be that a future game or DLC.
@@tintedpalette653 It was necessary because that section of the game is a flashback. He tells you the story after you rescue him, meaning he had to fail.
I mean in pikmin 1 olimar does fucking die if you don't get all the ship parts so it doesn't surprise me he nearly dies. He's nearly died in like every pikmin game. In 1 he gets turned into a pikmin. In 2 he nearly dies from bankruptcy. In 3 he nearly gets kidnapped and dies from the plasm wrath. In 4 he nearly gets permanently turned into a leafling. Hes just got the ultimate plot armour ig.
Im so glad i finished this game without spoilers becasue when the fake credit scene happened i vocally screamed "LOUIE?!?!! NOT AGAIN!!!"

My pitch for a pikmin 5 is that PNF-404 is dying out, so the rescue corps, Olimar, and the trio from Pikmin 3 join forces to help save the planet. The pikmin have done so much for them, so it will give them a chance to save the pikmin. It would be satisfying seeing the planet slowly come back to life over the course of the game.
By dying out, do you mean the Pikmin species, enemy species, or both?
For olimars tales. It seems like hood or bad ending it doesnt matter as its the same outcome. I guess for the bad ending his ship wouldnt be as functional because it crashed again.. but either way hes turned into a leafling.

speed running an played enough of previous pikmin games Aswell as the demo to understand how to work it. its even possible to 100% the first area on Demo

I mean it’s not THAT difficult, heck, I did it! It was the best mistake of my life. And I’m doing it with Pikmin 5! (Though I did do it with 2 Kirby games (star allies and forgotten land) and those didn’t come close to how fun doing this was, I mean, I am a diehard Pikmin fan, so sue me!)
I have a theory. This isn’t a retcon. It’s a semi-time loop. One purposefully made by whatever entity the Umibozu is. For starters: Louie has crashlanded on Earth and the Water Wraith has already formed. I have a feeling that the Umibozu is trying to evolve itself quicker to become much more dangerous and deadly so that it can finally get rid of Olimar.
i think this takes place after 3 because olimar says he's been in a lot of situations like this before if you say "let's chat!" 3 times. so it just seems like he explains things differently for new players. also at the start of the olimar's tale game mode, he says at the start that he'll simply utilize pikmin and talks as if he has used them before, and he already has the red onion following him by the start of the story. the only "what's this?" he does is about flarlic, which makes sense since we do not see it in any other pikmin game. i think they called it pikmin 4 cus it's the fourth adventure. it's just a bit confusing for some reason

No one seems to mention in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale's ending (both good and bad) not only do they reference the Pikmin 1's good and bad ending but also the normal ending, where you only get the required ship parts, with the Pikmin silently staring at Olimar taking off.
The fact that we never got the pikmin 1 ending fanfare to fully play at any point physically pains me
I had purple pikmins in my ending, and one of the onions was yellow while the other was white. Kind of interesting how you can have different pikmin types in the ending.

You know, I'd have taken that 99% completion if I was able to leave Louie behind.
So the difference between the Normal ending and Secret is that the S.S Dolphin is fixed
Also for some reason the Pikmin that looks back at the recovered final boss is Red rather than Yellow
When I got the secret ending it was a blue pikmin, not red. I believe it's random which of the 3 look behind or something else entirely
The other difference is that Olimar is aware of Moss's inability to leave PNF-404 in the good ending, it's what led him to go back to the planet and inevitably crash again.

So basically this game takes place after the bad ending in Pikmin in the logs it even says Olimar has a dream where hoctate freight goes in a huge debt it can’t payoff aka Pikmin 2.
Going further after you beat the first half in the second half with louie we find out the koppai's from pikmin 3 have still come to this planet while the names have changed. This means the events still took place of there planet needing food. It even mentions how when they met louie he stole all there juice.

I bought Pikmin 4 on 12/24/23 and finished it today 1/3/25. This was my first first pikmin game, and Nintendo game in general out of Mario.
I loved this game so much and was really sad when the whole thing happened. I got the secret ending since I wanted all onions before I finished the game and it was a very bitter sweet ending, rip my 52 pikmin. I’ll remember you forever.

Anyone who even knows about those onions probably know for sure that there's no difference in the secret ending whether or not you have them
It changes just a little bit, both onions are random color, but the main onion ships has all colors, including purple and white, just a little detail
For me the other two onions in the secret ending were yellow and white or maybe it was gold and silver idk it was kinda strange

The Olimar good and bad ending is the bad ending from the first game if you think about it. He fails to get back to his planet and crashes down, then the Pikmin give him to the onion and he turns into a Pikmin
i wonder...if olimar was carried by red pikmin and sucked into the onion to became a RED leafling, would that make him fireproof? and what if he had been carried by a different colored pikmin? if he was sucked in by white pikmin, would he run faster? et cet
at least the onion doesn't decapitate olimar now.

Myth busted, I have the onions and I got rock and purple, pretty sure they're randomized if you have all the onions.
Yeah they are randomized but its possible to get 2 of the same collour so its possible to get 2 yellows. If someone did that explains the rumor of 2 golden onions lol

I'm not exactly sure i'd say the secret ending is a "secret ending" since you an just get it by beating the entire storyline.....
My one and only question is the mysterious staircase in the Hub zone. If you look in the background, you'll notice an odd cave with stairs leading up to it- there is NO WAY that isn't hiding something (and sadly despite FINALLY completing the game 100%, it still isn't unlocked T_T)
God I'm such a try hard I stay doing all the white sage's challenges in one all in platinum without releasing that I would get the onions as a reward, also the last one to get the purple onion/while getting platinum will forever haunt me, 5 hours to get a perfect run

If you finished the olimar side mode his ship gets fixed. But there are even more possible small diffrences depending on how many onions you have.

Weird that they retconned the 1st game for the 4th title. Are they going to retcon 2 as well for the 5th entry? I’m not complaining as 4 is by far the best entry in the series, but I am a tad confused. Yes I’m aware of all of the pikmin theories, but I genuinely believe that this is a retcon opposed to some spacetime shenanigans.
They already retconned 2. Olimar mentioned that he dreamed about the company going bankrupt, and louie says that if he gets a load of golden pikpik carrots he intends to eat them and lie about it to his boss, implying that the events of pikmin 2 havent happend (yet)
