  • Autodesk Fusion 360 evangelist Taylor Stein designed this piece with a great tutorial. I taken it one step further and demonstrated how to lay out the parts ready for machining.

Soooooooo many tutorials spend half (or more than half in some case) saying in this video we will be doing a tutorial about XYZ and then they repeat themselves before going onto the shill part where they do “and today’s sponsor is blah blah blah” followed by yet ANOTHER repeat that today’s tutorial will be XYZ. I swear that most tutorials I come across are like that.... thank god for your simple and straight to the point tutorial. Subscribed.

Is their really no automated version of this? Because this seems like this is a work around. I would totally love if the Fusion team could have a flatten tool to do this as it would be insanely useful for more complicated projects that have more than 3 components lmao.

If your original moves when you align the copy read this. Took me a while to figure this out so I'm leaving this here for newbies like me:
When you align, make sure the object type is COMPONENTS not BODIES. If you select bodies the original will move too, if you select component it will move independently.

Thank you for the tutorial. The duplicated/linked components for CAM are a great idea.

Maybe you can help me. I'm applying your method when trying to lay out my project for cam. But it moves the original model when i'm moving the copy for cam. Any Ideas?

    Hello,
Really great video I am using your approach but I have some problem. So I lay down all the components but after I moved and rotate them I also get rotated and moved components in the 3D model.

Great tutorial. Fancy following on your own tutorial and showing novices how to do the tool paths? Especially in the correct order? (ie. Make sure you cut the cross and circle out of the seat top, before cutting the seat top itself out of the piece of ply?) Maybe even show us the whole piece of ply as geometry/extents for the cuts.
    Oh yeah, I forgot, please.
