    Interesting. The trash now takes the train since there's no bus service.

    Open the door and toss 'em off while the train is still moving.

      Sounds like a great plan. That’s what we should do to all people who are out of control. Just do away with them. You should apply for a position in our communist system coming in.

    Happens in the US too. My father was on a train in the southern US going out west. Somewhere in the middle of Alabama, a drunkard urinated near his sleeping head. He woke up and asked why and was attacked. He defended himself and kicked the drunkard down. Other passengers came in to help and the police was called to take him off at the next level crossing.

    It's not because of homelessness and drug abuse, it's due to the greyhound weirdos not having any other way to get around.(I shouldn't have to say this, but this is a joke, don't take it seriously)

    Travelling Via rail is almost as much as flying. So where do these these homeless people and drug attics get the money?

    • @gregoryborton6598

      For shorter routes (anything in the corridor, or short hops on the longer lines) it's marginally cheaper then flying. $270 for a round trip from Toronto to Montreal second class, cheapest plane I saw was about the same and that was through a third party ticket site, not actual fare price, and for a really budget airline where they give you all 5 inches of legroom. Other tickets I saw for like westjet where around $300 one way, so yeah, even though VIA is insanely expensive for what it is, it is sometimes cheaper then flying for regional transit.
      Edit: That flair airlines price was too good to be true, looking at their baggage. Unless you're booking a trip to Montreal bringing just your purse you're sol, it's about $70-90 per carryon that you can't store at your feet, and $100+ for checked luggage.

    CN rail police and RCMP should deal with this. Maybe station a officer on a train full time.

    I cant believe it's like this on the Canadian. This was a great train and when I rode it back in the early 90's there was absolutely no problems like they have now. What a disgrace. VIA should put the trouble makers on a different train and have them ride in cattle cars like the animals that they are.

    Keep in mind that before Greyhound closed shop, these problem passengers would be on a bus where only the driver was there to "police" the bus. At least the trains would have multiple employees and even some constables.

    I took the train from Halifax to Vancouver last year with the goal of traveling Canada coast to coast. Unfortunately, this video couldn't be closer to the truth in regards to the Canadian train. There were multiple verbal fights, multiple individuals smoking weed and and partaking in not as socially acceptable drug activity in the washrooms. The vestibules reaked of cheap tobbaco and those individuals constantly bitched of the trains schedule status. These individuals were known by one name and one name only. The Greyhound Crowd! But on a train that lacks Wi-Fi it sure was entertaining.

      I've grown up riding the train in Western Canada for 35 years, last spring I took the train from Edmonton to Saskatoon and back, it was definitely a Greyhound crowd. I feel bad for the staff.

  • @PaigeMTL
    @PaigeMTL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    @1:50 What is up with the date ranges and the rounding? Having just over a year and just under two years? We don't have your data so this just makes it look like you're cherry picking the information to make a point. Have we got the 2015 or 2016 data? Increases of one or two a month that could totally be statistical noise for a service that transports 80,000 for multi day journeys across a continent. Then on top of that connecting it to greyhound? Ridership on that line was down 20% between 2017 and 2018 so, there was an influx of passengers yet somehow also a big ridership drop? Also there are still buses that run all the stops along the via rail line, as well as faster and more direct routes (Vancouver to Calgary etc). The conclusion of course still could be true, but the ridiculous music and sound effects are just way too sensationalistic.

    • @TheJhn924
      @TheJhn924 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's virtually impossible to travel by bus between Toronto and Vancouver since Greyhound's departure. While you could theoretically stitch together travel utilizing a series of regional carriers... it would certainly not be economical and would require extensive layovers when transferring from one carrier to another. Greyhound was a service used primarily by the less fortunate in society... including the mentally ill... who now look at Via Rail as their only option. One big difference is that a bus can pull over to the side of the highway and kick off anyone causing problems... whereas the train has to wait until it reaches it's next service stop where arrangements can be made for the police to meet the train.
