Add value with an ornament gift by adding a low cost ornament stand like these amzn.to/3OGFLGt

Just before the end of the video I was thinking that this was just a gnome without the fur. And then at the end you show just that. Nice ornament Mike. You break the process down into easily managed parts. Well done. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Thanks Mike 👍 I think I’ll borrow this idea and turn a few tomorrow. I’ve spent all week making snowmen so this will be a welcome addition.

Another fun video Mike! I’m recouping from a tendon injury and hopefully I will be turning again soon …. Will definitely give this a try 🤠🇨🇱

Prolific is the word that comes to mind. Good as always.

That is a great video Mike! On a funny note my wife and I we’re watching and when you put the hole for the nose in she commented, “ nose looks a bit far from the hat”. lol then you noticed as well. Great recovery! And thanks for the shout out in the intro. ❤

Your wife has a great eye for detail, Bert! I am sure that allows her to provide you great feedback on your turnings.

You are always my go to inspiration for Christmas Gifts. Many years ago, you suggested the wrench set as a set dia, for things like tenons. I bought a cheap set and have them as part of my turning tool kit. I guess you forgot where you put them and fell back on the callipers 😁

I still have them, they are just buried in the pile of tools!

Nice job . I prefer to make gnomes / gonks and snowmen from one block , turn noses from the tip to the tennon, and part off with a razor saw , and use my Jacob's Chuck to drill depth and hollowing

Thanks for that Mike. Im not going to teach my granny how to suck eggs, BUT get yourself a spanner and sharpen it up ( as in TH-cam videos ) and make a sizing dowel maker. Ive been using a 6mm & 7mm for a long time now and you wont believe how much time it saves.

I am familiar with that and have used those. I am getting forgetful in my old age. 😂

    Nice project!
Mike -- In one of your earlier videos (IIRC), you used a sharpened open end wrench to quickly size tenons. Do you no longer use that method? If not, why not?

Some of those tenons are too small for the wrench technique.🙂🙂
