The biggest benefit of nuclear over Wind/Solar is that you don't need as much grid infrastructure extensions and upgrades (which are costly and people object to new power lines) You can do Wind/Solar upto maybe 50% but beyond that it rapidly needs significant costly grid upgrades The only exception to this is locations where Wind power has very high capacity factors eg for the UK where offshore wind farms are going to have 60% + capacity factor But most location don't have such good wind resources
Molten salt reactor needs no big power lines because it produces what is needed locally, can store excess or shut down, and needs small co2 turbines and can use heat for other things
Naturally when 5 times more electricity is needed and no high energy density fossil fuels are used, then the national power grid capacity also can be increased. Grid overloads are dangerous. So if the grid cost 10 times more than power stations and an entire national power generation has to be expanded to 5 times more power then a national budget to subsidies the private construction of $trillions and $trillions and And USA military trained nuclear operators 3 shifts a day, 365. And also no CO2 in any other country, so every country has its own nuclear industries and USA military trained operators. 9,000million people, all with nuclear industries and booming grid building economies

If Mark Nelson ever writes a book I would buy it, regardless of the topic.
If he wrote the the book "How to mustache", I would buy two.
The co-writer is Chris Keefer.

Important interview.
this information needs to be shared world wide!
I was and am dismayed that they plowed right along with shutting down the San Onofre nuke plant near me.
Awesome discussion!
Did I just hear Mark say something positive about an advanced nuclear reactor????
I almost fell out of my chair.

Is Mr Nelson disguised as the 70s' king of porn, or is that his everyday appearance ?
