As i metioned on some other great video of yours, for easy savage 3 speed transmission adjusting, just turn in 3. gear adjustment to maximum and change the claws of 2nd and 3. gear. In this case you ll be able to adjust second gear from outside without dissambling whole time. Your 1-2. claw will change to 1 to 3. gear. But u can adjust the shigting point from outside. When done change back and adjust 3 gear from outside as written in description. Easy way to adjust. Just dissamble transmission 2 times for whole adjustment progress. Omg I never thought of that I will definitely be doing this I modified my 2 sped to 3 speed with different size gears and made 2 new gears to replace the small(thin) ones that connect for final drive to drive line

I find it very strange that the transmission is not adjustable from the adjustment ports. I had a Jato 3.3 with a 2 speed transmission and it always shifted fine. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to see if it would shift or not after the adjustments. I hope it works well. I was intrigued when I first saw the Savage Octane a while ago. It would be amazing if you acquire one, I would be all over it. I’ve heard that they have some issues, but they still look fun. The Octane has a very unique sound too.

I love the savage my first real nitro truck was the HPI Savage X remember that one? The original release of it I loved it! Love this content. I’d really like to find myself a T-Maxx to restore a bit and run like an old .15 or 2.5 truck would be cool I think. My plan if we’re back to having a regular summer is to pick up a gas big scale and that will either be a Losi 5T 2.0 or a ProBoat Zelos 48” Gas boat. I love boats ! Haha. Got my exceed rc hammer Thursday and now have 6 tanks run through it . Seems to run pretty good. Still running quite rich but it will wind up pretty good .Need to find a way to charge the batteries that i have in it with out having to take cover off everytime . Thank you for your channel. I am looking to retiring next year so between my planes and trucks and buggy i will be having some fun. Oh the servo saver on my exceed wants to come loose and i have to keep on it when i notice the steering not what it was when i began the run did you have any problem with yours.
Hi Nitrogang , i don't think you have to buy a new clutches, those are made by metal and with some oil you can free up the small piece that came out with rpm, this is the piece that hook with the gear (second or third gear), the las time I send you a comment but you did not see it (down is it). I'm looking forward to see your truck running at 70 mph, just keep playing with gear, like I say is not ease to set the three speed but once you gotten I'll be easier. (I hope you understand my English :V) "Hi Nitro Gang, the best way to know if you are stoc in first gear is to tigh all the way the second and the third clutch screws adjustment, that's how they recomend in the manual, then to properly adjust the speeds you have to start unscrewing the second gear screw, and when you have the desired rpm you have to move to the third gear. Sup Nitro Mike! I mean to say it was the first 1/8 gas Rc to hit the market. It's still the only 1/8 gas Monster truck, I don't consider the dynamite powered gas models master trucks, they are buggy platforms. Plus it appears they were even less popular and sold less than this octane savage did.

hey dude! You're right, there are two set screws that are visible on each clutch. One of them is the adjustment screw which has the spring it pushed on as I pointed out in the video somewhere. The other one, is threaded directly through the transmission shaft assembly and just keeps the Clutch secured. It's a cross pin (just like an driveshaft would be mounted to an axle). I'm actually thinking my assumption of it being in first gear was wrong at this point. Im think it's stuck in second gear now, and I just could not tell. I will begin to eliminate one gear at a time in the next vids, and we will use process of elimination to figure this out.
The fact that the 2nd gear and 3rd gear spurs spin freely when pushed by hand does not mean that they won't engage when the RPM necessary for creating the centrifugal force to overcome the springs in the clutch holders is obtained...

Thats what i was pointing out here, its a test to see which gear is currently engaged, in this case i was in the correct first gear. Btw i eventually rebuilt the gear clutches and now all 3 gears shift as they should. I got a top speed of 46 mph, check out the followup vids in a playlist of this savage here.
I'm not sure but, I'd imagine that someone has already pointed out that it very well could have been starting in second and never reaching 3rd. Second is not engaged because by your spinning the gear by hand doesn't reach the necessary rpm for it to engage however, the necessary RPM to engage the clutch may have been sufficient to engage 2nd gear off the line. IDK, just a thought. If my logic is unsound feel free to correct me.
hey bro! Your logic is spot on, have you watched the newer vids on this savage? I got it to finally shift into all 3 gears. The hand spinning of gears turned out to be flawed as you said. Whats weird is it must have been stuck in 3rd gear this whole time to hit 44 MPH. It's taken me a few adjustments to get it shifting right, but now I will be getting 30% nitro fuel and we will try to hit 50 MPH.

Recording the footage is the easy part, editing looks like a nightmare though I imagine it gets easier and better. I'd like to do some videos of tech stuff, mods etc. Fixes and what not that I have searched for with little success finding like proper brake adjustment procedure for the Jato. 😉 😝 If I do, they will be no nonsense quick videos. No one needs to watch me turn a wrench. I wish I knew what kind of interest people have for instruction on how to properly do the Slash 2wd monster conversion via the Jato Wide Mod. I don't like videos where people point about, but never speak. I wouldn't do that but, I'm not much of a public speaker.

hey bro! Welcome to the NitroGang with your Savage XL. Main thing is that the engine runs and it's not seized, the gears you could adjust later, no big deal. BTW, I didn't replace the transmission parts in this one, they are all original, I am only adjusting the clutches themselves in this video. In the next video we will see if it worked or not. If you need part numbers check the PDF link in the video description for the part numbers if you need, then just google it, and usually ebay or amazon will have them. Let me know how it goes, here to help my dude.
you should be good then! First thing I do on any used nitro is check the inside of the motor, good work!! is the compression is good, then it's gonna run. Lets hope the trans shifts, if not, you're gonna be doing what I was doing. BTW, I eventually got the 3 speed to shift, it will be in my newer video soon.
Ive send an e-mail to the Marketing chief of hpi germany and he wrote me back, that hpi baja 5b SS kits wont be in production for the next 6 MONTHS. They really mustve had some massive problems internally.
hey buddy! Unfortunately I dont own a CEN GST 7.7, but I do own a Team Associated MGT 8.0, which is an even larger motor than the CEN. In reality these giant motors don't have the same high RPM as the Smaller engines, so you really won't have any more speed than this savage XL. Watch my speed run videos on this thing.
whats up man! thanks for watching. Which motor are you referring to? Generally it's because you are running too rich, if you see way too much smoke just as you see on mine in this video. When you turn the high speed needle clockwise (left) you are leaning the motor out and lowering totally fuel flow at full throttle. IT's really a matter of how lean you want the engine to run.
those engines are fairly good, yo should be ok with it. You just gotta make sure the high speed needle is set correctly. Try leaning it out 1/4 of a turn and then 1/8 of a turn at a time. Let me know if it seems to run better.
Man that is going fly in 3gear the 2000s were the Golden age of the super fast nitro cars and trucks like I said before brushless electric is fast and powerful but nitro and gas has heart and soul in the RC world 🧢🙏

hey bro! what's up! This is an older video of mine, IDK if you saw the more updated SAVAGE XL vids on this truck, but the 3-speed has been fixed!! I just had to turn the set screws all the way in and then back them out to reset the clutches, it could have been jammed. Eithrway, everything works now! Nitrogang!!.

the savage octane was not the only 1/8 gas powered rc. Losi had the gas 2.0 buggy and truggy both with their dynamite .31 gas engine.

@@hybrid32494 yeah just rebuilt it. Piston and sleeve had no corrosion and scratches at all. Top of piston was silver.

those engines are fairly good, yo should be ok with it. You just gotta make sure the high speed needle is set correctly. Try leaning it out 1/4 of a turn and then 1/8 of a turn at a time. Let me know if it seems to run better.
Man that is going fly in 3gear the 2000s were the Golden age of the super fast nitro cars and trucks like I said before brushless electric is fast and powerful but nitro and gas has heart and soul in the RC world 🧢🙏

hey bro! what's up! This is an older video of mine, IDK if you saw the more updated SAVAGE XL vids on this truck, but the 3-speed has been fixed!! I just had to turn the set screws all the way in and then back them out to reset the clutches, it could have been jammed. Eithrway, everything works now! Nitrogang!!.

The fastest stock savage, is that a challenge sir? I think a lot of guys who were building faster savages back in the day used the hotbodies twin engine truckzilla conversion.
