One of the most clean guides to coding I've ever seen. I was on the fence about using Godot over Unity to finally start a serious project considering the amount of assets unity has but you've made it make sense. Tysm for posting this it's been SUCH a huge help, I'm looking forward to the next part!
TH-cam somehow always knows what I want to see. After having it on my wishlist for years, I finally started playing Ace Attorney. I'm also doing a VN in Godot (in addition to other projects). I'm still working on the story and characters for my game, but your video is still so helpful.
this was sooo helpful, ive been struggling finding this kind of info cant wait to see more! also your game concept sounds super interesting and am excited to play it when it comes out!
would love love LOVE a part 2, my guy! earned a sub! by the way would you say that your direction explained in the video is better, or does dialogic for Godot have a good chance at making ace attorney VNs?
You're free to try and use Dialogic of course, but to my knowledge it wasn't updated to support the latest versions of Godot. I had some issues when using it myself. And to be honest I really like trying to recreate everything by myself, so it was a personal choice to not invest too much time trying to make Dialogic work 🙏
interesting, subbed. I'm not making a VN per-se - but I'm going to build a point-and-click adventure that will actually be in 3d space (2d sprites 3d backgrounds, etc). Since I'm doing it in phases, the first phase is doing a "Choose Your Own Adenture" style game, which is not that dissimilar to a visual novel. This will be helpful.
Apologies for the delay, valentina! I am almost done with the scrit of the second video, I just need to film, edit it, and it will be out (it's a matter of days! Thank you for your comment 🙏
Bro i'll subscribe to your channel because this is exactly what i need for my game and can't waiit for the next tutorial. But if i may say your voice/sound when explaining in godot is kinda low or hard to hear especially for me that's not native english. Might be good if you higher the volume i guess?
the "lawyer reacts to pwaa" concept kind of decontextualizes the games considering most of the time theyre coming in from a western pov? the games are obviously unrealistic but theyre also based on the japanese justice system, not american/canadian/etc.
Entirely correct, I think some of these attorneys do mention that their commentary might not make a lot of sense since they aren't familiar with the Japanese court system. That said, I think it's fair to assume Ace Attorney games aren't striving to be hyper-realistic, even for Japan.
Apologies for the wait! What you use the first video doesn't matter as much (it could be any image really), but I have added the assets I used starting from part 2 :)
Please turn down your gain and don't have the mic so close to your mouth. The concept is so good, and you are really good at presenting but the audio makes it unwatchable
You're 100% right, I realized all this in post and couldn't find a way to fix the audio. It's my first time making a video so I can only improve from there! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you so much for this video 🤧🤧🤧 it is so helpful for the very beginner like me! I decided to make my own visual novel and was considering renpy and godot to try to do it, but renpy has too many limitations, I want to do something more interactive)) so the godot was more preferable, but there are not many tutorials about how to make visual novels in it, even about how to make more interesting game menu with your own buttons...it would be much of help if you film something about it... Like how to make your own dialogue screen and buttons, something like that, still thank you very much for this video, it gives me inspiration and hope that it is possible to make my visual novel in godot 🥹🥹🥹
Hello! Thank you for your very nice comment. I have uploaded the second part ( th-cam.com/video/BWDmZoMZlmo/w-d-xo.html ), I hope you'll find it useful as well 🫶
I also decided to make VN in GODOT but felt extremely lost. Your video its really helpful. Keep up the good work

Thanks! Great way for me to start with the UI! Learned a lot to continue!
great video! hoping you'll continue this series! you'll help a lot of adult visual novel creators on patreon.
I will continue this series, don't worry! I am preparing the part 2 right now.
@anice-menhour that's great! Been waiting for you! I've been game-deving all December trying out new things in Godot.
@@kodoavncreator Thank you for waiting! Part 2 has been updated 😊 th-cam.com/video/BWDmZoMZlmo/w-d-xo.html

I messed up with image resolution. Used a 4k image and was too big. Had to select a different expand mode so it works.
Awesome. I'm also doing something similar and spend a lot of time in Blender. Look forward to seeing how you progress!
Thanks! Subscribed and waiting for the next part! ❤
Would appreciate a part 2!
Writing the script right now, it should be out in a matter of days now! Apologies for the delay!

great!!I'm waiting for next video🥰!
Good luck!!!. I was just thinking on starting a similar project and I am a complete beginner. Thank you.
Thank you! Good luck to you as well! There will be more videos to come on that topic so drop by again soon!
Theres a character in AA called godot which is a funny coincidence
Right? A really cool character, too! Looking back on it I should've used him as reference haha.
Where is the 2nd video? I still waiting 😇

Hey! thanks a lot, this is really helpfull, do you plan on continue this? I would love to see more
Hello! Yes I do plan on continuing this, the part 2 will be uploaded very soon :)
I need a mobile version of this
Very good keep it up

@@polirythm1 thank you very much! The next video will be up soon, and I’ll be extra careful about the volume this time 🫡
@@anice-menhour Good luck with next tutorial bro, can't wait for you to breakdown the clues and inventory system in Godot :D
