I was not expecting to learn Alf is also an honorary Autobot; when I first saw this, that little bit made my day as both a Thomas fan and a Transformers fan!
That was very funny at the end where there is an Autobot symbol on the bottom left of Alf's buffer beam because I noticed it when the video mentioned about Fred.
That's cute, Alf has an Autobot insignia on him. That is such a lovely little detail, and I love how Dan mentioned 'More Than Meets The Eye' at the end of the video. Maybe Alf, being rather rectangular, is an undercover agent who works with a modern version of Blaster, sent to the Talyllyn Railway to watch over it and protect it in secret! I wanted to ask: Is the Autobot Insignia welded on, or is it a large sticker? I am a little worried that it might fall off.
I’d love to see someone try to reuse the remains of Alf’s donor loco to build something useful. Last time I was at the TR in 2020, the chassis was parked in the sidings at Rhydyronen station.
@@kupferbergbahn7952 No I’m fairly certain what remains is still abandoned. The chassis is just in a siding and the rest of the parts will be out on shelves as spares for Alf. There’s also a third one in Yorkshire as well that could be used.
Thank you for introducing also a less prominent member of the TR-fleet. Yes, a unsung hero indeed. A bit sad that the other 'half' of the pair is left to its own destiny in the siding at Brynglas.
It's a shame that his Railway Series counterpart is characterized as either lazy or unreliable, because it's quite obvious that neither is true of our Alf! I figure one of the steam locos is due next, but very eager to hear and see more about Merseysider when that time comes
@@joshuaW5621 you know, you could say in some form or fashion, or in an AU, if the best of both diesels were used to restore Alf, maybe the other one became Fred and had all of the worst parts

It sure is great to know that Alf has gained a large following! I don’t suppose the railway has a video in mind for some of the diesel locomotives that were sold to enthusiasts, Merseysider and Bryn Eglwys.
Someone that hasn’t been given any attention at all is Merseysider, I even forgot that Merseysider even existed until he mentioned in the video. Edit: I just realised that Merseysider and Bryn Eglwys were both sold :(
Alf is like nigh indestructible. When the steam engines have worn out and ground away to dust, Alf will still purr through the post-apocalyptic landscape. If Alf could be deployed, they'd be using it to steal Russian tanks in Ukraine - and it'd win.

same boi. it’s nice seeing that!
That was very funny at the end where there is an Autobot symbol on the bottom left of Alf's buffer beam because I noticed it when the video mentioned about Fred.
Now the question is how did Alf get that Autobot symbol on its buffer beam.

Looks like its welded
Funny head canon, i’m starting to wonder what the real life reason was that they decided to slap an autobot logo on Alf.
I have a question though, is Alf running well?
Beat me to it lol
He is and always will be, until the end of time
@@Bluegreenslug even then Alf will still be running well
No, currently he is running VERY well…
ALF IS ALWAYS RUNNING WELL

If had the money, time, a railway and of course wasn't 12 years old, I would by Alf's brother loco and build a working train out of it
@@captainhuggyface6731 12 is a good time to start. Hunslet locos have a good following
Whatever remained of that locomotive would've been chucked or scrapped by now.

Now Alf is a strong autobot that stabs Autobots and Decepticons optics with pencils.
Alf is one of my favorite engines on the railway, I'm so excited!

Also, how many people know that two Thomas VAs were involved in the Transformers franchise (specifically for the 2014 Universe game)?
Everybody knows that Alf will outlive time itself
i love alf his whistle is too cute and hes so smol
I want a hoodie/shirt that says “Alf is running well”
I hope my future Alf model will always be running well!
3:24 Fred & The Trouble With Trees
Alf - ‘a loved fixture’
I hope there will be stories about the Talyllyn's former locomotives Merseysider and Bryn Eglwys
Lets not forget the two scrapped diesels...lawnmower and charlies ant
Love these videos! Very well made and very informative!
Theory: the reason Alf is always running well is due to his Cybertronian self-repair capabilities

Guys, I think Alf is running well.
The day Alf isn't running well, is the day the world ends.
Agreed. He is fighting off the inner demons of many by running well.
3:54 Alf is a transformer confirmed.
Ahhh, that's why they run so well.
Autobot roll out.
Nice, and any new info on the new loco?
That's what I'm wondering about, though I think they're going to talk about it in a later video

It sure is great to know that Alf has gained a large following! I don’t suppose the railway has a video in mind for some of the diesel locomotives that were sold to enthusiasts, Merseysider and Bryn Eglwys.

*Alf is running well intensifies*
I live on the other Atlantic ocean
If fred ever makes an actual appearance, he should have a decepticon logo near his right buffer to match with alf.
looking forward to Dolgough but the story of Alf is still fascinating.
Will there be a video featuring the history of Midlander? He hasn’t been given any attention at all.

Why does Alf have the autoparts logo on him
Wait that’s a autobots logo from Transformers is Alf a Transformer fan.😲
3:23 MF SURVIVED A TREE FALLING ON THEM
3:55 *WHAT?!* XD
Now the important question. When did Alf join the Autobot cause?
Cute little diesel.
How many diesel engines are there on the talyllyn railway
As both a Thomas fan and a Transformers fan that end joke made me laugh so hard!
YOOOO IT IS TRAIN BOY
ALF!
Lawrie should be doing these!
Oh My God He has an Autobot sticker!!!!
What is up with the transformers logo on his buffer beam?
Did you actually weld that to Alf
Alf is running well.
Can you do a video on midlander
Alf is an interesting engine....and eith that secret at the end revealed, its easy to see why lol
Ah yes Autobot Alf, tbh hasbro should get on this and make us a Talyllyn x Transformers
HE’S A TRANSFORMER?!?!
What's the story behind the autobot insignia?
Wait why does Alf have an autobot insignia? Is he gonna be in the new transformers movie coming next year?
Hopefully he isn't, we need him here!
Alf’s horn sounds a bit 💀 but also 🤔 at the same time!

Why does Alf have a whistle?
Many early diesels had whistles rather than horns, as it's what people were used to hearing from Railway locomotives!
