Great vid. I learned the joys of receiver sights (peep sights) as a teen and am now 72 years old and still love them. Thanks for reminding people of this great design.
Thank you Ray - the simplicity in it is what makes it so wonderful. I too shot with this in my teens and I am a few years your junior - we used to shoot Bisley with the old .303 Lee Enfield
I have this for Ruger scout rifle. I like the fact I can have irons and go to an scope or scout scope or to micro red dot in the field instantly. This is a bonus in the climate of snow, rain, and weather here in the northern rockies.
@@theafricanalluresouthafrica I prefer a aperture sight myself for hunting. I like it zeroed out to maximum point blank range for a target the size of the kill zone. I like this much more than a scope I've only ever had 1 scope and it was a low power fixed 4x but it was still very slow target acquisition compared to a aperture sight or buckhorn sight. It's a real shame how much hunters today have never used sights and think hunting is about making the longest shot you can. I was raised shooting NRA matches and hunting at normal range with sights. Thanks
I picked up the NECG peep sight with Patridge front sight. Peep seems solid, but I would not recommend their front sight. You have to sand the front sight down to fit. Problem is, something is up with my gun, so I could not take the front sight out; it got stuck really hard halfway out. I could not pull it out with some padded pliers, and I could not push it back in either. I decided to use a brass punch to tap the sight back in. Annoying thing is that the front sight has really mild steel, so that marred the front of the front sight post. Won't affect the sight picture though. So I guess you can call this "character" or whatever. Upon closer inspection, I think there is something wrong with the corner of one of the dovetails; there are signs of the sight's corner being warped somehow, almost as if the dovetailed were scraping the metal and peeling it back. My guess is that the corner in one of the sight bases is not as sharp as the other.
Berto Bredenhann I have never seen them in SA - 25 years ago I bought them on line and stuff actually used to get to us - now seems nothing gets through now. I got my latest one in Jan when I was in the USA when I was there
No but it is adviseable to put a nice High Viz one on. This sight is adjustable so it helps. My old express sights I had to put up the 300yd v for 10 m shots this one I just sight for 10 M this is not a hunting rifle for me it is a close quarter stopper.

These NECG sights are very good. Big improvement over stock sights for CZ 527.
Absolutely
Very nice 👍. I prefer aperture sights and this looks like a good clean and functional hunting aperture. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Brian, for me it is certainly very functional and I like the quick target acquisition

Hiking With A Viking thank you sir
Thanks matey
That elevation adjustment would be annoying if you had a scope over it
Maybe but I donot use a scope and that ghost ring fills the back dove tail of the CZ550 so you might have problems attaching a scope
@@theafricanalluresouthafrica gotcha
Front sight has to be replaced?
No but it is adviseable to put a nice High Viz one on.

Do you know how many turns equate to inches in windage and elevation?
Sadly I do-not as my primary use is for close quarters and you can move the sight much for both windage and elevation
Hey.
One would have to play with it and see what it does🤷♂️ I sight mine for 10
Where can I get one here in SA?
Honestly no idea - got mine in the USA
